As Valentine's Day's swift approach loomed just over the horizon, tormenting Hogwarts students and staff alike with its promises of well-marketed boxes of chocolates and pink fuzzy robes (alongside, if one was fortunate enough to hold a sweetheart during the holiday, that giddy feeling in your chest), Sabine Blumenthal stood at the head of the ballroom, hands folded neatly before her. Though her excursions with love had been ill-fated at best, she couldn't hold it against the holiday itself. Valentine's Day wasn't all bad; after all, it simply provided her an opportunity to dress up in lacy garbs and extravagant statement pieces, did it not? Stood proud before the assembled students, now her willing dance class, Sabine wore a long red dress, feathered at the hem in a fluffed skirt perfect for flaring out as she danced. Perhaps the most important part? The silver dance shoes molded to her feet, scuffing the floor as she shuffled back and forth.

"Good afternoon, my little doves!" Sabine greeted, surveying the crowd of faces before her. Some looked excited to dance, others boasted a sickly pallor from the nerves threatening to spill out their mouths. All the same, Sabine was grateful for some willing participants. "If you're not here to dance, I suggest you leave now. As for those of you who are looking forward to today's activities, welcome! Today you'll be learning the foxtrot from me," she spun dramatically, the hem of her dress flaring up around her ankles as she moved with a self-assuredness only a dancer could have, "and my wonderful assistant for the day, Professor Regan."

Gingerly, Sabine whisked about her space, taking @Méabh Regan’s hand with ceremonious gentleness. "Pay close attention, please, to how we move. The foxtrot is a true partner dance: you can't overtake your partner, and both of your working together is imperative to your success!"

Here is a YouTube link to basic foxtrot steps!

ELODIE NORMAN
“ℍ𝕠𝕨 𝕝𝕠𝕟𝕘 𝕚𝕤 𝕗𝕠𝕣𝕖𝕧𝕖𝕣? 𝕊𝕠𝕞𝕖𝕥𝕚𝕞𝕖𝕤 𝕛𝕦𝕤𝕥 𝕠𝕟𝕖 𝕤𝕖𝕔𝕠𝕟𝕕”
Elodie's eyes, as brown as the sweetest chocolate, gleamed with admiration for the teacher as she shifted her weight from foot to foot, tugging anxiously at the hem of her skirt. She had jumped at the chance to get near the Care Of Magical Creatures professor, for she had so many questions. The girl had been greatly frustrated to learn that first years couldn't take COMC, as someone determined to begin working towards being a magizoologist as soon as possible.

Despite Elodie's excitement to be near the professor, she couldn't help but be nervous. She'd never been a very good dancer, and her greatest fear was falling on her face in front of everyone. The girl watched with awe at the elegant movements, fascinated by the complicated steps executed by the professor.

It reminded her of the annual spring festival her village held every year to celebrate the arrival of spring. As a child, she would stand in the sidelines, gaping with awe at the intricate dances performed at noon, the dancers moving as swiftly and lightly as feathers drifting through the air, their flowered skirts flaring out around them.

Elodie had never been one for the spotlight. She hated the idea of dancing in front of everyone, but greatly admired those who did. She'd loved to visit the theater in a town near her village, and had adored everything about it, from the dresses to the music to the way the dancers moved. She could have spent hours in those theaters, getting lost in the music and the elegant performers who moved as if they were not part of this world, but instead a species much more beautiful and swifter than mere humans.

The girl sighed, looking down at the battered ballet shoes her mother had gotten her for her tenth birthday, much plainer than her teacher's beautiful ones. Elodie rocked back and forth on her heels, her gaze downcast, though she couldn't help but occasionally glance up to admire the elegant dance, her breath catching at the beauty of it all. Her hair had been pulled into a ponytail, so Elodie couldn't tug at her hair as she often did when she was nervous without drawing attention to herself, though she doubted anyone would look at her when there was this beautiful performance occurring before them.

Still, Elodie felt her anxiety fade as the dance continued, pushing her glasses up her nose and gazing at the professors with wide, fascinated eyes.

Tracey has done a lot of stuff in her childhood, and one of them was dancing, tho she wasn't good at dancing during that time, she practised a lot with her mother and soon got the hang of dancing.

She learned a lot of types of dancing, but she didn't have a favorite. Before she went to Hogwarts, her mother taught her how to foxtrot, and she found it easy and very interesting as well.

At first, Tracey wasn't sure why she needed to learn dancing so she asked her mother,
"Mom, why do I need to learn this dance?"
"Ah, cause at Hogwarts, there are parties, and you gotta dance at them, if you decide you want to attend them. That's why I'm teaching you all of these types of dances," Tracey's mother had told her.
"Oh, I see," Tracey says.

Tracey was excited to learn dancing, since she'd be prepared if there was a dancing event. So, she made sure to master the dances her mother was teaching her before she went off to Hogwarts.

