The Sorting ceremony 2018-2019
Jayden followed the group of students while standing in a perfect line, and his facial expression revealed huge surprise as they entered the Great Hall. So many thoughts began to race through his mind, especially considering that his father, once a Hufflepuff, never wanted to tell him anything about this moment. He barely knew much the four Houses but, after listening to the funny Sorting Hat singing, he may have realized that becoming a Slytherin was his least favorite choice, mostly because he heard some really bad rumors inside the train and between most of the students inside the castle. It was time to remain calm and approach the small stool, he was definitely ready.
The Sorting Hat started to speak as it was sitting right on top of Jayden's head, "What do we have here? I can recognize this quite well, good memories. Another Mitchell, aye? I remember your dad, nice lad, a bit naive, and I called Hufflepuff for him. Would you like it? I am sure you would like to follow his steps." Jayden was starting to get slightly anxious, too much talking in a moment that he wanted to end as soon as possible. "Oh, there is no need to be in a rush. I can see you are kind, loyal, but there is plenty of ambition and leadership inside you, a boy who is really determinated to achieve his goals. Which will it be?" The Sorting Hat stopped talking, now everybody was silent, waiting for the final call. "Slytherin!" It shouted. The first year student got up on his feet unsure about it.
Jayden was curious to learn about his new House and, ready to prove doubters, he walked towards the Slytherin table where almost every student was cheering, loudly. It was the beginning of something.

Blake smiled a bright smile and stood in the corner of the waiting room, playing with her flufy long hair. She was thinking of the house she would be chosen to, Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, Slytherin or Ravenclaw. What she was thinking about isn't like any other eleven years old would be thinking when they first go to a magical place like Hogwarts. She was consider what house she wanted to get sorted into. Slytherin seems obviously her house, but she didn't wanted to get sorted into though, her friend Rudolfa didn't liked that house much.
Gryffindor is probably her house since she didn't afraid of anything at all, but she was probably to cold blooded for that house. Ravenclaw would be the perfect house for her since she loved learning new thing alot, and it might be easier for Ravenclaw to find a job after graduated since they are mostly not as reckless as Gryffindor, doesn't have a bad reputation as Slytherin, and Hufflepuff.... Hufflepuff is just... nice... she definitely have zero potential of being a Hufflepuff...
"Lilith, Blakesly!" A voice shouted her name out, without a hesitation, she walked confidently to the chair and sat down as the hat was put on her head.
'Hm...' She could hear the hat humming 'You have an enormous potential of becoming a dark witch, Blake, it was weird since both your parents were nothing but nice and good Hufflepuff'
"People say that a lot" She answered, casually like she wasn't surprised at all by the talking hat.
'Well, it's obviously that you were born to be a Slytherin, but you don’t want to be a Slytherin. No, corrected, your friend didn’t want you to be sorted to Slytherin. Well then, even you should have a second chance to live your life Blake, no Slytherin then.’ Blake sighed in relief
‘Hufflepuff…? No’ Of course no, she would be surprised if the hat said yes ‘Ravenclaw?’ Blake’s heart jumped a little bit with hope ‘A thirst for knowledge, brilliant mind if was used properly, yes… but that thirst for knowledge will soon fall to darkness… No’ Blake with her eyes opened wide, shaken by what the hat just said, her need for knowledge would soon fall to darkness, what does that even mean? Does that mean she was going to become a dark witch? But if not Slytherin, Ravenclaw nor Hufflepuff… then Gryffindor?? No, nope, not in a million year that she wanted to get sorted to that house, all Blake saw about Gryffindor was some brave but blockheaded those she sometime meet at Diagon Alley!
‘ Not all Gryffindor are blockhead Blake. I certainly have an explainable reason to choose your house. You have a soul which doesn’t fear of anything in the world, people say ‘I’m not afraid’, but you Blake, you could only say ‘I don’t afraid. You’re more than ready to do anything you need for the one you love, which amount are very little’. Very well then…. GRYFFINDOR!!!!!
Blake stepped down to the Gryffindor table with a frantic clapping noise, feeling unsatisfied the first time in her life with the answer she was given. The hat’s last words still echoed in her mind, and it will stay there forever
‘Rudolfa would love you no matter what you will become Blake, Slytherin or not…’

