Quidditch Ravenclaw vs Hufflepuff - Winter 2024

Madison was ready to play. Was it cold? Yes, but Madison loved Quidditch so much that, despite it being cold and the pitch being slightly snow laden, Madison was ready to get going. She could feel her heart steadily beating and her eyes were focused, as her dad would say, she was ready to do some damage. Madison had been training for these kind of conditions when she did practice with her dad back in England. Yes she was the benched Chaser but she was super excited for the game to get started.

After they entered and Madison took her seat on the bench, she took her seat next to Annie Morgan and brushes her leg lightly with her broom. "Hey Annie, it's Madison Bennett, you feeling ready to not let those Eagles fly?" she said softly with a giggle. She tried to spot her older brother in the crowd but couldn't, not surprising though, he's probably in the library Madison thinks to herself.

This would be possibly my most exciting game ever. It was my second one, but last time, I was benched the whole game, now, I was Ravenclaws first string seeker, that was awesome.

I was crazy excited to actually be part of the game this time, but also sort of nervous. Alas, the excitement overpowered the nervousness, and I walked the way to the stadium with little hops in between each step and a big smile on my face.
I had enough practice I thought, I’ve done some races and some duels before, which I wasn’t too good at but it was still experience in a broom and with a wand.

I still didn’t know my team too well, but I hoped that maybe after the games sometimes we could try and get to know each other. I had met another girl, a keeper I think, Renelle before, but we weren’t really friends yet. Really I just wanted friends on my team, maybe it would help me work better with them if I knew what they were like?

The stadium seemed even more intimidating than last time, probably because I knew that I would be playing in it today. Every time I looked at it seemed to get bigger and better, with every blink it seemed scarier. I took a big deep breath as I approached it and got ready for my first real match of Quidditch.

─────Landon felt a little bit of the chill in the air as he made his way out to the Quidditch pitch. The cool air kind of helped him relax a little because it kept him focused on other things instead of how nervous he was feeling. Sure, he didn't even know if he was going to play at all, but he was still a little nervous anyway. He took another deep breath as he moved to sit on the bench, looking at his teammates. He hoped that they played well today. He knew that there were some really good players on his team and he hoped that they would win.

Landon smiled as he looked toward Madison and Annie. He was really thankful that they had taken the time to help him feel less insecure about playing Quidditch. He wasn't one hundred percent confident in his abilities yet, but he knew that it would come with time. He just needed to keep practicing and maybe invest in a better broom. But Landon had wanted to be confident in his desire to play Quidditch before he spent that many Galleons.

Landon settled in to watch the game, not wanting to get himself too nervous. If he had to play, he would do his best, and that was all that mattered, right?

Tes hoped this game would go a bit better than her last two. She wouldn't say they'd both been bad per se, but she had ended up knocked from her broom pretty harshly both times. Not to mention Hufflepuff losing last game, and only winning on a technicality with Durmstrang. She wasn't upset in any way of course, she really wasn't playing quidditch to win! She was just playing it to enjoy the sun on her face and the wind in her hair! She just wanted to end with a bit less bruising this go-around.

It was lightly snowing and cloudy, so there wasn't sun on her face or wind in her hair what with the lopsided hand knitted hat on her head. She proudly had a hufflepuff scarf around her neck, wrapped partially around her face too. She was cold already, and didn't want the snow and icy air burning her freckled cheeks as she whipped through the air. As she took to the field she shot a thumbs up at the students on the bench, smiling warmly at Landon who seemed to be tense with nerves for his first game. She waved happily to Avery, her fellow beater and co-captain, and grinned in her direction. Maybe they'd get to do another awesome combo move this game!

This was his second to last Quidditch match...

The thought had been weighing on his shoulders since he woke early that morning. Part of him mourned the idea and as he stood on the pitch waiting for his team to assemble a few tears would well up in his eyes. However, another part of him was filled with pride. The feeling came to him as he thought of his own accomplishments here at Hogwarts and even more so as he thought of House Hufflepuff. Though he may have been an odd match at first for the house of the Badgers it was clear now that the sorting hat had made the perfect choice for him. Soon enough his fellow Quidditch players would gather round.

"Alright you all." Howard had to clear his throat to remove the emotion from his voice. "Win or lose, there isn't any other group of people I'd rather be playing with. Let's get out there and show them what we got!" His voice boomed at the end of his pep talk and with a mighty kick, Howard would propel himself into the air.

The crisp morning air had once been the bane of Cecily's early morning Quidditch matches, but as she felt her senior season beginning to come to a close, it felt like something new. The bite in her lungs, the flush of her cheeks-- they were an old friend to her by now, a reminder of the hundreds of hours she'd spent on this very pitch. To think that in a matter of months, seven years spent dedicating her heart and soul Ravenclaw Quidditch would be over, just like that...

Cecily adjusted her gloves, pulling them snug, broom tucked under her arm, as she made her way to the pitch. The stands were full of students who had bothered to brave the cold to support their house, and although she would do it time and time again for an empty stadium, something about the crowd warmed her up on this frostbitten morning. This was her game, and although she had immense respect for Hufflepuff's dedication to the sport, there was no way in hell she was letting them have this one.

She looked around at her team, her team who had practiced and perfected and bundled up this morning just for the love of the game and who she knew would fight tooth and nail for this victory. "Alright Eagles, you know what to do." She shot them all a wry smile, filled with confidence and conviction. "Let's make it happen."

As Annie stood in the locker room, the same dreaded feeling came over her, but this time, she could cover it up with her Quidditch robes which had a slight bit more padding than usual. Instead of just her trusty Silver Arrow, a bat now accompanied her usually empty other hand. She'd shrug her shoulders, shaking off some of the nerves as the roaring cheers rushed to her ears again as she set foot on the pitch. She'd make her way to the bench and hear Madison, one of the other second-string players take a spot besides her. The small joke about not letting the Raven's fly made a small grin appear on her face.

"I'm sure we can clip their wings and make them flightless birds. Of course, I'm fine sitting on the bench but I'd like to see what damage I could do with my new-found toy." She'd roll her eyes playfully and note another familiar figure sit on the other side of her. Landon was identifiable by the physicality of his nerves. He wasn't as shaky as their practice a few weeks ago, but she could still feel the tension.

"Win or loose today, I've got some skilled and wonderful teammates that I wouldn't change for the world, alright? Like Howard said, show them what we've got. Mighty Badgers!" Annie pumped her fist in the air, fueled by their Captain's speech and tingling with excitement now.

It was finally time for the second match of the season. Charlie had been anticipating this moment, even though there had been a lot of change on the team. She was determined to help her team to the win and lately she had been working on endurance and stamina, because she often got tired during the match.

Stepping out on the field, she grasped her Silver Arrow, which helped her out a lot durning the match. Having a good broom was essential to success in Quidditch. She stepped out onto the oval patch of grass with the rest of her team. Charlie smiled, inhaling the cool winter air as the Ravenclaw team made their way further onto the field. She made her way up in the sky, soaring around before heading straight for her three golden hoops.
