Ah, studying, Raizel never studies… or so her friends thought anyway. Lazy, can't take a minute to read any of her lessons, always falling asleep during study times and forgetting homeworks until the deadline is close. Yet, her grades aren't anything less than an E and at times, getting straight Os. While she is somewhat of a prodigy when it comes to charms, making it easier for her to pick up on the said subjects, she's no genius but rather, a hard worker. Yes, she studies, no one just sees it. She studies at her own pace, enough to keep her grades high, to pass. After all, she is somewhat of a perfectionist when it comes to certain things and grades are one of those despite her procrastinating on school work.

She might say she's too lazy to pick up a book but at a certain time, she will eventually give their lesson a couple of readings until she's confident enough in her academic skills. That's how Raizel Voltrouz works, that's how she could still keep up with the best in their class if she's not a part of it.

Today was one of those days where she would like to hang around Hogwarts' library, read a couple of pages of their previous lesson and their next one just to give herself some ideas of what to expect. But at the same time, she was feeling rather lazy so she probably won't be reading for too long and instead use the quiet ambience of the library to lull herself to sleep.

Just as she stepped foot into the library, she couldn't help but notice the waving of a certain person from somewhere not far from the entrance. Upon setting her eyes on the said person, Raizel quickly identified the person as the certain Ravenclaw girl that she still doesn't know the name of. She doesn't know why but it always slips off of her mind whenever she wants to ask her name. Slowly, Raizel approached her and then she was asked if she wanted to revise for Astronomy.

Not exactly her favorite subject if she were to be honest. Why does it have to be like so late at night and why do they have to sacrifice a good sleep for it? “Sure, I don't mind.” Still, she accepted the offer, joining the Ravenclaw girl and sitting just beside her, taking out her things for the revisions. While she was doing that, she noticed the hoodie that probably belongs to the girl and that's when she realized that she forgot to bring hers and is only wearing the Gryffindor scarf for warmth.

“Why Astro though?” She asked, thinking that maybe she was having troubles with Astronomy. Raizel doesn't have any troubles with it. (or so she thought anyway at this very moment.) She's attending classes, maybe just feeling a bit sleepy every time. She passed her homeworks, and got nothing but Os so far. Her question was soon answered by the Ravenclaw's notes, seeing the various doodles of the Astronomy Professor and it somehow felt nice to see. “You doodle too?” She asked as, for some reasons, she too had found herself doodling most of the time, perhaps finding discussions sometimes boring and she felt less engaged. Not like her name was getting called often.

𝓢he's always been a bit of a whirlwind when it comes to her belongings, and her table in the library is no different. As Raizel took a seat, Bex worked to make a spot for her, clearing her books and notes out of the way and shoving what she didn't have room for into her already stuffed bag. She had a bad habit of spreading out her books and work for all her classes out on her library table and then just working her way through them one by one, which could end up making her table uninhabitable for other would-be revisers.

In response to Raizel's question she merely shrugged, opening her Astronomy textbook back to where she'd left off. "Because it's got to get done, mostly. I'm definitely not Astro's biggest fan, I'd chuck it right out the window if I could." The one shining light for her in Astronomy, though, was that it took place at night time, a time at which she was typically already awake. This was really the only positive thing she had to say about the class, though, and it was a shame that her more enjoyable classes like Herbology and Potions took place so early in the morning, a time that any reasonable person should still be asleep.

"This?" She asked, passing her notes with the drawing of their Professor over to Raizel, so she could get a better look at it, if she so wished. "They help me focus in class sometimes. I have a ton of 'em, wanna see?"

After Raizel gave her agreement, Bex rifled through her bag and pulled out her notes from her various lessons over the past few weeks, with a variety of assorted doodles decorating the margins. Professor Baird was by no means the focal point of all of them - she had a sketch of a rubber duck in a party hat on one of them that she was especially fond of - but, as it was his class and he was always kind of there, he did make quite a few appearances in her art.

