The Early Snake gets the Bacon PV Closed

Avery hummed idly as she worked out the kink in her shoulder on her commute for breakfast. The stone hallways were dimly lit by candles and the windows only showed a deep blue predawn sky. She was alone in the near silence as even the portraits still slept as she crept her way to the great hall. She'd woken up with sore limbs and a crick in her neck from falling asleep in a love seat in the common room. She vaguely remembered blearily stumbling out of bed after two hours of attempted sleep in a bed too different from her own and into the common room to pass out on the closest couch to the fireplace.
She yawned arms reaching high in the air, only for her to suddenly stop and grimace when the crick in her neck made itself known with a twinge of pain. Avery mumbled a few inventive curses as she rolled her uncooperative neck as she staggered into the great hall to find it devoid of life and food in the early blue morning light.
"Huh. It must be ridiculously early if the food isn't set out yet." She mused, wandering over to the Slytherin table to sit at her previous spot. She folded her arms on the table and laid her head on them while she waited. The warmth of the great hall in comparison to the hallways soothed her, and Avery closed her eyes, welcoming sleep with open arms.

Ruby wandered into the Great Hall. Not many people were up yet, but it was getting closer to a decent time. She had changed out of her pajamas and just generally prepared herself for the day before coming here, all the while being careful not to disturb her dormmates. Anyway, she hadn't felt like sleeping for longer, and she needed to start the day! Besides, she was up before many people normally, as well. The important thing was that she had arrived in the Great Hall by now, and she absorbed everything she could see in there. There was something that was rather different from normal, though. A girl was asleep at the Slytherin table. Curious, Ruby walked over and sat down near her.

She seemed to have been there for a while, and must have been exhausted if she had fallen asleep so soundly. How early had the other girl come here? Ruby hoped that this student got enough sleep. Thinking about it now, she reckoned she had seen her around quite a lot – the girl was a first year Slytherin that Ruby hadn't really got a chance to talk to before. Realizing that she was staring, Ruby let her gaze wander around the room again. Apparently, the two girls were the only ones there. How early was it? She had apparently guessed the time wrong.

Nevertheless, Ruby figured that the food would be out soon. Thinking about it now, she was actually quite hungry… Bored and hungry, she sat there, drifting deep into thought and waiting for something to happen.
