Meluna had chosen to wonder the train a bit. The trolley seemed to have so many different things on it. Meluna was hungry but she felt too shy to ask about anything. Chocolate was her favorite candy, sweet and creamy. She smiled sheepishly at passersby and ducked and dodged those who used their wands for tricks. The currency one used to buy things...it wasn't dollars and coins like the human world. The idea of using galleons was new to her. Father had said he would keep money in the bank for her. She hadn't expected much. He lived on a farm in a small house but owned horses. He had taken her with him to the Wizards bank. She had to work hard not to stare at the goblins working hard. The money he had placed in her vault was enough to confirm her fathers work was important. That was also the day he finally told her about his job as an Auor. She wouldn't know where he would be but the descriptions he gave about how important his work was had opened her mind a bit. Other than understanding his role of police officer in her mind. Better yet, the wizard version of Secret Service.

Meluna had been so lost in thought that she assumed she had arrived at the right compartment to be back at her seat. She opened the door, muttering to herself about her sense of direction being off a bit but hoping for the best.

Hogwarts. Oh she had heard so many great things about Hogwarts, from her mother, her father and her brother. Never had they ever said that their Hogwarts life was boring. She didn't think anyone's Hogwarts life could be boring, anyway. Imagine being surrounded by magical creatures, potions, charms and great wizards and still being bored. Oh she could never.
But given Gracie's current predicament, she would have wished for nothing more but to be homeschooled. Isabella and Alexander Abrams, though always having a cold exterior, couldn't control their emotions when their daughter was going to Hogwarts. Jack had managed to escape from them due to his more controlling and cold exterior, that he didn't like their coddling in public. So, Gracie was the next obvious target. Mr and Mrs Abrams had not left any chance to make their daughter feel embarrassed.

But all Gracie could do was laugh when she saw James, her neighbor and secret best friend, being in the same situation. Mr and Mrs Grayson couldn't hide their excitement when Gracie's parents had offered to help them get to the Hogwarts Express, though they still considered it peculiar how they could pass through the wall.

They had started coddling him as soon as they reached the platform. But Gracie had to stop herself from calming James's nerves, seeing how nervous he was looking. She knew if Jack would find out about her secret best friend, he would always follow them around.

As she bid goodbye to her parents and saw James doing the same, she boarded the train and separated ways with her older brother.

"Merlin! I don't know how I am going to survive Hogwarts with Jack towering over me all the time." Gracie exclaimed as she finally went forward to hug James. "Come on Jamie. No need to get nervous. You know I am always there by your side, right?"

James hugged her back as he sighed, "I know, Grace. But you were the one who told me that at Hogwarts, people didn't like muggleborns. What if they don't like me? Or worse what if I am not accepted by any house. Gryffindors are brave, I am not. Ravenclaws are smart, I am not. Slytherins are pureblood supremacists, I am not a pure blood. And Hufflepuff-"

"Jamie. Don't say you won't be in Hufflepuff. I have very strong feeling that you would be in Hufflepuff. Know why?" Gracie asked as she took him inside an empty compartment and sat him down. She had already told her parents about he friendship with the boy, so she had no worries if they could see them.

At James's head shake, she sighed, "Because you have all the qualities of a Hufflepuff. You are sweet, kind, selfless. Merlin! You are the Hufflepuffiest person I know!" Gracie exclaimed as she stood up and waved her arms around, as if to show her emotions better. "

James nodded and stood up with a determined look, "You are right!" He said as he marched out of the compartment.

Gracie looked at him confused before she sighed out, "James. The bathroom is at that side."

James took a U-turn as he lightly kissed her forehead and went in the direction Gracie had pointed at. "I knew that."

Gracie chuckled at his antics and took a seat by the window. She peaked outside and saw her parents talking with Mr and Mrs Ravenwisp, their Auror friends.

She closed her eyes for a time before she heard the compartment door opening, "James. You are back. Hope you didn't-" She stopped herself as she saw it was not James, but her friend. "Meluna. What are you doing here?" She asked with a tipped smile, knowing their parents were watching from the window.

Meluna hadn't realized that she either went to far or not far enough to get back to her seat where she had been with Elisa when she had first gotten on the train. To see the girl who sat alone, Meluna hesitated. "Gracie..." she looked around briefly before stepping in and taking a seat adjacent to the her neighbor. "Where's your brother?"

She had been introduced to Gracie prior to coming to the station. Father had said they were good neighbors. Both their fathers had worked together. Meluna would have been happier if they hadn't met. He had kept her sheltered for so long it seemed the idea of a magical friend seemed to annoy her. She had come to terms after a pep talk with dad, but that didn't mean Gracie and Meluna had to let them know they were friends. She wanted to leave the compartment, but Melunas good nature kept her curious on how Gracie and her brother had been feeling about the whole ordeal. Meluna had felt sick to her stomach. She'd been clutching her Raven Whistle on and off all day. The shopping and running around left her feeling tired. Still...she was rather curious about the castle.

Gracie didn't spare another glance at Meluna as she looked out the window, seeing her parents leave.

"Jack has gone to his friends. Why do you ask?" Gracie questioned as she looked out of she finally looked at the girl. She snuck a glance outside the compartment, desperately wishing for James to come back from the bathroom.

Don't get Gracie wrong. She didn't dislike or hate Meluna. Merlin, maybe in another universe, they would have been the bestest of friends. It was just that her friendship with Meluna started because of their parents pushing them to be friends and Gracie always wanted to be able to have a choice in who she wants to be friends with.

One time her parents had asked her to be friends with another girl, Inez Starwood, a muggle. Let's just say it didn't go very well. The first day Inez came over at her mansion, she had already ruined her favorite painting and torn one of her favorite books. Gracie had swore that day that she would never be friends with people her parents told her to be with.

But seeing Meluna nervously fidget with her Raven Whistle she sighed out, "Sorry. Why don't you sit here?" She asked with a small smile.

Meluna shrugged. "It seemed that you and your brother seem inseparable. Hope he's taking the leave to Hogwarts alright." Meluna didn't have siblings. She had been an only child and that had left her with an empty space in her heart when she didn't have her parents around.

The station had crowded with excitement and joy when she and her father had arrived through the Wall. Of course, for every happiness there is a sorrow. Some of the kids did cry. It wasn't that there wouldn't be something to look forward to. Hogwarts had left big promises to all the new children attending each year. She had listened non-stop to some of the locals talking about it. Even Diagon Alley, crowded with shoppers and laughter and joy lifted Melunas spirits a bit.

She walked beside her father, glancing at him to see if children looking at brooms and geeking at the newest charms was something Meluna should be excited about. Honestly, his face had remained calm as he bought the items off her list and she didn't know what to think about it. Though, it wasn't permission she sought, more so recognition. Something her father did poorly since her earlier childhood. He had changed a bit since her FIOM. He gave her books to read while he was away, but Meluna didn't know what she wanted to study. She was in a muggle school thinking about being a writer or perhaps a nurse like all of those other kids. Here is where you learn about magic horses and learn the art of avoiding the flames of a fire breathing dragon. Her fantasies, at least some of them, were real and not the way she thought.