"Here's Professor Baird as an octopus. And here he is as one of the gnomes in my neighbor's garden. And this is him as a Minecraft cow." Was Raizel familiar with Muggle stuff? Bex supposed she had never asked, so the finer points of her Minecraft cow may be lost on the Gryffindor girl. C'est la vie. That's life.

She genuinely didn't mean it to be disrespectful of the man, who she'd had little one on one interaction with and as such had very few opinions on one way or the other. Rather, he just had a particularly large presence, a certain showmanship and kinetic energy that Bex enjoyed channeling into her focus doodles. As she was doing fairly well in the class, she supposed it must be working. Clearly her good grades in the subject were a result of her Professor Baird doodles, and exactly no other reason.

"What about you, what kinds of things do you draw?"

She will admit, this girl is quite talented, artistic, creative, being true to her house. While other people from other houses exhibit the same amount of creativity, you just tend to find most of those folks in Ravenclaw. Looking at those doodles was quite interesting for the Gryffindor, one could say that it had somehow lightened up the sour mood that followed her around for days now and that is something that doesn’t happen everyday.

While she is familiar with certain muggle terms, the ‘Minecraft Cow’ had her completely lost, making her tilt her head, wondering what kind of cow is that and when did they discover this new type of cow. But setting that aside, it looks quite interesting, making Raizel chuckle. “I am not as artistic and creative as you so I only have a couple of them.” Raizel answered as she took out her own doodle. “I have this one where he is a Grindylow and then this where he got hit by lightning and then another where he got hit by the whomping willow.”

Okay, those were a bit violent but that was when the Professor called out to her during one of their classes (referring to Year 2, Lesson 2) and quickly said she was absent. Of course, that pissed her off and what ways could she express it other than doodling painful fates for the professor. It was well deserved, the image of Prof. Octavius bound by Amadea’s spell was starting to look brilliant in her mind. “Other than that, there is this where he is looking like a chicken and for some reason, it fits him.”

𝓛etting out a surprised laugh, she reached over to get a better peek at Raizel's rendition of the Whomping Willow absolutely bodying their professor, which was inarguably her personal favorite of the assembled drawings. “I doubt he’d like this one much. I like it though, it's funny. Do you not like our Professor, or something? Well, I s'pose you can like someone and still sacrifice them to the Willow, though that does make me worried about my own survival chances.”

Raizel's drawings were very well done, at least in Bex's opinion, and made her want to take a stab at drawing the Willow herself. The chicken one was also especially good, and she found herself agreeing with the Gryffindor girl that it did rather fit him. It was interesting to see that, outside of the duelling piste, where Raizel seemed rather stoic and, quite frankly, a little terrifying to Bex, she actually had a sense of humor, and a sense of creativity to match it. It was funny how a person could compartmentalize things; had you asked Bex, she would have referred to her own drawings as mere doodles, not able to make the logical connection that what she was doing qualified as art. But Raizel’s drawings were obviously art, just look at how well-shaded the wings were on the professor-chicken!

She reached out a hand for Raizel’s drawings and, if the older girl was willing to hand them over, she put them in the center of the table, arranging them carefully into a pattern only she could decipher. "There! Now we'll have some inspiration. I know we're in different years, but you can stay and revise here, if you'd like. It doesn't have to be for Astronomy." If Raizel agreed, she would pull her legs up under her knees into a cross-legged position on the chair (her feet never quite seemed to touch the ground, and this had become somewhat of her default library position as a result) and crack open her textbook, resigning herself to the long-haul.

The Ravenclaw asked a good question. Does she not like their professor? Raizel thought about that. Well, he’s not exactly her favorite. Her favorite is none other than their Charms Professor. “In a way, yeah.” she admitted as she started messing around with her own doodles, adding a bit of details here and there. She was no artist, heck her drawings aren’t even that great in her eyes but with her almost doing this in every chance she gets, you could say that it was honing her doodling skills. Still, it’s far from what actual artists could do.

“I don’t think it’s nice sacrificing someone you like to the willow though.” She said back with a soft chuckle. She doesn’t mind if it’s their Astro Professor. He really just pisses her off, especially after being ignored that time during class and didn’t even wait for her to respond when he called her. Talk about rudeness. Well, she’ll just get back to him with all these random doodles and hey, perhaps she could even just pin it on the Astronomy tower’s door. He won’t even know who did it.