Tracey always had fun dancing, but when she got to Hogwarts, she didn't really find an opportunity to dance, and she felt like she was going to forget all the dances that she had learned.

But, as she had thought she couldn't master her front flip dive, she had surprised herself by doing it perfectly two times in both December and January, but now its February, and not only is it Black History Month, but its also the month of Valentine's Day.

Tracey had an idea that there'll be a dance for the holiday, and when she heard word from some students saying that Professor Blumenthal was hosting a event where students can dance, Tracey decided that she'll be going to that event, but she needed a partner.

Tracey decided to ask one of her friends to attend the event with her and be her dance partner, but she wasn't sure who she should ask, so she asked Quinn Brook, a fellow Ravenclaw to be her partner, and she was glad that Quinn said yes.

On February 10th, Tracey made her way to the ballroom and saw Professor Blumenthal was already there and then she saw another girl, who Tracey was sure she had seen before, but Tracey decided to wait for Quinn to arrive in the ballroom and hopefully Tracey would remember how to dance the foxtrot.

When Sabine had asked for an assistant in her mission to teach the kids of Hogwarts how to foxtrot, Méabh had volunteered immediately, with a cheeky smile on her lips and laughter in her eyes. It was, after all, a worthy cause, trying to instill a love of dancing into their young minds... or just giving them the tools to hold their own during the next ball. She had wondered how big their turnout would be - while for some of the kids, a vision of themselves dancing with their crush at the blossom ball would probably provide motivation, at least for the younger kids, she wasn't sure how many of them would already be interested in this. Few people loved dancing for dancing's sake before they had even tried it.

Standing a step and a half behind Sabine as the Creatures professor gave her introductory speech, she tapped her fingers on her arm, thoughtful. She wasn't the most experienced dancer, but she had faith that Sabine would easily make up for her shortcomings. Méabh sketched a small graceful bow when her role in the event was mentioned, a smile tugging on her lips, then placed her hand in Sabine's. "You know," she muttered under her breath, turning towards her fellow professor. "I feel a little underdressed." Of course, she had dressed up for the occasion, wearing a silky black jumpsuit that was belted around her waist, but she probably couldn't have outshone Sabine's dress if she'd tried. "You'll lead, right? Take it easy on me."

Mentioning- x WC 443/400 Color Legend - Mike | Thoughts
Mylo was standing in their room, deciding what to wear, valentines day was coming up and in as a little extra activity dance lessons had been put on that would be given by Professor Blumenthal, the care of magical creatures teacher, and had thought to themselves in a spur of braveness, 'Why not? Meet a few new people, try not to step on anyone's toes and show off your new skills when you get home!' At home Mylo had never really shown any interest in dancing, their dad Mike, who loved to dance, had tried to teach him a few moves at home, but Mylo had such trouble picking them up and wasn't enjoying himself that they decided not to continue said lessons. But as this was a special occasion he had thought about how happy it would make his dad if he came home and showed him what they had learned during school.

After having picked out a comfortable pair of black trousers and a nice white button up shirt, their dad Mike had always told them 'When you dance, make sure to present yourself nicely. If you look nice, you feel nice, and if you feel nice you're halfway there to feeling comfortable in the moves you're being taught.' He'd never really understood what their dad meant with that, but looking at themselves in the mirror, they felt a little less nervous about getting on the dancefloor. 'Maybe that's what he meant,' They thought to themselves. 'I'm not worrying about what I look like, so I can worry about what I'm actually doing.' Taking a few deep breaths they fussed his hair around a little more trying to get it just right and made started to make his way over to the ballroom, where the lesson would be held.

While walking towards the room they started to get a little bit more nervous at the prospect of actually having to do it. In his mind it wasn't so bad, but trying to bring it to reality seemed to bring a few problems along with it. He realized that they didn't have a dance partner, and as such would probably be partnered up with someone they didn't know. Trying not to think about it they just kept on walking towards the room.

Outside of the room they stopped, thoughts of everything that could go wrong filled his mind, 'What if.... what if..... what if.....' and they started to question if they truly wanted to do this, but before he could start to spiral further he spotted a familiar face out of the corner of their eye.

