Miss Kyra Banuelos had trouble making friends their first year at Hogwarts, so she thought it would be best to pick out a possible pet to buy. From what Kyra heard from other students there was a shop at Diagon Alley with an assortment of different pets the students could choose from. She had no idea what kind of animals this shop had available, but Kyra knew that she had to go there to find out. There was no use for her to stick around the castle with nothing to do and absolutely nobody around that she liked. Kyra was sorted into Slytherin, so it would take her a bit of time to get ready for the short trip and get out of the castle. The dungeons were always a bit of a fickle when it came to Kyra. So easily lost at times.
Kyra opened the door to Magical Menagerie and the sound of a bell followed. It startled the child, causing her to twist her attention to where the noise came from, and place their right hand to their chest. "Oh, wow! My heart almost jumped out of my chest." She said. Just a few seconds later, an older couple came up to the girl to make sure everything was ok. Kyra was very thankful for their kindness, but pointed to where some of the animals were being held. "I-i came to find a pet." Kyra admitted to them with a faint smile showing. The older couple looked at one another and smiled, then they motioned for the young girl to follow, so that was what she ended up doing.
The shop was enormous and Kyra was enjoying every second of being there. The animals, the sounds, the people, everything was reminding her of home. It may have brought back some sad memories in the process, but Kyra, for the most part, really enjoyed her childhood. After the death of her parents, that was when things really started to diminish. Her attitude worsened, and her grandparents were really getting fed up with it. Thankfully, the girl was accepted into Hogwarts, which her grandparents hoped that it would change her attitude. Only time would tell if that were to happen.
The sound of meowing was heard, and that was what caught Kyra’s attention right away. "Oh, a cat! I would love to have a black one." She said in excitement. The couple chuckled lightly and began to lead Kyra to the black cats. As she popped her head up to peek in the cage, it seemed that every kitten was trying to come to her, except for one in the far back corner. It was alone and seemed to enjoy it, just like Kyra. "That one." Kyra pointed to the cat in the back, and that was when the old man opened the cage and grabbed the cat for her. Kyra quickly reached out and grabbed the cat as the man held it out towards her. It cuddled up into her chest and began to purr right away. The young girl reached into their robe with her free hand, and pulled out the right amount of Galleons, dropping them into the older woman’s hand with a smile. "Thank you both!" She said, walking out of the shop with the new kitten.