The Sorting ceremony 2018-2019
Leslie felt anxious as she arrived in the great hall. A lot of other students were already in the great hall. She tried to look at some of the other first years. Maybe she knew someone. But no... she was alone now. She saw the four giant banners hanging from the sky as she walked towards the sorting hat. She was wondering in which house she would belong to. Would she be a brave Gryffindor, a loyal Hufflepuff, a cunning Slytherin or a wise Ravenclaw. Leslie her father was a brave Gryffindor, but Leslie had the feeling she wouldn't fit in there. She is shy and she wasn't brave enough to step up to someone.
Leslie made her way to the sorting hat. She walked between two of the main tables. Leslie waited till her names was being called. "Nettle Ruby Leslie". Leslie was scared as she had to step up to the sorting hat. This was the most important point now. In which family would she belong to? The sorting head was placed on her head. It felt a bit dirty. But well the hat was already really old. "Ah interesting... a shy one... But also curious and creative. I know the perfect place! RAVENCLAW!"
Leslie smiled as she heard in which house she belonged to now. From now on she is a first year Ravenclaw!

Astoria walked into the Great Hall with her new friends, Zelda and Milly. She was overwhelmed by the castle and its glow as they came across the Black Lake in boats. The castle looked as though it could stretch high into the clouds and Astoria was ready to climb every tower and search every dungeon. She wasn't normally this ambitious but it seemed as though she had a new sort of spark in her heart from starting the day giving her family members goodbye hugs and to stepping into the boats just moments ago.
Entering the Great Hall, Astoria followed the group of first year students down the aisle of tables. There were Slytherins and Gryffindors to one side of her and Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs to the other side. She smiled at some of the students who watched her and others march to their fate with the Sorting Hat. She listened as the students were welcomed into the Great Hall and to Hogwarts. Eventually, names were listed and students were called up one by one to sit upon a wooden stool and have the Sorting Hat placed on their heads.
As students were sorted, Astoria's name was closer and closer to being called. Soon enough, her name rang in the air "Astoria Rosalie Middleton." She went pale in the face and gently moved her way through the group of students who were waiting to be called. She made her way up the few steps and turned to see the entire Hogwarts students and staff staring at her. She sat upon the stool and the Sorting Hat was placed upon her head.
"Ah, a Middleton we have here." Began the Sorting Hat "I see courage within you and much of creativity as well. Your level of creativity is much higher than those I have seen. However, I see a flame of loyalty and passion as well. Let's see here...where to put you..." Astoria said in her mind Please Ravenclaw...please Ravenclaw. The voice of the Sorting Hat spoke again "Ravenclaw you desire yes?" he continued "Ravenclaw, the house of intelligence, knowledge and creativity. Much of those qualities you hold, but your kind demeanor and pure heart for friends cannot hide. That being said...better be...HUFFLEPUFF!"
It was a moment or so before Astoria's house was finally announced. Hufflepuff was her house and even though she was upset, she at the same time felt that Hufflepuff was just right as well. She smiled proudly and remembered what her parents had told her: Follow your own magical journey, not what others had journeyed already... She rushed to the Hufflepuff table, and she knew right there, Astoria was destined to be a Hufflepuff.

The Sorting ceremony 2018-2019
Leo walked into the Great Hall, close to the front of the crowd of students surrounding him. All of them ready to be sorted by the hat sat on a small stool in the center of the room. A hat that, in Leo's opinion, could use some ribbon and a sewing needle to bring it forward a few decades. Hogwarts must have wanted to keep an old fashioned vibe or something. One by one the students were called, each moving to one of the four tables, each brightly decorated with banners representing the four houses.
"Leo Butler"
Finally, my time to shine! Upon hearing his name being called Leo confidently walked up to the hat, quickly sat down and begun adjusting it on his head, moving the brim out of his face and smiling at the students in the crowd and those sat at each table. If he had to wear this thing he was going to look good doing it.
"Well well, looks like I've got an enthusiastic one on my hands here, another Butler eh? I remember sorting your father quite clearly, a Hufflepuff through and through. Your mother was an easy one too, Ravenclaw I believe."
Leo honestly didn't care which house he ended up going into. It really just chose where you slept and who you want to class with, plus his parents always said that all those house stereotypes were outdated. Even if there was some truth to them, it wasn't like they were forced to hang out together for that long. Until then, he'd go in with an open mind, if this hat was ever going to get around to sorting him that is.
"I know that already, I live with them. You're supposed to be telling me where I'm meant to go! Maybe not Ravenclaw though, my mum told me about that riddle knocker thing, I'm not any good at those and I'm not going to risk getting locked out for that." Leo thought, hoping to help the hat hurry this thing along.
"Unfortunately I'm not going to choose your house based on what's more convenient for you. Still, Ravenclaw isn't the house for you or Hufflepuff for that matter. Plenty of creativity in there and you do value honesty quite highly but no, there's something else. You're not afraid of what anybody thinks of you are you? No, you want your voice to be heard and you'll do just that in...GRYFFINDOR!"
Leo smiled as the hat was removed from his head and he moved towards the cheering table covered in red. It looked like his first year was starting out just fine.

