A wizard family in a muggle world
September 1th
Finally, the day had come; it was time for him to begin at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry like his big brother Gavin before him. When Benjamin woke up at 6 o'clock sharp on that morning of September the 1st, he jumped out of bed, raced through the house, and into the shower. His parents got up shortly after, with less energy and mood; his father, Patrick, could never resist a funny fatherly joke, even early in the morning.''You're up early, excited to leave the muggle world for a bit, son?''His father said as Benjamin started up at his mother, who was clearing her eyes after waking up. She didn't look as thrilled as his father. Pricilla seemed pretty sad, which surprised Benjamin when he first started at her from the dinner table. He decided the better option would be to answer his father instead of digging into his mother's feelings, as she was still the stern mother he'd always known.
''Yeah, Dad, I can't wait to see Hogwarts, and the journey on the train will probably be quite magical as well; at least that's what Gavin told me,'' Benjamin answered his father as he finished the last bite of his breakfast, as he began walking out in the bathroom too clean his teeth, as he closed the door to the bathroom. His father had already started cleaning up after his son, as the bowl had already been moved over by the sink with magic; when Benjamin closed the door and yelled to tease his father, ''Scourgify again, dad? I thought you were trying cleaning like muggles this month.'' He could hear his father laughing from the kitchen, obviously trying to please his mother, who preferred magic instead of the muggle way of cleaning.
A few hours later, the family was standing by the wall leading into platform 9 3/4; most of Benjamin's family had tried running through those walls, and now it was his turn. ''Oh, get on with it,'' his mother said abruptly, and his thoughts about getting worried disappeared for a bit. His father started a bit at his wife, probably annoyed by her attitude. Benjamin finally decided it was time; he took his cart and ran towards the wall; one moment, he was roaming around muggles and a few train conductors, and the next, he was standing at platform 9 3/4. His father and mother came in shortly after him, and now it was time to say goodbye as the clock was about to turn 10.30.
Benjamin looked up at his mother; she was clearly affected by the situation as she started making weird faces. Pricilla usually did that when she was about to cry. It was rare for her to cry; Benjamin had only seen her cry once at their Grandparent's funeral, but that was years ago by now. ''Don't worry, Mom, you can always send me an owl, you know,'' he said, trying to cheer her up a bit; she smiled and caressed his cheek; she wrapped her arms around him, almost forcing him into a hug, so he could barely see what was going on around him. ''Mom, don't embarrass me already,'' he said after a few moments in the hug; Pricilla released him and smiled, looking down at his son. ''I know, I'm just so proud of you,'' said Pricilla, and his father Patrick looked almost stunned by her words, as she usually wasn't very good with feelings. Patrick opened his arms, and it didn't take long for Benjamin to embrace his arms, too.
''I'll tell you how the shop is going in Diagonal Ally via owl, and remember to learn more about the muggles and their families while you are at Hogwarts; they are interesting, those muggles, aren't they.'' His father said warmly and fatherly, as usual; his mother looked at him stunned, which made him cough a bit as he corrected his stance and released his son. Suddenly, he heard parents walking by with their child ''Come on, daughter, it's almost time.'' Benjamin looked at his parents one last time before the departure. ''Oh, I must go now; I'll see you soon!'' He said quickly as he approached the Hogwarts Express with his cart as the journey was about to begin. He found an empty compartment inside the train and sat down, looking outside the window, waving goodbye to his parents. Afterward, he found an astrology book and slowly but surely started reading it, going into his own world of imagination.
