Babbles Hidden Within a Beverage
Axyen had a brewed a potion within the first or second week of school, he didn't remember when. Axyen woke up on a nice October 21st(Saturday), ready to attempt to prank professor Regan. He had held this day off for quite a while now, not that he minded waiting until November to prank the professor, or probably never. But he even told his brother he would be able to prank a professor, Jacob(Axyen's older brother) simply laughed at the idea. Axyen felt challenged now, so he needed to pull this off. Axyen went down to the Kitchens and got a few snacks(He just couldn't resist) and most-importantly a drink, apple juice, because who doesn't like that? Axyen was getting closer to the dungeons, Axyen had been used to going down there by now, but today, it seemed much more spookier. I'll eat lunch first! Axyen thought to himself, the longer he held this off, the better. Axyen was considering delaying this prank... again, but then an owl flew down, dropping off a letter from Axyen's family, asking how he was, and how school was treating him. Axyen was writing a response, then he came across his brother's portion of the letter, explaining how he may get a job as a professional duelist, and also asked if Axyen managed to prank anybody yet...
Axyen sighed, enough was enough, he went back to the Hufflepuff Common Room, grabbing the potion. Axyen poured a bit of the Babbling Beverage into the potion. Axyen was sure this plan would work, he had revised the plan enough to at least not laugh(or attempt to). Axyen wondered if mixing the drink would have it change color. If only I had considered to ask sooner.... Axyen thought to himself, he didn't want to go out of his way to brew the potion again.
Axyen wandered down to the dungeons and paused, it felt pretty suspicious coming down to the Potions classroom with only a drink, it just felt obvious somehow. Axyen climbed up the stairs and found the kitchen again. Axyen climbed down the stairs very carefully, he didn't want to ruin the chocolate chip cookies and he especially didn't want to mess up the drink, as that had his potion. After what felt like hours, Axyen finally got close to the classroom, until a new problem occurred to Axyen. What if she isn't even here? And I walked all the way down here for nothing? Axyen asked himself. "P-professor Regan...?" Axyen called out, entering the door frame of the classroom with the tray. Stop overthinking your words. Axyen thought to himself, sometimes it really felt like he hadn't changed as he still stuttered over his words. Axyen felt pretty nervous, and if she was in the classroom, it'd be far too late back out now, as he already had the drink and the tray of cookies.
Axyen suddenly wondered if the professor even liked chocolate chip cookies, or maybe she was potentially allergic to chocolate. Axyen's wonderful planning felt like it was slowly starting apart, and Axyen suddenly felt an urge to laugh, even though the funny part didn't even happen yet. Axyen managed to suppress a smile by biting his tongue.
Axyen wore a grey long-sleeved shirt with yellow stripes near the top and bottom of the shirt. There was a Hufflepuff badge pinned to the shirt. Axyen wore long black pants as well. Axyen decided it'd be wise to not bring a scarf or robe to the classroom, as the classroom was often hot. Inside the pocket of his jeans, the end of his wand was sticking out a bit, as Axyen always brought it around, just in case.Mentioning...@Méabh Regan

The days that saw Méabh spending the time after class alone in her classroom weren't the most exciting of days, generally speaking. They also happened far too frequently, but what was a woman to do? The next days often required preparing more potions, or grading assignments, or... perhaps she'd just started getting stuck in the daily trot. Worse was that it was a Saturday this time, but she'd started this potion yesterday, so it needed to be done today.
With a sigh, she gave her potion a stir, then flicked her wand to move the equipment she'd used to prepare the ingredients to clean itself off and sort into neat stacks while she waited for the brew to finish up. All things done, she flicked the fire off, then sighed (again? This much sighing couldn't be good for a woman barely turned thirty), and hopped up on her desk - the small, uncluttered corner of it that was her usual seat during class as well, to stare at the quiet classroom.
She did like teaching. Turned out she kind of had a knack for it, or at least she liked to think so. She just needed something to shake her out of her funk...
As if the universe had heard her and responded, a hesitant voice drifted in from the hallway, and she blinked for a moment before reacting, shifting to peer at the door. "Yeah?" she replied, watching as one of her second year students came into view, looking nervous. "Oh, Axyen, hi," Méabh said, scanning the Hufflepuff quickly to determine if she should be worried. He was carrying something, but didn't appear hurt or particularly distressed. "Do you need something?"