The Sorting ceremony 2018-2019
The great hall was incredible. Eleanor had an idea of what Hogwarts was going to look like, of course, as she had spent most of her time after visiting Diagon Alley reading up on what to expect from the school, but to actually see Hogwarts in all of its magnificence was breathtaking. Candles floated above the children's heads, twinkling in front of a sea of stars. The sky was visible in lieu of a real roof (an enchantment, a part of her whispered, real magic), and clouds floated past aimlessly.
Eleanor's eyes stayed wide open as she watched the other students one by one walk up to the large hat and get it placed on them. She inwardly thought the large, singing hat was a silly way to decide where they would be spending the next seven years but didn't question it.
Moments of tense silence before the other children were sorted made Eleanor's heart race with trepidation. Houses at Hogwarts seemed to be incredibly important to everyone, and to claim that she wasn't stressed out about where she would be placed would be a lie. The idea that she was to be judged on her traits in front of an entire school was absurdly anxiety-inducing to the girl, but she tried to take it in stride. If this is what it took to learn about magic, (real, tangible, magic) she could manage a bit of stress.
The Headmaster read out another name, and she was snapped out of her thoughts suddenly as she realized belatedly that it was her own. Eleanor took a deep breath and walked up to the stool, sitting down before she could have any second thoughts. The musty old hat was placed on her head promptly and fell down before her eyes, surrounding her in darkness.
"Oh, hello there," a tinny voice whispered into her head. Eleanor jumped a little in her seat, surprised by the intrusion.
"What a bright young girl you are, yes, you remind me of a hat I used to know..." Her brows furrowed under the floppy hat.
"Ah, you could be good in any house I place you in. What power... Yes, Ravenclaw would serve you well, and Slytherin would protect you. Perhaps not Hufflepuff, dearie, you should work on your manners. But oh, the things you could do with the lions. Yes, I must say:
GRYFFINDOR!"

