Harrowing Tears
Euphrasia Millie was unbelievably upset. Rage spouting through her tightly shut eyes, a letter crumpled by her angry fists. Pain zapping through her cold, small body. She was shivering, but not from the cold outdoors, but because of the anger spiraling through her upset body. The fury spatting through her empty heart.
No type of anger could replace her grandmother.
But there was no type of anger that could replace kindness, and no type of anger that could replace heartbreak. But Euphrasia seemed to beg that everything on the letter was wrong, that it was a prank. Just a funny joke. Anything, to make the pain go away. It was just too much for the girl to handle. Her grandmother had passed away over the weekend, and it had took her mothers owl ages to find Euphrasia, even though it had never before. Euphrasia didn't know her grandmother had passed away for four days. And to think, that Euphrasia was bragging about her beautiful, native American grandmother, to all that would listen. To think that the poor Gryffindor girl was still crying, after rereading the letter for two hours.
If only Euphrasia had been there for her mother and father- but no, she had to be at Hogwarts, learning magic and making friends. Just where her grandmother would want her to be. But Euphrasia wanted to go home, and she knew she couldn't. All she wanted to do was go home and cuddle her parents and cry. Yet she was forced to cry to herself in front of the Great Lake. It took all the self control Euphrasia had to not scream.
After a few minutes, Euphrasia had calmed down enough to where she could wipe away the tears, and try to hide her red, puffy eyes. To no avail could she make the redness go away. When the noise of crunching leaves entered Euphrasia's ears, she quickly turned around, to see a boy around her age, walking to where Euphrasia was. She tried one last time to (unsuccessfully) wipe away the redness and puffiness from her eyes.
"A-are you in a rush?" She quickly asked, "I can move if you need."

Harrowing Tears
Leo moved quickly across the ground, making his way towards the vast lake that lay before him. He'd always loved being around water. Growing up in a seaside town the lake was one of the few things here that reminded him of home. Sure it would never hold a candle to the beach but at least it was something. Today, in particular, seemed like a good day to relax and get some drawing time in.
His hand moved instinctively towards his satchel, which contained a few quills, pots of ink in various colors and some scrap parchment. He had no idea what he'd end up sketching once he settled on a spot, some new clothing designs or maybe the giant squid if it decided to make a sudden appearance.
Moving along he smiled as he saw another student close to the lakeside and began to make his way towards her. He wasn't one to pass up on some company while he was down here, maybe she could even give him some new ideas! As he got nearer he heard her speak up and after a quick look side to side to make sure she was speaking to him he turned and gave her a quick wave, smiling widely.
"Oh hi there, no need to move, the more the merrier! There's plenty of space around here, we can both fit just fine, see?"He paused and dramatically spun around, holding his arms out before ending his miniature impromptu performance with a small bow and looked up at the girl. Now that he was a little closer he could see that the skin around her eyes looked red and kind of sore, had she been out here crying?
Leo didn't know this girl at all, although they were both in Gryffindor if her robes were anything to go by, but the idea of someone sitting outside alone crying as just plain awful. Sure she'd probably come all the way out here for some privacy, maybe that was why she offered to move in the first place, but Leo wasn't leaving until he knew she was okay. His brow furrowed with concern, he moved a little closer to her before speaking again. "Hey are you feeling okay, your eyes look kind of red? If you want to be alone that's okay but I'd feel bad just leaving you here upset."

"Hey are you feeling okay, your eyes look kind of red? If you want to be alone that's okay but I'd feel bad just leaving you here upset."
Euphrasia smiled softly, but it took a lot of willpower to not breakdown. She shook her head slightly, and her hair fell down from her shoulders, blocking any view of her face. She took in a deep breath and looked up.
"Oh, I'm just upset because of something stupid, nothing major," Euphrasia said, pushing back her hair. Everything about that sentence had been a lie, but Euphrasia didn't want to drag someone else into her own life problems.
Euphrasia's violet eyes flickered towards the boy, and she had some sort of familiarity. He was a Gryffindor like she was. And, although she hadn't seen him before, (though maybe during the sorting,) she could tell he was a nice person.
A type of contemplation flickered through her mind, should she tell the boy about her grandmother? Euphrasia didn't even know the boy's name, but she just needed to get all of the emotions off of her chest. It felt like a burden to know her own family members death. Even knowledge could be a burden.
Euphrasia took in a deep breath, and took time with her words.
"My Grandmother died a few days ago, and I'm just upset over it. Nothing big."
