Quidditch Ravenclaw vs Hufflepuff - Winter 2024

Second round, redemption time. Lavinia was mid way through her sixth year and knew that now was the time to showcase her quidditch skills if she wanted to land on a professional team after Hogwarts. Her team was in a bit of a rebuilding stage, but Lavinia was certain her teammates were ready for a victory and she was too. It had been too long since her last win and she needed for Ravenclaw to cement themselves as a strong team today.

Taking the field, Lavinia basked in the winter air and enjoyed the small trickle of snow from the air. Hopefully, the weather would cover the snitch more and give her the opportunity to score more. Ready for the game, Lavinia took a deep breath and mounted her broom.

Another month, another quidditch game. Seeing as she was a first-string chaser and had been on the team since her first year now, she was feeling pretty good about herself. Or, her quidditch skills at least. Hufflepuff was quite a good team and they had quite the winning streak - she was ready to play this game, even if she was out in the first minute.

Chasers and Keepers

And off they went! Howard and Lavinia both instantly set their eyes on the quaffle, however Lavinia was able to snatch it from Howard a couple more times. She'd dash around to the rings, neatly scoring a nice 40 points for the Ravenclaw team. That didn't mean Howard was unable to grab the quaffle, but when he went to score, an odd feeling alerted the Ravenclaw keeper Charlie that let her slide in and block the quaffle.

As for the other chasers on both teams, they had their own missions this game. Both Roxette and Winnie were on the lookout for any of their falling players that they could potentially save (Alma potentially too, though she seemed a lot more distracted). As for Cecily, well...

As the chasers' game raged on, the seekers would be busy at work, scanning the skies. Ethen took little time before a golden glint caught his eye, but Delainie proved to be having a tougher time finding the elusive snitch.

Beaters

The beaters took no time before getting started either. Avery and Tesla teamed up instantly, sending a powerful shot towards opposing beater Jorah, which he seemed unable to dodge as it came crashing into him. The power let it ricochet towards Delainie, who unfortunately didn't see it coming and would also take a hit, both falling from their brooms.

Ebony would target Alma, but she'd bee keen-eyed enough to evade the bludger aimed her way. Before he fell, Jorah would also manage to take a shot at Ethen, who barely failed to get out of the way in time as the bludger just caught him. It would bounce of him to Roxette, who wouldn't be able to withstand Jorah's wrath and was also sent tumbling.

As for Cecily, she seemed to find her own target: Howard. She'd shoot towards him, successfully knocking him off his broom, and also timing it so perfectly as to avoid the eagle-eyes of the referee and a penalty lap. Lucky her.

Madison watched as the chaos unfolded on the pitch. Ethen had found the snitch, come on Ethen, you've got this Madison thought. Howard got knocked off his broom, as did Roxette Oh gosh, that's not good Madison thought. As she saw Howard come off the pitch, she smiled at him softly and gave him a hug. she knew that coming off this early wouldn't be easy for him, but this team was like a family to Madison, and you're always there for you family . "Don't worry Howard, these Ravens won't be flying for much longer" Madison said with a smile and chuckle, hoping it would make Howard chuckle too.

She may be a second year, but Madison was brave and wise in the game beyond her years. She had also been training to deal with players stronger and tougher than her, and she knew she was needed now more than ever, to help her team. Now was her time, her time to shine and show these Ravens what she was made of. Her dad had been training her for this most of her life, now was her time to show everyone what she was made of.

Madison sent a smile and nod Annie's way, whispering to her "time to clip these Ravens wings I think" Madison said with a giggle, before getting onto her broom and flying onto the pitch to join her team. She could see that the Ravens were down a few players too, Come on Madi, you've got this she thinks to herself, taking a deep breath and got ready to play the next round. Yes it was really cold, but Madison knew what she had to do.

One minute I was flying high up in the air, excited for my first time really playing in a quidditch match, the next I was falling towards the ground. I had been hit by a bludger, man I was right to be scared of those things. My eyes widened as I came closer and closer in contact to the ground, it seemed to be growing bigger by the second. All of a sudden oof, there it was. I had hit the ground and it really did not feel good. Welp, so much for my first game I thought.

