It may be Winter-time but Kaori still couldn't help but eat her lunch on the Quidditch pitch. It was rather empty with only a few other students on the field itself doing broom practice or walking around the field itself. Kaori had come often and watched every game. During her weekly letters from her parents whenever there was a game her father always asked if she was going to join the team at all and how the players look this year. Kaori never really knew how to respond other then the players looked good and she wanted to study first before joining the team.
She had with her another Manga, this one made by a wizard with many moving pictures and words as she read. It was a comedy about a wizard suddenly losing his powers after being hit by a truck and after reawakening having to learn about Muggle life. It was open on her lap as she at a sandwich she made. Adjusting her scarf she grabbed a Bertie Botts every flavour bean and popped one in her mouth and sighed in relief, this one tasted like Lettuce. She smiled as the next one had a nice lemon flavour. Deciding to take her chances she naively put a third into her mouth and immediately regretted it. Rotten egg...
Setting the beans back in her bag she finished her sandwich and pulled out her chopsticks to eat some rice and hamburg steak. It was still warm thanks to her enchanted lunchbox her mom gave her and she was happy as she watched the players practice. The lone spectator in the stands at the moment.

Inara was walking around the castle, exploring. She had just seen the greenhouses and the pumpkin patch, so she decided to see the quidditch pitch. As she arrived there, she marveled at it. The quidditch pitch was just like in the books, 6 hoops, beautiful brooms..... She did remember her mom telling her a litte bit about quidditch... Inara tried to recall.... wasn't she a chaser? She had no idea what a chaser was of course. Most of the students were older, and she didn't feel comfortable talking to them, so she sat down and started eating her lunch... she was wondering where she should explore next when she saw another first year! She noticed that the other first year was reading a book! Maybe she likes reading too? Maybe she knows about quidditch? all these thoughs raced through her head as she walked over to the other first year. "Hello I'm Inara, what's your name?" She asked, rather shyly. Then she added, "Do you know what a chaser is?". She immediately felt foolish. Of course, everybody knew what Chasers were! Well... except for her... She watched the older students for a bit and there was a very akward silence as she waited for the other girl to answer... She was a Hufflepuff? Inara studied the other girls robes, which were yellow. Definitely a Hufflepuff.... she thought.

Kaori was sitting in the benches finishing the last of her lunch. Her final meal consisted of a dessert she "borrowed" from the kitchens. A cupcake filled with a magical sprinkle that would pop when she put it in her mouth. She had just turned her page to her book as the players on the field got on their brooms for another skirmish and she eyed her cupcake ravenously. So caught up in the moment she didn't notice the other girl sneak up on her and when she said hello she gasped a little and looked like she just saw a ghost(or a dementer as ghost are rather harmless in her opinion)
"oh-oh hello" she said softly. "Morita...or actually...Kaori is okay." she gave a little smile and slight bow of her head as they were sitting.
When she heard Inara ask what a chaser she couldn't help but smile. She closed her book and set in her backpack quickly before she pointed to a player holding a ball, the quaffle. "That is a Chaser. They use the Quaffle to score the points." she then pointed to a player holding a red ball, "That is a Beater. They use the Bludger to hit players." she winced as almost if on cue one of the bludgers hit a Chaser. Not very hard, it is just a skirmish afterall. She then finally pointed to the person watching over the goalposts, "That is a Keeper. They are like a goalkeeper." she smiled as she went for a Every Flavour Bean. Thank goodness, the flavour was lettuce. She reached out her hand with the box offering Inara one or two, "Do you like to watch Quidditch too?" she asked.
Her thoughts were swimming. She wondered if she was being too foreceful. All she asked is what a Chaser was and here she was explaining all the positions for the field. Her hand was help out offering the beans but what if Inara got a bad flavour? Surely there are better snacks she could've offered. Maybe Inara will think she is trying to prank her? Surely not. Looking at robes she saw she was a Ravenclaw. Apparently Ravenclaws are smart people so surely she would understand if she got a bad flavour. She tried to give another smile to be friendly.

It's very nice to meet you Kaori! Inara said smiling. Kaori then started to explain the positions of the players, which Inara found very interesting. Then Kaori asked, "Do you like to watch Quidditch too?" Inara didn't know how to respond... she had never watched Quidditch before. She was wondering if she should tell the truth or just say yes, just to pretend she actually had watched it, because Kaori seemed very passionate about it. Inara then realized Kaori obviously knew she hadn't, or else she would know what a chaser was! Maybe she was just asking to be polite, Inara thought. Then she answered, "Well I haven't watched it before.." Then she realized Kaori was offering her what looked to be jellybeans, though she knew what they were, as she had some on the train (and regretted it because she got a liver flavored one). Inara decided to accept the kind offer, and take her chances! Maybe she'd get a good one? She took 2, and popped them in her mouth. The first one was strawberry, which Inara thought was delicious. The second was mushroom, which was not bad, Inara thought, chewing it, but it had a very distinct and interesting flavor. She thanked Kaori for the beans, then asked, "So do you like to play Quidditch?" and, "whats the worst flavor of bean that you ever got? I got a Liver one on the train."

