	----- The trailblazing of the cracker jinx sent stinky smoke into the high ceilings, revealing its carnage. Avery watched as disappointment flooded the faces of most, and he relished that Vale was the kind of witch to rub it in after such an impressive spell; they shared that in common. Each of them realed in some kind of manner, before they each recognised movements in the other side; and all of them instinctively raised their wands at the same time... Ming took a strategic step and his wand arched up as he called forth a storm, the incantation barely heard as the cracks of thunder and flashes of lightning began to form in the sky above the Vale and Avery. Leveret had never seen the Metelojinx from this angle; only having been under it, or seen it over his enemies, but from his slightly raised position it didn't look nearly as scary. Could Chen and Ashwood say the same as two bolts of lightning sparked and struck the piste; a short distance from either of them. Chen's spell didn't leave his wand, instead; a small spark and a trail of smoke of fizzled magical power that had failed to manifest. He wasn't having a good duel so far. Neither team seemed to have a clear lead just yet, but Avery felt that if Chen pulled it together, that might be a different story; only betraying his thoughts with a smirk as he crossed his arms over his chest. Vale's cast was a ferocious bolt of roaring flame, but for whatever reason; be it the unsettling storm above or something other; it missed Ming by a considerable degree. Had the bespectacled boy put on his game-hat? Had she missed because in the corner of her eye, and through the discordant sound of the storm she heard his sister take aim and cast the Dancing-Feet Spell. Wide again, it went leaving none on the piste injured this round. Avery seemed content enough to simply nod them on again, expectantly; why waste breath on commentating a rather unexciting barter of spells; he'd much prefer to see how the participants would react to the strategies of the other; to see if they'd call them out and begin to add to the dance with a few words of poisonous song.

With almost no hesitation Hui-Ming cast his spell, continuing with his plan to go big. It would draw the attention of his housemates, and give his sister the freedom to go ahead and let loose.
But even as the bespectacled Slytherin cast his spell, bracing for the impact of a volley of incoming spellfire; and was rewarded for his wariness of Ashwood by being able to sidestep the Incendio sent his way, helped partially by the jinx sent her way by his sister; and partially by the Slytherin girl’s own fixations.

A small nod to his sister, as he tried to wordlessly acknowledge her contribution. For someone who was not an active duelist, she was performing acceptably; though her spell choice was perhaps a bit more limited than the duel he had facilitated with the Slytherins back when he himself was her age.

She was here to have fun, and he wouldn’t hold her strategy against her.

…Speaking of fun though, he turned his attention momentarily to Avery Chen. Bright, boisterous, and energetic; the Slytherin Chaser seemed to be enjoying himself, for all that they were slinging spells at each other.

“Brings back memories, doesn’t it Avery?” he called out to what would be his best friend here at Hogwarts; the ghost of a smile lingering on the corner of his lips at the other boys antics. Perhaps he should drag the boy dancing sometime, Avery might surprise him as he had with music. “Except we’re using spells instead of tomatoes this time”

	----- Almost as soon as the merciless winds and stormcloud were summoned, Avery Chen’s aspen wand shot to the sky and dispelled the rumbling threat from above. The static that was constantly building, as though a snake preparing to strike at prey, ready to flash into action and leave one of them with some serious injuries; until it wasn’t. It was rather anticlimactic but perhaps there was something more to it. Leveret understood that there were moves and countermoves to duelling, like in Wizarding Chess. What wasn’t expected was the winds continued as the last of the clouds dispersed; Fang Hui-Ming had launched another volley of wind forward that rushed across the piste to his opponents. Leveret also knew that he was a sound strategist, perhaps he had laid this trap, two moves in advance. Vale was the target now, perhaps the siblings had identified what Leveret had; she was the threat. She was struck squarely, as the wind threatened to take her off her feet. It felt as though she was in a wind tunnel, the forces of magic so strong around her that it laboured her movements. Hui-Ying took aim at the same time, launching a perfect flipendo that propelled through the air with some force. It was a powerful blast, but it missed by less than an inch; sailing past vale and striking the wall of the duelling room behind. If it weren’t for the enchantments on the walls, it would surely have cracked the stone beneath its magical weight. Vale fought the winds and in her reply summoned another fire-cracker like jinx to send across the piste. Her aim was off massively, but the beauty of the spell was in the chaos that followed from the initial burst. Ming was the intended target, managing to steer clear of more destroyed robes; but Ying; Ying was once again struck by the blast of a zipping, coiling, sparkling mini-firework that set off inches from her face, leaving her covered in a thick layer of black soot. Leveret uncross his arms and leaned upon the moderator’s railing. His grin meant only one thing; this was becoming an interesting duel now that the siblings had struck back.

Reflexively, the bespectacled Slytherin brought a hand up to cover his face as if to cover a cough, but in reality to mask the small smile that he could not but help but concede. Here he was, watching Hui-Ying try her hardest against people who were both older and more experienced than her and holding her own with remarkable ease – and yet all the girl seemed to be able to do was be upset. Instead of taking pride in casting a perfect spell, Hui-Ying seemed more preoccupied with Ashwood infuriating ability to knock people off their game. Perhaps, maybe he could understand some of Avery’s frustrations with him at that point.
Speaking of his best friend, the boisterous Slytherin had gone ahead and nullified his cast of thunderclouds. A part of him could freely admit that Avery surprised him – the boy who ran from fowls in his first year was now going toe to toe with him, without needing handicaps.
Well, no handicaps aside from Ashwood. The hairs on the back of his neck were still standing, and his eyes kept returning to her with routine frequency – it was as if a part of him expected her to… he did not know what.

But there was definitely something off about the girl. And he did not like it one little bit.