Raizel’s gaze shifted from her own doodles to the Ravenclaw girl’s hand, reaching out for her own drawings in which the Gryffindor gladly handed her. She watched as the other girl arranged those doodles before her, whistling out of amazement with how she had put it in some sort of pattern despite not understanding what it meant. It was still impressive. “Those will probably give enough motivation to do tons of homework.” She agreed with a snicker, taking out a parchment paper and her other things to do some of those homeworks.

“I might do Charms actually. Just gonna recheck that one and move on to my DADA.” She told her. Those two had always been the best subjects for her. Well, she is a duellist so that’s kind of something one should expect for her to like.

𝓣he next couple of hours were spent tucked into their various homework and revisions, and while Bex would certainly never grow to like doing schoolwork, there was a certain level of comfort to be found in rote memorization and research, at least in comparison to the practical application of the classes she struggled most with. It was certainly a much more pleasant experience to have a friend to while away the hours with, and made all the work feel significantly more bearable.

Once the afternoon grew into evening and the glimpses of sunlight peeking in through the windows had begun to fade, Bex closed the textbook she was reading from - having long moved on from Astronomy to HoM to Potions - with a decisive thump before leaning back into her chair, stretching her arms over her head with a quiet sigh. Slouching in her chair, she glanced up at the clock across from them, only to curse at the realization that it was far later than she'd anticipated.

"Sorry, I'm-" She frantically started stuffing all of her schoolwork and belongings back into her criminally messy bag, crumbling her parchments and dropping quills in the process. "I'm so late." Maybe she could just fake sick? At this point, showing up so late might actually be worse than just begging off entirely. She usually had at least slightly better time management than this.

She threw her bag over her shoulder and booked it towards the door, throwing a quick, "I'll catch up with you later!" over her shoulder as she left. More whirlwind than girl, she'd left various pieces of herself behind in her haste: a few escaped gum wrappers, old class notes, and, most notably, her hoodie, which she'd left forlorn and lonesome in her chair while she'd packed her bag, and had forgotten to pick up when she'd gone. Whether off to fake sick or to actually attend whatever it was she was late for, Raizel would never know. Regardless of what she ultimately chose, though, she would not be returning to the library for her abandoned clothing any time soon.

This is probably the only time that Raizel actually studied seriously in the presence of someone and that she doesn’t know why. Perhaps it was just her being comfortable in letting this Ravenclaw girl see her being her studious self or maybe it's just that she won’t find it being weird. Even her best friend, Fang Hui-Ying hasn’t seen her take studying outside of their classes seriously as she would just lazily flip through books or even sleep during their study sessions or assignment revisions. She had managed to miraculously finished a couple of other assignments other than her Charms without getting bored at all, assignments that she was putting off until the last minute.

It was only when the Ravenclaw girl spoke up that she had noticed how long they had been here. That was new for Raizel though as she had never stayed this long in the library before just for the sake of studying. Maybe the Ravenclaw girl had rubbed off on her at some point. The Gryffidnor didn’t say anything as she watched her pack, her eyes on the crumpled parchments as they were stuffed into her bag and then to the quills that were dropped on the floor. “Yeah, I’ll catch you later.” Raizel said before the girl could completely leave her behind.

The sight of some of the Ravcenclaw girl’s things that were left behind made her sigh, picking them up. While she certainly won’t be needing those gum wrappers, she wasn’t sure about what to do with the old notes. Guess she doesn’t need them? And Raizel doesn't want to leave this place so messy or they’ll hear it from the Librarian. As she went from tidying up to packing her own things, she noticed that the other girl had left another item, her hoodie. “Oh great…” she uttered, picking it up and looking at where the Ravenclaw girl had ran off too. It’s probably too late to catch her at this point. Raizel had two choices, leaving it here or taking it with her and of course, she chose the latter before going on her way.

She will just return it when they see each other again unless she forgets about it. Hopefully, she won’t.
