Dad,
I'm sure you've been waiting to hear from me. My first day at Hogwarts was a whirlwind... from leaving you that morning, to the train ride, the sorting ceremony, and getting settled into my dorm room. Life is quite different here from the quiet of home.
I must tell you that I wasn't sorted quite how we expected. I was so looking forward to the warmth of Hufflepuff but the sorting hat saw different plans for me, different potential than anything I could've imagined. I'm sporting the greens of Slytherin from here on out, I do hope you're not disappointed. I'll make the most of it and bring some sunshine to such a dark place.