Ebony scowled as the Hufflepuff chaser Alma evaded her bludger. They got lucky. Thankfully, the chasers on their team seemed to be even luckier -- or perhaps, more skilful. They were now at a 40 point lead... well, with two players knocked off their brooms. She swallowed as she surveyed the ground and the unfortunate players who had been sent flying downwards. Hopefully... the next one falling would be a badger.

Watching and listening to the commentator amongst the noise was a bit difficult between the cheering and booing. Separating one loud noise for the other nearly gave Annie a headache. From what she could gather, Ethen was on his broom and spotted the snitch, always a plus. A few members of both teams were taken from the sky, some from bludgers others just by not having a person to save them, Howard in this case. She'd jump as Madison's enthusiastic voice reached her ears, she had been so focused she barely caught her rising from the bench and taking the broom with her. Her attitude was infectious though, and the competitive spirit jumped out of her once again at Madison's little quip.

"Atta' girl Madi! Let's have some chicken tonight! Show them what you got like you did in practice. I'll turn a blind eye to anything questionable." A roar of laughter escaped from her after she yelled after her teammate, with a little remark of her own. She'd then bump Landon's shoulder with her own.

"Hanging in there young Badger? It looks pretty awful huh. Well, I can imagine it at least. Collisions, whistles being blown, everyone's face pinched in concentration or anger. Anywho, just remember to breathe. Atlas usually never comes down from her post, not without a fight." She'd give a reassuring nod to him. She only had to sub in for her for one or two games over the last year and a half she had been Second-String Keeper. No one targeted her, granted Keeper's weren't number one priority on anyone's hit list. Atlas was also pretty scary... er talented. Being the girlfriend of Ethen and all if you messed with her boyfriend, you better watch your back.

On that note, she'd cup her hands to a tube shape and made a sort of grunt or growl noise of that of an angry badger. The noise Ethen and Atlas had made when coming onto the pitch. Some battle cry of sorts they had made up that some of their team and house had picked up on. "AwOOoaAH! Owuoh! Owuoh!" A burst of laughter overcame her at the ridiculous noise that escaped her. It had been a while since she bonded with her teammates and could take a deep breath and not worry about every little thing going on in her life.

They had wins and they had losses. All in all, it pretty much evened out. Their team’s chasers were amazing as usual, and one has even knocked someone on the opposing team on the broom. She smirked. Ravenclaws’ heroes indeed. Their beater and seeker both got knocked out of the sky though, so maybe it was too early to be smug.

─────Landon watched the chaos of the match beginning, a little shocked at how violent the game was so far. But he knew that. It just was different being on the team and seeing it happen. He watched with wide eyes as Howard and Roxette were knocked off their brooms. He watched them hit the ground with a thud and he fought the urge to run out and see if they were okay. He wouldn't really know what to do if they weren't, but he worried anyway.

Landon smiled softly as Madi got to go play. "Good luck!" he said, still somewhat quiet but trying to be louder. He jumped when Annie bumped his shoulder but relaxed a little as he turned to look at her. "It definitely looks a bit scary when you are actually on the team instead of just watching from the stands," he observed. Landon took a deep breath when Annie reminded him to breathe. "I hope Atlas says up there, not because I don't want to play, but because she's so good..." he said. He didn't want to let the team down and, compared to Atlas, he wasn't very strong yet.

Landon jumped again when Annie let out a loud noise of some sort, but then he laughed. He really liked spending time with Annie. She was so enthusiastic. He turned his attention back to the game, hoping that they would get caught up somehow.

The line up was flawless. Avery can't quite hold back the satisfied smirk as her and Tesla's bats connect with their target right on queue. The beater keeps her attention zeroed in on the bludger as it soars towards their opposing beater. There's only a brief twinge of sympathy as the strike lands true, knocking the older student from his broom before the ball continues on its path of destruction and knocks another Ravenclaw from her broom. "Nicely done!" she shouts across to her dormmate, offering up a quick salute with her bat.

It's only when she looks back to the rest of the match that she notices the chaos that had unfurled around them. Grimacing at the sight of Howard being bodied from his broom, and at the plummeting form of Roxette, Avery steadies herself with a deep breath before flattening herself against the broom handle and rocketing back into the fray.