Bailey was determined. She was going to get Kim back to himself if it took her a million years, if it killed her. She could be quite stubborn when she wanted to, and she was not going to let Kim continue like this.
With this is mind Bailey put on a practical but still classy and elegant outfit - a red top, black slacks, black boots she had been loving recently, a few necklaces, her typical rings, and a pair of pearl and gold earrings.
She slipped her wand into her bag, next to her current book - another muggle fantasy book It Ends in Fire by Andrew Shvarts. Bailey doubted that she'd have time to read, but she had come to find that she could not predict what would happen, especially at Hogwarts.
Heading out of her dorm after one last cuddle with her cat, Twinkle, Bailey set out to go find her love Kim.
She decided to start towards the Ballroom - Kim could be somewhere between Ravenclaw Tower and where the current errand (her end goal) was.
To her relief, Bailey did spot Kim on the way to the errand. She made her way through the bustle of the other kids going to the errand. As she neared though, Kim started to sneeze. oh shoot bailey thought, realizing she probably had cat hairs on her, which Kim was reacting to.
Making her way over to his side, she slipped her hand into his. They exchanged no words but Kim allowed Bailey to lead him to the ballroom. Bailey was only slightly dragging Kim there, as he was still sneezing a little... and she was taking advantage of that. She knew Kim most likely knew about the errand, and that her actions didn't necessarily need to be explained. It was the actions that Kim needed, she figured. Nothing she had said seemed to resonate with him or get through his thick skull so now Bailey was taking a much more.... practical approach to rescuing their friendship.
Once inside the ballroom, bailey pulled out a tissue, and gently reaching up, she wiped Kim's runny nose. She then pulled out her wand and pointing it at herself, softly muttered "Scourgify". The cat hairs all disappeared, and bailey handed Kim a clean tissue. "sorry about that - i forgot to do that before i left the dorm, after i gave twinkle some cuddles"
Bailey looked around, her hand still in Kim's hand. She spotted two of the professors, professor @Méabh Regan and professor @Sabine Blumenthal.
Bailey figured that professor Blumenthal was the one leading, as she was the one currently explaining to the gathered crowd what they would be doing. The professor informed them that they'd be learning the foxtrot. Bailey smiled, excited at the thought of dancing, and glanced up at Kim. It was a slightly infuriating fact that he was still taller than her, but bailey was slowly coming to accept the fact that he'd probably always be taller. i wonder what i look like in his eyes...? she wondered, watching the two professors dancing together. She leaned her head towards Kim's, eyes still on the dancing professors before asking "do you know if either one of them are... with anyone? because you have to admit they're kinda cute... together...."
Bailey was only slightly trying to bait Kim into reply. She was quite curious about the professors, and after the amount of gossip that had gone around the castle (and probably was still going around the castle) about her and Kim, among the students and the staff, she felt entitled to at least wonder about the professors.

Quinn loved ballroom dancing when she was little. She would dance around the kitchen with her little brother and older sister. That was before of course. Before she broke her arm when she fell dancing. She then stuck to irish dance, keeping dance a part of her life. Quinn quickly fell in love with irish dance and forgot about ballroom dancing. Until her mum asked her about the 5th grade formal winter dance.
Quinn, do you want to dance at the winter formal?" She had asked. Quinn had frozen.
"Mum... I don't know..." Quinn had trailed off her mind flashing to the pain as she fell during a spin and the feeling of slow motion falling on her arm.
"Quinn." Her mum had said sternly. Quinn had looked up.
"Quinn Adelaide Brook!" Quinn's mum had said, stating her full name.
"Mum, I fell!" Quinn had wisper-yelled.
"Mum, what if I fall again? I can't deal with that again!" Quinn had said.
"You won't fall. I promise." Quinn's mum had assured her gently. Quinn had crossed her arms.
"Quinn. You will have fun!" Quinn had sighed.
"Fine!"

Quinn had gone to the dance and learned the foxtrot, amoung other dances. She also got to waltz with her crush. Best night ever. Quinn thought as she walked into the ballroom to dance. Quinn noticed someone in the crowd of people, she looked kind of familiar. Quinn listened as a professor told them about the dance. Oh I know the foxtrot! Quinn thought. SUddenly people were arranging themselves and getting into partners. The girl that Quinn was looking at before came up. It was a fellow ravenclaw, Tracey.
"Oh, hey Tracey." Quinn said.
"Sure I'll be your partner." Quinn said after Tracey asked her. They made their way to the middle of the room. Quinn looked to Tracey.
"So er-do you want to lead or should I?" Quinn asked. The foxtrot was a very fun dance in Quinn's opinion. Quinn did enjoying spinning though. Quinn looked around at the ballroom. She had never been in the room, she had been in the rehursal room but it had never accured to her to check out this room. The room was fairly empty which was good for dancing. The room had a certain elegance to it and Quinn thought that it was pretty.
"Do you remember-know how to do a foxtrot?" Quinn asked. Not everyone has a dancing backround Quinn! She thought to herself furiously.
"I er-I already know how to, though I think it is more advanced then a basic step." Quinn thought to add.

Ethan was blessed with outstanding dance skills—the gods must have looked fondly upon him. He would glide over the dance floor like a gazelle across the Serengeti, his movements as smooth as butter and his elegance as dazzling as a dawn over the Grand Canyon.