Axyen heard a reply which meant that thankfully professor Regan was here. Now the hardest part was tricking her into drinking the Babbling Beverage which as long as Axyen didn't laugh. He suddenly wondered if just like food potions can go bad over time. The professor greeted Axyen before asking him if there was something that he needed. Okay Axyen, don't mess this up. You only have one shot to try this. Axyen reminded himself in his head. What do I say? Axyen asked himself, before just saying whatever came out of his mouth. "Oh... um, I.." Axyen paused for a moment to not tip over the tray, which was an excuse for not knowing what to say next. Uh, a question, wait, no. I'll just go with that, I don't have any other options. Axyen told himself, this was one of his more complicated pranks, it had all these extra steps. It was nothing compared to getting a chocolate frog and waiting around the corner for a victim to scare. "...I... had a few q-questions." Axyen said hoping that professor Regan would buy it. Axyen bit his tongue in order to not smile. Now I need to think about what to ask, uh... do potions go bad? Yeah that'll do.
"Is... it okay if I come inside?" Axyen asked, he didn't want to continue to worry about trying to talk and balance the tray of food. "I-I brought some snacks as well." Axyen said(on the quieter side). He looked at the apple juice mixed with Babbling Beverage, being sure to especially not tip it over the wrong way. If it spilled that was it, the prank would completely fail. Axyen began to think a little deeper. So once I pull this off... do I run? Stay? Hide? What would Jacob do? Axyen asked himself, but Jacob did all sorts of things that Axyen would consider 'beyond crazy'. Where would I even run to? I barely go down these dungeons except when I have to. Axyen told himself, if he ran, he most-likely wouldn't follow his usual path to exit the dungeons. Axyen knew he couldn't back out now, it was too late considering he already mentioned the snacks and it would be suspicious for him to just suddenly turn around and leave. Axyen didn't exactly feel like going through the dungeons not even knowing where he was going either. Axyen probably would make a few panicked turns as well, which left him with the option to simply stay in the classroom and accept whatever punishment he could think of.
Axyen also remembered Arnold, who was sleeping all the way in the dormitory, if he just got this over with quickly he can return to Arnold before he wakes up. Axyen already poured the food and water if Arnold woke up before he arrived, but still, Axyen didn't want to have the Pygmy Puff wake up all alone. It struck Axyen how much of his (seemingly rapidly falling apart) plan he didn't account for. I didn't think this one through at all... Axyen reminded himself which was simply not what he needed, but then a thought struck him. Maybe she won't get mad, it's just Babbling Beverage, nothing like destroying the classroom... Axyen felt silly all of a sudden, he overthought everything and now it has him completely stressed over nothing, nothing at all. Axyen bit his tongue again to not smile, which he must've done more times than he could count today. Usually he wasn't this excited when he was doing pranks, but this was the ultimate prank to Axyen. No prank up until this point could compare to this one, well, that was assuming professor Regan drank the apple juice(or potion) to begin with.Mentioning...@Méabh Regan

Axyen seemed... out of it, somehow, stuttering and stumbling his way through the door and his request to ask some questions. Nervous, perhaps, more so than what she'd come to expect of him, and Méabh's eyes narrowed slightly as she tried to place the source of his discomfort. "Snacks are always welcome," she replied cheerily, gesturing for him to come in and set down his tray on a table. "So are questions." Although the students rarely came down to the dungeons on a weekend to ask those. Something was definitely off here... but perhaps the kid just needed someone to talk to, and was too awkward to just come out and say it.
She hopped off her desk and sauntered over to Axyen, leaning forward to inspect the promised "snacks". Chocolate chip cookies, it seemed, and an amber coloured liquid of some sort. She sniffed, and the corner of her mouth quirked up. "Apple juice?" she guessed. "You've got good taste." She hadn't had any in years, but it would always remind her of summer afternoons at home in Ireland, her grandmother handing her and her sister a glass of cold apple juice. Was it just the light, or did this juice look a bit more orange than what she remembered?
"So..." Ignoring the chairs that were readily available all around the classroom, she sat down on the next desk instead, reaching for a cookie while she watched Axyen closely. She still didn't quite buy that he'd come down here just because he was curious about potions, although she'd commend his dedication if it was true. "Your offering has been made and accepted. What questions about the mysterious and intriguing art of potion making can I answer for you?" There was a keen glint in her eye, trying to guess his motives from the way he'd respond.

Axyen enters the classroom as the professor explained that the snacks were welcome at all times, along with the questions regarding Potions. It seemed like Axyen did not come in at the wrong time, which was a big relief to him. Professor Regan went on to walk over towards Axyen and looked at the tray. The professor guessed what drink was, which of course was apple juice. Axyen nodded, confirming that the drink he did offer was in fact apple juice. "T-thanks." Axyen replied swiftly and shortly as the professor complimented his taste in what he assumed to be the beverages, although it might've been the snacks, or maybe even both? Well, either way Axyen needed to remember to not laugh, so once again he bit his tongue. 'Whatever I do, I just cannot laugh. I cannot laugh.' It wasn't working for Axyen at the moment so he needed to try harder. 'Uh, you failed... ALL of your classes because you forgot to study since you were so busy practicing for... something.' It helped a little bit, it helped enough for Axyen to keep a straight face without giving any hint to what he was planning at least which was enough for him.
Axyen watched as the professor took a seat. 'Alright, so what do I do once I succeed with this?' Axyen asked himself. He wanted to rewind time, he felt as if he needed a redo, he didn't exactly think this entire plan out in its entirety, flaws were beginning to show, he didn't even know what to do once he completed this prank. As a matter of fact, if Axyen could back in time, he might've actually thought twice about doing this prank, maybe not even do it at all. But now it was too late, he was in this classroom and there truly was no turning back now. This was not the same as pranking some random student, having a small laugh, and moving on... actually, maybe it wasn't so different since the potion wasn't harmful, but still this was a professor. What was the difference between how they would react? Axyen didn't know and in all honesty, he was certain he didn't want to find out either. Although Axyen had been excited for this moment, there was a reason that this prank was delayed multiple times. The professor suddenly asked him, Axyen swiftly asked the first thing that came to mind. "O-oh um, do potions... go bad?" Axyen asked. "Kind of like if you leave milk or eggs alone for long enough, they become rotten." Axyen was surprised, he actually asked what he considered a good question in like a matter of seconds, or maybe he was wondering that a while ago and never asked? Well this should be interesting. (Yes, he really did just forget why he was here to begin with.)
Suddenly, he remembered why he was here. He needed to make this work, this prank. If he was already 'doomed' he may as well make the most out of it, he was certain Jacob was going to find this story beyond hilarious.Wisdom checkAxyen's wisdom: 9
