Sneaky Star Watching
"Heya Cassi!"
AJ smiled as she met up with her friend in the hallway. The Gryffindor and the Hufflepuff had been friends since the train ride to Hogwarts, they had gotten along quite amazingly.
"I was wondering if you wanted to join me tonight on the quidditch fields!"
AJ always had a want to explore, she loved learning new things and experiencing them as well, even if it was against school rules. Aj was a good student, she followed as many rules as she could, but she also broke just as many. her brothers were the same way! Aj held on to Cassiopeia's arm as the two first years weaved through the crowded hallways of the school.
"They haven't started quidditch practice yet! so the grass is still fairly untouched! plus, there will be no moon tonight, all the stars will be visible!"
growing up in a full blood wizard and witch family, AJ rarely had time for any muggle activities, that included being able to sit outside on a pitch black night and watch the beautiful stars above. Aj loved being a part of a full blooded wizard family, but she still wished to be able to understand muggles more, she found them to be so fascinating!
"Soooo, yes or no?"
AJ smiled at her friend, biting her lip in anticipation

A big smile spread on Cassiopeia's lips, when she saw her friend AJ coming towards her in the hallway.
"Hey AJ!", Cassie greeted her friend enthusiastically. She and AJ had met in the Hogwarts Express and Cassiopeia had formed her very first school friendship with the young girl, that now belonged to the Gryffindor house. The girl with the curly locks had been slightly disappointed, that her newest friend hadn't been sorted into the same house as herself, but it was nice to have a friend nevertheless.
And when she heard AJ telling her about her plan for tonight, she grabbed the other girl's shoulder excitedly. "The quidditch fields? At night? Stars?", Cassiopeia asked in a high pitched voice, her smile growing bigger, if that was even physically possible. "What do you think AJ, of course!", she answered, trying to keep her excited voice down. She didn't want to alert any teachers of their plan for their nightly activities. No need to get into trouble this early in the school year.
"I love the stars.", Cassiopeia quietly told AJ, as they made their way through one of the many long hallways of Hogwarts, which was packed with other students. "Do you know any star constellations, AJ?"

After hearing AJ's statement about never having learned any star constellation, Cassiopeia looked at her in disbelief. In Cassiopeia's family, having extensive knowledge about ancient greek mythology and also most star constellations was mandatory.
"Oh, really? That is actually kind of sad...", Cassie trailed off and spent a moment in silence, thinking about what to say next. She didn't want to insult her newly found friend, but she had always assumed, that everybody just knew about star constellations as much as she did. But it seemed like that just wasn't the case.
"Well, there are a ton of constellations and I will definitely show you my favourite ones tonight.", she explained and waved around her hands in a dramatic gesture. "My Mother used to tell me and my siblings all kinds of stories about the constellations so we could memorize their names better. I am actually named after a constellation: The Cassiopeia Constellation."
She held up three fingers of her right hand to form a "W"-shape and held it out in AJ's direction. "It has 5 really bright stars and it so beautiful to look at. Stars are just so... so ethereal. You know, out of this world.", she chuckled and stuck out her tongue playfully.

"that's really cool!"
AJ looked at her friend with wide eyed curiosity. She then sighed softly and looked out into the distance as her mind wondered.
"My parents usually always stuck to strictly wizard teachings, they always thought if something wasn't written by a wizard, then there wasn't any use in learning it.."
AJ puffed out her cheeks, frustrated at the thought. Her parents were amazing, kind, nonjudgmental people, but they could be quite obnoxious sometimes. She did love them, nonetheless.
"But, putting all that aside, I'm looking forward to learning about it! I think stars are beautiful!"
she hummed softly, shyly peering at her friend. AJ usually wasn't one to make friends quickly, but when Cassi sat with her on the train, AJ knew she was in the long hall for a best friend, which now looking back at it, she's quite happy about. AJ looked down at her pocket watch and sighed slightly before quickly shoving it back into the pocket of her robe.
"I gotta get to potions, lets meet up after dinner, yeah?"
AJ offered her friend a smile as she let go of her arm and began walking backwards to where she had to head. She gave one last wave of her hand before turning around and rushing off, disappearing into the crowd of other students.

Upon hearing AJ's words about her parents only telling her about wizard teachings, she thought about her own upbringing and what kind of things her parents had told her about.
Yes, she knew that greek mythology was generally thought of to be written by humans, but considering her family's origin, she had always seen it as some kind of backstory for witches and wizards too.
Other than that, she didn't really know whose teachings she had followed as a child, since it had never been explicitly stated by her parents and because she didn't really know anything about muggle stories, she had always assumed that it was all written by wizards.
She shrugged her shoulders.
"Sure AJ, after dinner sounds great. Enjoy Potions!", she told her friend and waved at her with a bright smile on her lips. She kept waving until she couldn't see her friend in the mass of students in the hallway anymore. 'Potions, that is the subject I am most excited for.', Cassiopeia thought to herself as she turned around and started making her way to her own class. Sitting next to AJ on the Hogwarts Express had been one of the best decision she had made, because the nice Gryffindor girl had quickly become her very first friend in Hogwarts.