Last school year, he had shown off his skills at the fall ball, and he was eager to do so again this year. He would practice his newly learned skills until they were flawless, and sometimes his uncle would even teach him a few moves.

Ethan didn't wake up one day with great dance skills. No, it was a legacy passed down from his uncle, who could have given Elvis a run for his money. It was passed down through generations, from father to son, uncle to nephew. Watch them both on the dancefloor—they'll leave you feeling like you just watched a vintage movie from the golden age of Hollywood.

Speaking of vintage things, his hair looks like it was plucked straight from a 1920s magazine cover. He slicks it back into that perfect middle part. He honed this look in his dorm room, where he learned the art of looking like a modern-day flapper boy. He believes that hair is the ultimate accessory for men—almost like makeup.

The foxtrot requires two people, and Ethan doesn't have anyone to dance with. Maybe the professor could help him out?

More people had come into the Ballroom, and Tracey wasn't expecting to see Professor Regan there, but when the Potions professor had walked in, Tracey wasn't exactly surprised. And then followed by the professor, other students came into the room. Most of them didn't have partners and only a few of them did. Tracey then began to worry,
"What if one of them asks me to dance? I hope Quinn comes soon,"

Yes, that's right, Tracey was panicking slightly, but her panic had faded away when she saw her fellow Ravenclaw coming over to her, and was happy when she agreed on being her partner. Tracey beamed at Quinn and heard her speak. Tracey actually wasn't sure if she actually remembered how to, but if she was correct, it was sorta like a waltz. Maybe Quinn would know more? Tracey tried to rack her brain to figure out what her mother had told her about the foxtrot, but she couldn't remember anything. Tracey sighed then decided to answer the girls question, since she hadn't really said anything yet.

"Hey, Quinn! Thanks for agreeing to be my partner! Can you lead? I honestly forgot how to do the dance. My mum taught it to me a while ago, but I kinda forgot. It's kinda like a waltz, right? Or am I mixing those two up? Wow, that's so cool how you already know how to, I'm pretty sure I'd be able to figure it out and hopefully my brain remembers too," Tracey had said, she then thought,
"Uh-oh! I rambled!"

Now, Tracey doesn't always ramble, so this was very rare, especially with Quinn, since the two girls haven't really interacted before, and Tracey was also amazed that she didn't stutter, but then again, she did know Quinn, and they have talked sometimes, just not all the time. Tracey also wasn't sure what their relationship is like. Now, so far, Quinn is a housemate, but maybe the two could become friends and this dance could bring them to becoming friends? Well, that's what Tracey wants, but she won't bring it up to Quinn yet, since she doesn't want to sound greedy for a friend or anything like that, since she isn't. She's actually surprised that she had made more friends then she did at her old school. Tracey decided to look around the room to see if anyone else has danced yet, but so far, no one has, and she began to worry, cause what if she's the first one to start dancing? Tracey brushed those thoughts away and waited for the girl to reply.

Harmony loved to dance. Sure, she’d never tried anything in a ballroom style, but she was certain she’d be able to pick it up and have a whole lot of fun. It was this thought that had her deciding to cram in a little bit of dance class before she had to warm the bench at the unofficial quidditch game later that day. If she went early and kept an eye on the time, she’d have plenty of time to get back to her dorm, get changed, and make it down to the training pitch in time. If not, she’d just have to sit on the sidelines in style and hope she didn’t actually have to get up and do anything.

The potential risk of running out of time loomed in the back of Harmony’s head, causing her to put away her Fall Ball dress she had seriously been considering a few moments ago. This was a practice, not a performance! She settled on a flowy white blouse with a brown plaid dress layered over the top; a pretty dancing outfit but also unlikely to hinder her movements on the field. Her hair was pulled loosely back out of her face with a ribbon and she was ready.

A few students were already up in the ballroom, watching the professors, talking to each other, looking around - were they waiting for their partners? Did everyone already have a partner? Harmony was ok with the idea of dancing by herself, but it would feel so awkward not doing the foxtrot as the foxtrot gods intended. She looked around, hoping to see someone who obviously was as alone as she. She was sure everyone at Hogwarts was a wonderful person, but maybe she could find a dance partner before the professors took pity on her and gave her someone random.

Her scan of the ballroom found her two lone figures among the paired students: a girl watching the professors with fascination, and a boy with nice hair who looked as if he'd just arrived, too. Talking to the girl would be quite a bit less intimidating, but she was so far away and Harmony wasn't sure if she would be able to break the gender norms of ballroom on her very first go. This thought had her feet moving despite her nervousness, and she was brought to the boy with nice hair.

Now standing a few steps away from him, Harmony awkwardly smiled and glanced at him, hoping he would notice her and she would not have to verbally get his attention. "I don't chase" or something of the sort. If noticed, Harmony would then ask if he had a dance partner.
Chase or not, she hoped to be put out of her misery soon.