Kaori smiled watching Inara grab the Jellybeans and hoped they were good flavours, she grabbed one and put it in her mouth before setting it back in her backpack and wrapping her scarf tighter around her as a gust of wind blew. Up on the field the skirmish had devolved into a broom race as most just started practicing Snitch catching. A very difficult role. But hearing Inara's comments Kaori nodded understandably, of course she probably hasn't watched Quidditch. She asked what a Chaser was.
She was about to say something but she was interrupted as the snitch ran by them and one of the players rushed by on his broom in front of them, "SORRY!" he shouted behind him. Kaori shook her head clear, "I am not good enough for Quidditch. My Dad used to play on the Quidditch team back home for us. But he quit when we moved here. But he likes it so he taught me many things. Quidditch is very simple so it is okay if you have never watched before now." she chuckled when Inara asked about the Jellybeans, she really must not be a pure-blood to be asking so many questions.
Not that Kaori cared, pure-bloods in Japan didn't have as much a superiority complex against half or muggle-born wizards and her family wasn't very prejudiced. She knew a few cousins who were but they didn't talk to them much. She leaned back and crossed her arms over her scarf and jacket as she thought, hmmm...liver flavour is bad. I have eaten liver flavour beans many times but for me the worst flavour I have got was maybe a Vomit flavour." she thought back to the moment, only a couple years ago and she got a big pack of the beans for her birthday. She opened one up in front of her family and the first bean was the vomit flavour one. Definitely made her birthday an interesting one.
"I got a book on the Quidditch teams this year. For Hogwarts it seems Ravenclaw is good this year." she paused and looked over, "You can have if you want. It also has many..." at this point her English was losing her and she paused trying to find the word, "many Advices and...tips for players." She didn't know if Inara was even interested in learning the sport, she could just be asking about the basics but Kaori wanted to be nice and Quidditch was a passion of hers. One of her few passions to be fair, so if she had a chance to share it she would take it.

Inara ate the Beans, they were good, even if they had odd flavors. She listened to Kaori talk, and she heard her say, "I am not good enough for Quidditch. My Dad used to play on the Quidditch team back home for us. But he quit when we moved here. But he likes it so he taught me many things. Quidditch is very simple so it is okay if you have never watched it before now." Inara wasn't sure what to say. Was Kaori sad that she "wasn't good enough'? Should she comfort her? Kaori then began to talk about the beans, and Inara listened. Then Kaori said, "I got a book about the Quidditch teams this year. For Hogwarts it seems ravenclaw is good this year. You can have it if you want." Inara said, "Thank you so much! I'll just borrow it. Quidditch seems so interesting!" Then as an afterthought, she added "I'm sure you're good at Quidditch since you know so much about it! Do you have a favorite Quidditch team?" Kaori seemed so nice, and so passionate about Quidditch. Inara was pretty interested in it actually, and was thinking about maybe applying for the team if she ever got good enough. "Why don't you apply for the team?" She asked Kaori.

Kaori smiled and reached into her bag to get her book. "The 2023-2024 year on British Quidditch". Detailing a couple local and national teams along with advice and tips for Quidditch players. handing it to Inara I hope you enjoy it. Keep it as long as you want. she smiled as she watched Inara take it and at her question thought for a moment, "I guess here I like Hufflepuff. It is my house and they're not bad. I hope they win a few games this year. But I suppose I just cheer for whoever my Dad likes. He likes the Welsh national team because he says they are...'underdogs', whatever that means. I also like the Japanese national team and the Miyagi Sunbirds. They are the team from where I am from." she spoke a few more words about the teams and how her dad says that Gryffindor always has really good players but she hasn't gotten a chance to see a Gryffindor game yet and so can't see for herself but she pauses when Inara asks why she doesn't apply for the team. Shaking her hand and stammers, oh n-no no! I would be too nervous to join! she points to the players on the field. At this point cleaning up their training, They are so much older and better. I wouldn't be as good as them. Plus I am not that skilled in broom riding. My dad has only taught me a little bit.

Inara listened to Kaori, grateful that she was so nice and willing to talk to her. She heard Kaori say, "oh n-no! I would be too nervous to join! They are so much older and better. I wouldn't be as good as them. Plus I am not that skilled in broom riding. My dad has only taught me a little bit." Inara was about to ask, if you had the opportunity to join, would you want to? Before she could ask though, something silver and furry came pelting after the every flavor beans. Inara looked, and sure enough, there she was. Sighing, Inara said, "Kaori, this is Artemis, my cat. Sorry about the beans, Artemis really likes them. I named her after Artemis, the greek goddess of the hunt, because she really likes hunting and pouncing on things." After making sure Artemis wasn't bothering anybody, Inara then asked the question, "so, if you could join the quidditch team, would you join?". She then looked out at the Quidditch field, and another question occurred to her. She then asked, "How do the brooms stay up?" she remembered reading about flying charms, and she recalled her charms lesson. "This may be a silly question, but do people use Wingardium Leviosa on the brooms?"

Maddie was simply flying around the pitch on one of her brothers old broomsticks when she realized she wasn’t the only one at the pitch today. She saw two girls sitting together talking and eating jellybeans. She also saw a cat that reminded her of her own back home. While she was circling the pitch she convinced herself that she needed to make more friends at Hogwarts and decided to go and talk to them. She descended the broomstick towards the ground, right as she was about to land. Her broom seemed to shake and turn going haywire. “Damn broom!” After multiple attempts at landing it she stopped trying and fell off right in front of the two witches. She shook off the dirt heavy on her face. Her face turned a rather dark shade of red. “I- I.” The words just couldn’t come out of her. Every time she tried to speak it sounded like she couldn’t. After a few minutes of the girls gawking at her, she perked up some more courage. “Er sorry bout that I don’t do that most of the time.” She said rather ackwardly. “I’m Maddie nice to meet you two.” She said shyly. After shaking their hands she asked. “What’s your alls favorite parts of Hogwarts?” “Mine definitely has to be quidditch!”
