A Ray of Sunshine
March walked into the store, she was so excited, the most excited any one had ever been in the universe! Today was the day, the day she would finally buy the pet of her dreams! Well, okay, okay, she didn’t really know what the ‘pet of her dreams’ was, she’d thought about it ever since she’d decided to save up for a pet. She’d thought that she’d only need ten galleons, but decided to bring a bit more, what if the best pet, wasn’t ten gallons, and when she came back with the right amount of money, they were already take? March walked into the shop, March had admit that she wished that they could bring dogs to Hogwarts, her dog back at home, Clumsy was the best! Well, March needed some one while she was at Hogwarts, she wasn’t sure what she’d do with her pet during the summer holidays, she hoped Clumsy would be friendly with them, worst case scenario, they have a bit of a rivalery, or, Clumsy eats them. She saw a short lady behind the counter, and all assortments of different pets from toads and rats, to Pygmy puffs and owls. March timidly shuffled in.
“Can I help you dear?” A sweet voice rang out. March turned.
”I am trying to umm…find a pet?”March said, but it came out like a question.
“Well, I‘ll show you around, maybe you’ll find somthimg you might want to buy?” The lady said walking over and the beckoning as she walked to a section were there were toads and rats.
“Toads and rats aren’t usual.” She said smiling.
“Um, maybe not.” I said smiling back. She nodded, leaving her sweet smile in place we made our way to the corner of the store, were many owls were hooting in there cages.
“Owls are popular among students, maybe an owl for you?”
I shook my head politely, maybe I was too picky, what if I didn’t find a pet here, then what would I do?
“Would you like maybe cats?” I hesitated before responding,
“There a bit to, chill. I kinda want a pet to play with not one that, is sleeping.” I said, as we walked to the section of cats and kittens. A lot of them were lying on there stomachs in little cubbies or eating out of small dishes. Almost none were playing with the toys on the ground, the ones that were, were poking at them or slowly rolling them around.
“Hmmm, You want one that plays with you?” She asked slowly, thinking.
“Yes.” I said, watching the other cats.
“One that’s always moving? Almost never naps”
“Yes..” I said, looking up.
“More like a dog then a cat?” She asked, smiling.
“Yes!” I said, did she have anyone in mind?
“ I think I have the perfect kitten for you!” She said smiling, “Oh, but it seems he’s found you first!” She said, at first, I was confused. Then, I felt something pounce onto my knees. I looked down to see an adorable ginger kitten smiling up at me. Trust me, if kittens could smile, it would look like this. I kneeled down to pet them. There fur was so soft, I couldn’t believe my luck. The little cat started to bounce, they jumped towards me until he was running through my legs, making a U turn, then running back through.
“I suspect he’s taken?” Asked the kind lady.
“He is!” I said smiling, “what’s his name?” I asked.
“He doesn’t have one, yet.” She said smiling “twelve galleons” wow, I was beyond lucky today. I pulled out the galleons and placed it in her outstretched palm. She walked behind the desks and placed it in a drawer. I walked out of the shop, smiling, as my kitten followed me down diagon alley, I looked back every now and then to make sure he was following, I stopped to finally let him catch up, then we walked down right next to each other, I suddenly noticed how tiny he was. He was so cute, he was practically bouncing down the alley, the only question was, what to name him. She thought, well, the only way to describe him, was, well, a ray of sunshine. That reminded her of summer, she loved summer, she could only imagine him in the middle of summer, splashing around in the pools, wait, cats hate water… She assumed that he was an exception. That’s it! His name would be Summer! The best season, well, March liked all the season, but still, and wasn’t Summers birthday in Summer, she thought back. Before she’d left the store, she asked the lady all kind of questions about him. His birthday, was defiantly in Summer, Summer was the name, for her Ray of Sunshine.
