Closed A Letter to Mum

It was not until almost a week after getting to Hogwarts that it dawned on Charlie that he was so far from home. He missed his parents and knew they did too, but his father was not at home and would not be able to read the letter anyway, so he wrote one to his Mum.

Dear Mum,

I have so much to tell you! This school is so different and pretty. The classes are so odd, I never thought we would learn about how to make things float! This is a castle and it has so many places to explore! I do not even know if I will be able to see it all before I leave. I miss you and Dad, love you loads.

How has it been since I left? I hope the terrariums are still alive and good. Tell father I hope to go to breakfast with him during the Christmas holidays, and that I miss him. I have not made many friends yet but I am sure I will soon.

I miss seeing your art everyday. Can you send me a small painting to keep while I’m here? I wish I could see you more.

Charlie solemnly sealed his letter and gave it to one of the school’s owls. Writing the letter had made him realize just how much he missed home, however exciting and beautiful Hogwarts may be.