The Sorting ceremony 2018-2019
Clover brushed her hair back from her face; she was standing somewhere in the middle of the group of first years. They were all waiting before the Headmaster, who was giving a speech before they were to head to the Sorting Ceremony. Clover had to admit, all of this was a little daunting, and she wasn't one to get scared often. She was in a big castle, too big to almost comprehend, and her family and friends could never know about it. She was very much on her own and that was new to her. Being a young child she always had someone familiar looking after her but now she was in a completely new environment with people she previously never knew existed and was going at it alone.
She released the piece of robe she'd been gripping too tightly. Her knuckles were white but she wasn't scared, just a little cautious, as anyone in her position should be.
After the speech, when they were walking through the halls, Clover made sure to pay attention to the rooms, she could never be too careful about preventing herself from getting lost later on. They'd began in the Entrance Hall, went down a few corridors, then a few more...and somehow they finally got into the Small Hall, which was right before the Great Hall, the one where she could hear the sounds of hundreds of voices conversing through the doors.
The Headmaster concluded his little tour and they entered the Great Hall, and the voices hushed. Clover gaped with wide eyes—this place was extraordinary! She could barely fathom the hanging lights, the strange ceiling, the people...it was all very exciting.
Grinning, Clover followed with the rest of the first-years—and there were a lot of them—towards the back of the Hall, where the line of professors sat. They stopped close to the edge of where the tables where; there were four of them, one for each House, she was guessing. Students wore robes with different colored accents depending on which table they sat at, red, yellow, blue, and green. Clover tried to imagine herself as an older student sitting amongst these kids watching someone else go through their Sorting Ceremony, and that made her then think about which House she'd get into.
Not long before the school year had started she'd been relaxing in the Leaky Cauldron with a few other witches, just talking. Some of them were older students and others were Hogwarts Alumni. They shared their stories and experiences with Clover and told her what to expect, especially with certain students and professors. Clover took this information in but she had made it obvious that she was more interested in the House and how people were sorted into them, since which House she was put in would determine how the rest of her school years would turn out.
How they worked was explained clearly enough that Clover understood that it was based off of her deep values. She was only eleven and didn't dwell on those types of things too much but the other witches said she'd probably get into Hufflepuff or Gryffindor. They joked about Slytherin, saying that's where the most gruesome of people came from, referring to the arrogant Purebloods and dark wizards. Clover told the girls that it'd be funny if a nobody like her became one but they just looked at her strangely, which made her uncomfortable.
“Garlick, Clover!” It was the raggedy, old hat, calling out in his piercing voice.
Wincing at the sound of her government name, Clover hesitated. So it was her turn to sit down and have someone rummage around her brain, apparently, to figure out what House she'd be in for the next seven years. Clover brushed pass the students and went to sit down. Barely four seconds passed before the Hat cried out, “GRYFFINDOR!”
Flicking her eyes towards the Slytherin table, Clover let out a sigh of relief. It wasn't that she didn't want to get sorted into the House of Snakes...she guessed she felt like there were less things to worry about after being put into Gryffindor.
She felt the corner of her mouth rise and headedvover the red clad table, appreciating the cheerful applause from the students. She felt like this was the right place for her already, why wouldn't she be a Gryffindor? She had the heart and pride of a lion. And the mane of one, too, Clover thinks, patting her own wavy brown hair.
She couldn't wait to see what was in store for her in the upcoming weeks...not even that, the upcoming years. She just hoped it would be filled with more fun than problems.

The Sorting ceremony 2018-2019
Though she'd never admit it, Catherine's palms clammed with each step she took towards the sorting hat as it's ghastly smile seemed to taunt her. Oh feck off, Catherine all but screamed in her head, her hesitancy hiding behind her newfound determination to not falter, not in front of everyone else especially.
When placed upon her head, he grunted, a tisky noise hidden in the back of his throat. "O'Boyle.... oh trouble, I presume, like your brothers..." There were some hooting as her eyes fell on some of her brothers. Kearon was a Gryffindor as the O'Boyle kids fearless leader, then her brothers Adien and Alec, who were only a mere 11 months apart and proud Slytherins... The hat chuckled, "Ah? Brave like Kearon you think.... that you are young Boyle but, no... no no... I don't think you would fit there..." Her eyes glanced up at the lid of the hat, a small sneer as she heard his bravery comment but looked down, knowing fighting with him would be no good.
Catherine smiled somwhat as her last older brother caught her eye. Oh Sean, she thought as he stood proudly with his Ravenclaw friends. Her entire family was surprised when he had been sorted in Ravenclaw rather than Slytherin but as she peered on out at him, Catherine knew he belonged. Once again the sorting hat almost jumped with her thoughts, a loud cackle as he sorted through her mind.
"Oh Catherine! So many choices- a family of differences. Are you a Ravenclaw like Sean? No...." He grunted again before another round of booming laughter followed. "A farm girl! Oh the stars... I see... cunning.. loving... smart... all qualites of a melting pot but I see you Catherine O'Boyle... and your trouble is about to begin..... SLYTHERIN!"
The black and green robes thundered with sound of acceptance that even Catherine couldn't pretend flattered her as she hurried down the steps towards her new family. Alec and Adien englufed her in a hug, their height towering even her large height as they were entering their fifth year together. "Lass, you were worried, huh?" Alec chuckled, setting his younger sister down.
Adien patted Catherine on her head, a smirk sketching across his lips. "You are a bang on Slytherin, sis."

Adien patted Catherine on her head, a smirk sketching across his lips. "You are a bang on Slytherin, sis."
Who is that?
Catherine O'Boyle
"Oh, no, there goes that other O'Boyle."

