Play is our brain's favourite way of learning. (Diane Ackerman)

The closer to the 23rd of October, the more monotonous the conversations around him became. For Sherlock Dols, it seemed that the Hexwizard Tournament was all the students were talking about. It got slightly boring, to be frank; more than just slightly, to be perfectly honest. For several reasons, he himself could not care less about the upcoming competition.

Reason number one, his school did not even participate this academic year. Number two, there would most definitely be oh so many people watching, and Sherlock was not comfortable being squeezed in the middle of an ocean of people. Number three, there was no doubt it would be noisy, and he was not comfortable with loud noises, either.

The tournament took place the very following day. For the moment, in order not to be around too many people, Sherlock had made the decision to have his lunch somewhere else, anywhere but the Hogwarts' Great Hall where he had been accustomed to. And since he was going anywhere, he might as well choose the place he really liked: somewhere outdoor.

The Courtyard looked empty enough, so after taking a smoked salmon sandwich, some water, and a custard éclair, the preteen headed there. Sitting on one of the benches, he started enjoying the sandwich, saving the éclair for dessert.

The Hexwizard Tournament had its positives and negatives. Lea did have some intention to watch since it would be fascinating to see the different schools and their strategies or how well Hogwarts could compete, but Lea also wasn't keen on being squished with everyone else. Still it was something to be excited about, leaving the Hufflepuff in a happier mood than other days. This change deserved a change in scenery- perhaps somewhere else in the castle? Grabbing a slice of spinach quiche and some juice, the girl would leave the Great Hall to find someplace nicer to sit.

The courtyard would come to mind for a nice spot as she thought more on it- close to the castle yet with some pretty sights and fresh air, easy to enter back inside if it got cold. The benches were perfect, immediately glancing between the different sides to find the best spot until she spotted a familiar face. The face of someone she had yelled at- and if Lea recalled, for not great reasons. Pursing her lips in thought, she would stand in the alcove to the courtyard for a bit before a small sigh pushed her forwards towards the boy.

As for what to do once she got directly in front of him? She hadn't planned that far ahead, instead awkwardly standing over him with her dishes in hand, brown eyes glancing at him and then to the open space besides him. "Hello." A good enough place to start, her throat closing before she could let out some sort of apology. She coughed softly. "Um, is it alright if I sit next to you? I- won't complain this time around." There was more he deserved to get from her yet Lea couldn't force it out quite yet as she let the silence hang in the air- awkward, somewhat apologetic, and a bit hopeful.

Someone addressed him, so Sherlock Dols looked up and he faced a pair of brown eyes. The owner had dark skin and dark hair, someone the Castelobruxo student was not familiar with but remembered very well for one particular reason. She was the person who had ordered him to stop talking to Starcatcher, his most loyal friend and companion as long as he did not have a real pet to keep nearby.

Cold sweats broke through his skin, the fear of having the same scene replayed filled his mind; he could already imagine how she would ask where Starcatcher was and why he was not talking with the pony only to take her away from him...

The Hogwarts Courtyard seemed to be turning upside down, his queasiness increased and he lost his tongue for a moment. Sherlock was so sure he was about to throw up when suddenly he found the ability to speak once again. "Eh, yes. Yes, you can have this seat, it's free, no one's using it," he rambled, almost more like a mumble instead of a reply. (Even though if it was, it barely answered her question, too.)

He was getting ready to leave, collecting his stuff, attempting to prevent the tears and heartache that could follow from repeating his interaction with this pupil.

The amount of panic that seemed to encapsulate the boy was nothing that Lea could have imagined from those words before. Yes, she had been mean but surely he realized that her opinion was a rather common one? The almost instinctual reaction was to go back to that anger, annoyance, and frustration yet the guilt sunk her heart too far. He was already distressed just from having seen her, without any additional lash outs, the panic even silencing him for a time. And- it would take her a little longer to realize- the pony was gone. Or at the very least, not in her immediate sight. Whether that was good or bad Lea had yet to decide, but she still felt wrong for her action in that decision.

His ramblings weren't the answer she was looking for, almost interrupting him but stopping herself before trying once more as he began packing up his stuff. He couldn't leave now, not when she had no clue where to find him again. This felt like her one opportunity and while the Hufflepuff had no clue what to truly say, it couldn't end this quickly. A hand almost reached out to stop him before Lea hesitated, letting her arm instead hang awkwardly in the air. "No, I- I don't want to kick you out of your spot." She stopped, taking a small step back to give him some space and check that he hadn't continued packing up before adding on, "I wanted to talk- to you- and apologize." She almost seemed to slink in on herself, voice growing smaller with each word but still enough for the other to hear clearly. A final pause, a hesitance of whether to add something in yet, then the girl watched with her head slightly tilted down to see if the boy would stay and take the chance or not.

Let me know if I should add some more or if this is okay!
