Bobby was in the library. Again.

There was just so much to read! She’d never seen so many books in one place before. Besides the Fanai Family Grimoire, there really wasn’t much reading material to choose from back home. Most of Fanai knowledge was passed orally generation to generation. Her Grandmother had explained to her it was more personal that way. Lessons passed down from the past generation in addition to the newer information learned by the current one allowed their Celtic magic to grow but still remain true to its roots. It also helped the community to keep in touch with each other. Allowing their children to learn from one another as each new generation came of age. So to say that Bobby was amazed by the sheer amount of knowledge that rested on the shelves would be an understatement.

Ignoring her classmates, for the most part, the first semester as she took the time to just figure out what she could choose from. She'd spent hours wandering through the shelves, making a personal map for herself and noting where she spotted particularly interesting titles. Near the end of the first semester, Bobby finally reached the back of the library. The sheer amount of dust caused Bobby to leave to retrieve her scarf just so she could stand in the section without risk of hacking a lung out. Once she was satisfied she'd seen it all (except for the restricted section), Bobby dove directly into the magical creatures section. Unfortunately just reading about it wasn’t enough and Bobby may have dunked her head in the Black Lake to try and talk to the Merfolk. But only one person was there to witness that so it basically never happened.

Trying to channel her mother, Bobby took a deep breath and passed by the magical creatures section, though she did allow herself one glance at the shelf of wonderful books. Bobby dragged her feet a bit as she walked further away from her preferred section. Not really caring what she would read next, Bobby let her feet lead her where they may.

Coming close to the end of a row, Bobby turned down the aisle. Before she had the chance to even glance at the shelves around her, she bumped into someone standing near the shelves.

“Oh, sorry.” Bobby apologized, stepping back to give the Slytherin girl some space. “I should prob'ly not let me feet lead me places anymore. Hahaha...” Bobby joked awkwardly, her Irish accent thickening. She laughed to try and ease the awkwardness, but it died in her mouth before it could do any good.

Ruby was always looking for something to fill a part of her desire for information. She was in the Library a lot, and always made sure she had a book to read. Absentmindedly, she wondered if she'd read all the books in here by the time she finished at the school. There were definitely enough books to keep her busy for now, but she was a fast reader and flew through them, devouring many eagerly in the hopes of gaining new knowledge, even if the subject didn't entirely interest her sometimes.

She wandered through the sections and shelves, trailing her fingers over the spines of the books, glancing at some titles, looking for something good. She was pleased at the wide ranges of subjects this library had, and glad that she had access to all of this… well, most of it. At some point, she wanted to try and get some books from the Restricted Section – probably with a professor's permission, but maybe she'd try and find a way to get them without being caught. Perhaps she'd save that for another year, although she wanted to learn as much as she could about everything, whether good or bad.

Ruby paused for a moment, facing the books. She wasn't exactly sure which section she was in anymore, so she examined the titles in front of her to try and figure it out. However, right when she was starting to read a couple of these, she felt something – no, someone – bump into her. Her initial reaction was to scowl, as she was irritated by the interruption, but she quickly made her face neutral and hid the irritation. She then turned to face this person that had collided with her.

Gryffindor. Probably a first year, since I'm pretty sure I've seen her before in class… she instantly thought, going off of the first glance she had got. Irish, her brain provided her with, as soon as the girl started speaking. Embarrassed, nervous, possibly scared, feeling awkward. The initial analyses flowed as Ruby gleaned all the information that she could from the first sentences the Gryffindor had said. Genuine, she realized.

Well, then, why scare her fellow student away? The girl had apologized, and she had seemed willing enough to try and make a joke to make things better. Why was the Gryffindor scared of her already? Was it because of her house? That wasn't particularly fair, now, was it? Did the girl expect her to attack her or something? Ruby mentally shrugged it off. I suppose I'll just have to show her that Slytherins can be nice too, then. Clearly, the girl either had a problem with Slytherins and believed the stereotypes, she assumed everyone would react badly and unkindly, or she had had some bad experiences… of course, there were other options too, but those seemed to be the most commonly reoccurring reasons behind this kind of behavior.

Ruby watched how the girl seemed ready to back away and get out of there at any moment, so she knew she had to pick her words carefully. “Hey, it's okay,” she said in a subtly soothing tone that was accompanied by a friendly smile. “Don't worry about it. I'm pretty sure most of us have bumped into people at one time or another – sometimes it's pretty hard not to. What's your name?”

I don't mind what section they're in – I'm indecisive, rip. Sorry this was so late! Life's been busy, and I hope that you can understand and forgive me :sweatingbullets:
