A young first-year hufflepuff made her way into the library she walked down the aisles looking for a book when she saw one about the founders of hogwarts she tried hard to get it down off the self but found it too high up. She made her way over to the Librarian's Desk and waited until it was her turn, and when it came time, she went up to the librarian. "Excuse me, I don't mean to bother you, but could you help me get a book? It's too high up for me to reach." She looked down at her feet and waited to see if you would help her. She was also not wanting to be a bother but she really wanted to read that book. She looked very nervous as she stood there in silence. She had a bunch of thoughts racing in her head about that book. "I wanted to look at that book about the founders of the school." she said very quietly but It was still able to be heard. she continued looking down at her feet her nerves were getting the best of her at that very moment. she was feeling very awkward too.

Emily's second home would forever be the Hogwarts library. A treasured study space and quiet spot for light reading... Well, if one could believe 17 books in one week is "light."

However with the recent fascination she's acquired for dark creatures, Emily found herself one afternoon practically hiking lengths along the shelves looking for something. She couldn't quite figure out what though. She had read most books on vampires and werewolves scattered about the library by this point. Her knowledge on mermaids and trolls were quite sound as well thanks to other books she had come across before.

Yet her desire for knowledge of these magnificant and dangerous beasties still left her feeling as if she was missing something. She knew about these creatures' biologies but she was curious on how they could be advantageous for a mere 12 year old. Emily had no clue what that meant when she recited her conviction in her head. All she knew was that what she knew already wasn't enough.

Frustration slowly boiling over, she decided to do the one thing she never thought she'd do... Ask for help. In the library of all places, the home she thought she knew best. But if it could help solve this strange void she had within her she knew it wouldn't kill her to ask.

She quietly approached the library desk and stood there patiently until she was addressed.

One of Mateo's favourite things was getting new deliveries of books for the Library. Despite the vast amount of tomes that were contained amongst the shelves, new books were always being published - in the muggle world and the wizarding world - so one could never truly collect all of them. However, Mateo was doing his very best to ensure that Hogwarts could acquire as many as possible.

With his house-elves ready, he begun his tremendous task of finding the perfect home for all of the new deliveries. The older he got, the more he had begun to appreciate some sort of organisation, and this was of those key times. His desk was scattered with notes and parchments detailing the new locations and lists of titles that were going to be shelved. This kept him pre-occupied for so long that he barely noticed the poor young girl stood patiently by his desk as he continued muttering under his breath, shifting papers and rearranging lists, accompanied with the occasional sigh or exclamation of excitement when he found the right place for something. It was only when one of the house-elves nodded towards her that Mateo finally took notice, and quickly moved his work aside.

"My apologies for the wait. How can I help you today?"

Emily was busy daydreaming as she stood patiently by the Librarian's desk until she was eventually woken up by the voice of the Librarian himself. She had to shake herself slightly to avoid sounding dazed. She wouldn't want him to think she was getting bored waiting for him because that was clearly not the case. If anything, she couldn't begin to imagine how much time and effort it must take to take care of a library as tremendous as this. To wait patiently as he did his work was probably a virtue for him.

"No, no! It's fine! She squeaked a little, hiding her semi-startled tone behind a laugh and a smile. "I wasn't waiting long at all...!"

She was too busy staring off into space that when he asked her the question she assumed he'd ask at least a bazillion times a day, Emily was partially struggling to answer. She still hadn't quite figured out what she wanted. It wasn't like she had the time - nor probably did he - to explain to him that she was in the middle of a complicated mental state where she wants to encounter the dangerous creatures lurking about in the grounds of Hogwarts like some monster hunter... Only without the hunting, and more to do with befriending them - which was probably not a popular hobby either. Certainly not one she could admit to her peers anyway given what she'd read so far on the dangers and discrimination of some creatures.

In the end she finally asked, "You wouldn't happen to have any more books on magical creatures, would you? Vampires, mermaids... That kind of thing?"

Perhaps not a typical request but she was sure there've been weirder ones for books, right?

The poor girl seemed a little startled when Mateo finally addressed her - he supposed it was his fault for keeping her waiting so long. Nonetheless, that was a mere accident, and he needed to move on to actually helping her out now.

"Magical creatures huh?" he smiled. "We do have quite a large selection already in the Library that is available to you, if you have not already taken a look, which covers a wide range of magical creatures. We do also have a few new books that I actually have just finished readying to be put on the shelves, if you would like to take a look?

Rummaging around and moving some things around, he cleared a space before spreading out a few various options for what she may be looking for in front of her.

"These ones are all very good for people who don't know too much about magical creatures, and as you can see, each book in the collection focuses on a different creature. They give you a very good overview about the creature themselves, and I believe some even have testimonies that have been shared about people's experiences with those creatures. Is there a specific magical creature you are looking to learn more about?"

Lemon walked into the library and felt relief wash over her. This was her happy place.

Today, she had a mission. She wanted to find a book. She didn't yet know what book she was looking for. If she did, she would've been able to locate it in no time, having memorised exactly how the books were arranged.

She wanted to find a book about what it was like in the time of Voldemort's power. Perhaps even a diary, describing experiences first hand.

It was a strange thing for a first year to be looking for. She didn't need to read a book like this for any of her lessons, it was just pure curiosity. Lemon liked learning and wanted to know all there was to know about whatever subject she was interested in at the time. She had her own library of facts in her head, a collection of pieces of information and knowledge she'd acquired, and she loved expanding her collection.

She walked up to the librarian's desk and waited to get the librarian's attention. "Excuse me, I was wondering if you could help me. I'm looking for a book about the time of Voldemort's power, perhaps a diary if you have one?"

Weekends at the Library always ended up varying depending on the time of year. If it was bad weather, or close to exam season, the place would be filled with students busy with their own work. However, if it was a nice day, then the place could be practically empty, aside from the few dedicated students.

However, today was not one of the calmer days.

Mateo had been kept busy today, with plenty of people coming in and out of the Library. Especially after Christmas, there were a few students who he'd had to track down with overdue books, so he'd been kept incredibly preoccupied. However, there had been a slight lull in the crowd, and he'd been using the time to catch up with some more administrative work. Well, that was until a young girl approached his desk and stated her request.

"Hi," he smiled back. He vaguely recognised the girl, so he guessed she was a frequent visitor of the Library - though there were a fair few who did spend a lot of time here, so he wasn't able to place a name to the face just yet. "We do have some books about that time, though no diaries unfortunately. Is there anything you're looking for about his time period specifically that I can point you to?"