Nick could barely contain his shakes as he stood beside his fellow First Years, awaiting his name to be called, sit on a stool, have a hat placed upon his head, and apparently, be magically told which house he belonged in. The whole idea seemed pretty appropriate for a Magical School. One by one, each took their turn to sit and be placed upon a team, well, not a team, a House, that's how they called them, Houses.
"Kingsman, Nicholas"
Oh boy, that was his name, wasn't it? Yeah, it definitely was, no doubt about it. He took a step forward, grabbing the attention of all on the hall of course, which didn't help his trembling. With a deep breath, he made his way and sat on the stool, he could feel his heart on his chest, ba-dumping harder than ever. The hat was cold to the touch once it was placed on his head, and the voice that popped up on his mind suddenly was more than enough to spook him, but he just shook a bit, and stayed still as best he could.
"Kingsman?", the voice spoke, "That is very interesting... Kingsman's a name I hadn't heard since... Well... He's not the center of attention now, isn't he?", Nick felt dizzy, his eyes opening like dinner plates at the mention of who he could only assume was his father, "Let's focus on you... Brave, Like the lion... Loyal, like the Badger... Wise? Ambitious? No, no... Definitely not..."
Nick was very much confused, what was the hat talking about? Lions? Badgers? And did he just call him dumb? He was doubting if he should feel offended, but even then, he felt like he shouldn't interrupt the hat. Let alone talk to a piece of clothing that apparently, wasn't being heard by the rest of the crowd.
"I feel great Kindness within you... The desire to protect those who cannot do it by themselves... Yes, you would even hurt yourself if that meant saving another... But you can be jealous, can't you? Oh well, that's just human... Even then, you'd never betray a friend... Yes, yes... I think you're going to...", Nick pressed hard what was hold in his right hand, awaiting confirmation that he'd be chosen for... "What's this?", the hat seemed to wander off the point, "You hold something... Not yours, it belongs to... I see...", Nick didn't know what to do, the hat started rambling about that? Why? Didn't he say this was about him? What did that have to do with him?! "I think I'll change my decision slightly this time... No need to thank me, afterall... You clearly belong in-
"HUFFLEPUFF"
Nick was much confused, but at the same time, slightly happy, afterall, she was on that house too... Hopefully this meant he'll get to see her again soon, return her what wa hers. For now though, he walked to the cheering table, full of what seemed really friendly people, all with yellow decorated robes.

The Sorting ceremony 2018-2019
Euphrasia Millie had never been a girl that was nervous, or ever had worries, but it seemed the moment she stepped inside Hogwarts, everything about that was thrown away. Her hands shook and her legs trembled. She had grabbed part of her midnight black robes, squeezing them with force. It wasn't too much of a relief, but it did add some comfort.
The violet-eyed girl stared around the Great Hall with wide eyes, seeing ghosts float around diligently, seeing other students watch the first-years with interested eyes, paintings moving around (which she particularly was astounded by,) and teachers quietly conversing.
Names were being called and the short girl couldn't help but wait anxiously, she had seen so many students walk up with confidence, and others with fear. Euphrasia listened patiently to the names, but none resonating with her own.
Suddenly, another fear struck her. Her name was Euphrasia Millie. It wasn't easy to pronounce. Her lips pressed into a fine line, as she continued on the thought, that her name may or may not be pronounced right. After all, being in all those muggle schools proved the name Euphrasia wasn't easy to say. Why, in Merlin's name did her parents choose the name Euphrasia? Why not something like Ella?
"Millie, Euphrasia!"
The girl numbly pushed herself forward, trying to not let her body collapse on the floor. Her name had for once, been pronounced right. Euphrasia really wished everyone wasn't looking at her.
Euphrasia sat on the stool, it was wooden. The hat was placed on her head, and a voice began talking, in a husky, deep voice. She had never heard anything like it.
"Millie? I've never heard such a name..." The hat trailed off, and Euphrasia picked right up, "My family heritage is in North America. I was born here."
But the hat didn't seem to be listening, it seemed to be thinking. Euphrasia nervously waited, it hadn't taken the other students this much time. Then, the voice echoed through hear mind once more, but she was barely listening.
"Kind, very kind... but I sense something else inside of you, bravery and courage. Wisdom is in your mind, and ambition in your blood. Where to put you..." Euphrasia was quite certain that bravery and courage was one in two, but she wasn't the old mysterious hat.
Suddenly, a loud voice boomed words that, Euphrasia thought, could be heard all the way to London.
"GRYFFINDOR!"
