One. Two. Three. Dennis kept counting out his winnings. “Thank you very much gents!” Dennis said with a devious smile. Being good at maths pays, he thought. Dennis had been taking wagers from the other students, small things like who can throw a chocolate frog the farthest (for some reason), and bigger stuff like action on sporting events. Dennis had made bank off one of the scrimmages earlier.

More happy customers, Dennis thought as he flung his arms out wide in anticipation of more customers…suckers…customers….Dennis hadn’t figured it out yet. “What can I do for you boys?” He didn’t really know why he was talking like a mafia boss but the young first year thought it felt right.

“We want our stuff back, you aren’t even supposed to be doing this,” one of the older students complained. Obviously not too bright if he got ‘allegedly’ swindled by an 11 year old. These guys looked like they meant business though.

“Good day, gents. I’m afraid there is no refunds. You make a bad bet, the winnings go to the victor, it’s that simple.” Dennis said, raising his arms defensively patting the air between them. They got closer and closer. Dennis didn’t know how to fight and these guys looked like they were reading to shake him upside down. Dennis didn’t really know how to use his wand properly either, he was going to be in a bad way if they got any closer…and closer they came.

Dennis looked around for help, but of course his enterprise required an empty corridor that wasn’t likely to get foot traffic and he didn’t see anyone around who could help him out of this tight spot.

Leon would walk around. Yeah he was lost. Where was the Great Hall again? Crap he must have taken the wrong turn. He would sigh to himself that he is lost. It's those stupid moving stairs!

He rounded the corner to overhear a conversation. Oh? From what he is hearing some bets were made and it seems the losers are... well being sore losers and are wanting their shares back. He would round the corner, making himself at least visible to the kid being questioned, a big smile on his face. "Now listen here. You all are a bunch of no spined cowards trying to start something with a kid, especially since you outnumber him three to one. Good thing I am here to be the judge and jury here."

He would wink at the boy assuring that he had it under control. "From what I understand, you all chose to partake in this bet or whatnot. Which makes you all accomplices. And there's only two ways this can go. You all walk away right here and now, and everyone lives happily ever after. Or you try to start something, and you'll regret it. I am pretty good at fighting. But if you go to the teachers, you also put yourselves into getting a punishment, along with showing your peers that you can't be trusted." He would give them a sly smile, "Believe me, I'm doing you all a favor if you just walk away."

Dennis was a goner unless someone did something fast. Luckily that came quicker than he had anticipated. He caught a glimpse of someone around the corner and then a voice coming from that direction. It was all the distraction that Dennis needed to hightail it out of there. The voice was enough to make the gents turn around and Dennis made a dash down the corridor and nearly slid into a empty corridor.

The grunts were walking toward the newcomer when one of them turned back to notice the Ravenclaw student had vanished. He made a gesture down the hallway and with one last menacing glance toward the Slytherin, ran off down the corridor, past the room Dennis was hiding in.

Once the coast was clear, Dennis came out of the room dusting off his robes and walked around the corner to meet his savior. “Thanks a lot, mate. I was in a real bind back there.” He rounded the corner and there stood a Slytherin. Dennis thought for a minute and then shrugged. Any Slytherin willing to stick their neck out for him was ok in his book.

“The name’s Dennis. Dennis Tumberton. Thanks for the help back there. I owe you one!”

Leon would smirk and get ready for things to get physical. But much to his disappointment, the three older students left him all alone. Well, alone wasn't really the word as the one that the older students were about to shake down for their money came into Leon's view.

He would rub the back of his neck when the other kid thanked him for helping him out, "No prob. They seemed to not really be fun enough to hang out with. Was really looking forward to a fight though."

The other kid would then introduce himself and then thank him again for the assistance. Leon would shrug and then say, "My name's Leon Richardson. And eh... Maybe fill me in on what you're doing and let me have a cut on it, a fair fifty fifty deal. How's that sound?"

He would wonder if the kid would take what he had recommended. In reality, it could work, actually a win win situation for both of them. Leon with his spunk and Dennis with this little plan, and from the sound of it, gambling.

It could work out in their favor. They would just need to be careful and play their cards right for the matter.
