- Monica held tight to the blanket. Feeling the warmth circulate within the fabric. Half hearing the Hufflepuff make it clear she was perfectly fine without, Monica ignored her words, unraveled herself and lay the blanket over the two of them, sharing the warmth. Monica's shoulders shook with the exposure to the cool air, but it wasn't really that bad. And as her nerves calmed she felt like she could handle the cold a little better.
Inhaling deeply, Monica threw her gaze towards heaven, the starry night dominating the sheik sky. She let out her breath, that danced in the air in front of her. Mind racing, maybe her parent already know that Victoria disclosed her adoption. Maybe they are waiting to hear how Monica feels about the whole thing?
But... What if?
What if it's a shock that the young Prefect even knew? What if they turn their anger to Victoria? Disowning her as their daughter? What if they don't want Monica home for Christmas?
Her head fell into the palms of her hands as she tried to calm her thoughts. As angry as she was with her parents.... how would they react to this whole situation? After all they worked extremely hard to keep this adoption under raps.
Collecting her thoughts, she sat up once again, and looked back at Marietta. She was here, willing to bare the cold as Monica had her melt-down. Willing to listen. And yet.... would she understand? Would anyone understand? The truth of the matter is in this moment Monica's parents felt like strangers now....
Folding up the letter, she placed it deep in her pocket. "You know my mom owns her own bakery..." Her voice was corse, but she pushed to speak as clearly as she could. "I'm sure she would agree that these are next level, Grade A Cookies." Forcing a smile to grow on her face. "Maybe we could actually make a batch together sometime.... if you would like to that is." She wanted to get away from the adoption subject. She wanted to burry the whole thing deep in her mind, wanted to send a letter of notice, stating she wasn't going to be home for Christmas, and leave it at that.
She wasn't ready to face the emotional monster in her mind, at least not tonight.
She reached out her hand and placed it on top of Marietta's, "Thank you so much for being here.... and listening to my issues." She took a slow breath. "Perhaps I have an idea of what to send to my parents."OOC: If you want to end the thread, I am good with that. Also I would be interested in maybe doing a baking thread??? Only if you would like to.

Won't Be Home For Christmas
Marietta would relax once under the blanket. She had been freeing, despite her sentimentals; which were true! Just not completely, even a lifetime of happy childhood memories couldn't save you from frostbite. She would even go so far as to pull it up a little so more of her was covered by the blanket, ensuring Monica still had plenty.
It had been awhile since Marietta had done this. While she knew it was horrible and selfish... She felt more complete after helping people like this. Maybe Marietta didn't matter, but hopefully the small things she did for others mattered. Someone as insignificant as herself could never make a change but maybe but doing stuff like this she could help others into the direction of changing things.
Marietta though about this then waited for Monica to finish her reverie. One of the most important parts about these chats was making sure the person she was talking to digested it all. At last Monica opened up and talked again. But not about the adoption thing. That was okay though Marietta was happy to let the topic drop sensed that seemed to be the more comfortable direction for Monica.
Marietta would grin and bounce slightly at the compliment, not as cautious. "Thank you!! Awe that really means a lot. While I would love to cook with you sometimes... I-I kinda get baking shy... I screw up a lot with over people watching. Like the yips but more conditional. " She'd say with an awkward smile.
"Your very welcome, and hey, if you ever need help tackling such issues, by all means come find me! It truly makes me happy to know I could help!" Marietta would gently squeeze Monica's hand.

OOC:Sorry while back I found out its illegal for me to enter the kitchen or talk about my character using it so will have to leave it at that. And yeah I'd like to t end the thread here.
One step is all it takes to start moving. One mistake is all it takes to start falling. One pair of gloves is all it could take to turn a miserable life around. | Also playing Miryam Mbasssi
