In the dusty, nasty, forgotten bathroom within the halls of Hogwarts, Sylvie was in the midst of an astronomical meltdown that would give even the Joker a run for his galleons. Her laughter bounced off the cobweb-covered walls, threatening to draw attention of passing prefects. Clutching her parchment with an ominous red 'Troll' scrawled across it in blood-red ink, Sylvie felt like she'd stumbled into her worst nightmare, her heart pounding in her chest. This was the worst grade she had ever gotten. Ever.

She traced the "T" on her paper with dramatic wand flourishes, as if she were casting a spell to summon passing grades or make her embarrassing test disappear. Perhaps mend her very wounded Gryffindor pride. What a terrible day.

As she sprawled out woefully on the crusty, worn-out tiles, Sylvie couldn't help but chuckle at the sheer absurdity of the situation. She had always been a student with an O average, a shining pupil, but right now, Divination, her once favorite elective, had VEXED HER beyond belief. And here she was, believing herself to be an ORACLE!!! Sylvie couldn't help but wonder if her beloved purple crystal ball had betrayed her- conspired against her along with the stars.

Plap-plap-plap was the sound of Thomas' shoes as he wandered into the Abandoned Toilets. A strange place to find comfort and solace, but the Ravenclaw could always count on the place being empty, save for the odd emo who made themselves known. It seemed today would be one of those days, where his solitude would be interrupted by the cries of some loser that he scarcely cared about. Alas. Irritated, the young man kicked open the stall door, expecting to find some miserable first-year sniveling over the fact that they didn't get a date to the ball, or something equally as frivolous. Somehow, the reality he discovered was worse, as he saw his friend lying on the unwashed tile floor, chortling away like some sort of hyena. How unbecoming.

Face contorted in clear antipathy, Tom retrieved his wand from his robe. He had seen many displays of this nature from his friend, it certainly wasn't the first time Sylvie had gone insane in his presence. In the past, he had met these things with compassion, as much as his shriveled heart could spare anywho... Now, however, Thomas had little time for this. He was a growing boy, nearly sixteen, and if his friend did not get her act together they both would be screwed. Sylvie, for being committed to some asylum, and Thomas, for being associated with this criminal insanity. This simply wouldn't do.

"Mimblewimble! God, Sylvie, shut the fuck up before you go utterly mental," he grumbled, bitterly. Seeing the parchment she was clutching, Thomas would make an effort to snatch it from the Gryffindor, or at least get a better look at it. "They're gonna send you to Mungo's again if anyone sees you doing this shit." Anyone but him, anyways. That implication was always there. Thomas and Sylvie were the best of friends, and no amount of insanity would ever change this.

The girl barely registered her dear friend Thomas' entrance into the room, wholly absorbed in outpouring her emotions over her resounding failures. The unexpected Mimblewimble curse had transformed her tongue into literal knots, rendering her entirely incapable of forming coherent speech. Her attempts at communication now only served to make her sound even more unhinged.

This marked the girl's umpteenth encounter with the Mimblewimble spell, a mischievous charm her bestie had playfully cast on her countless times before. As she struggled to communicate her thoughts through her tied tongue, her voice remained no less than... Well- loud, and her speech resembled nothing more than an incomprehensible "EH FAH MEGH ESH." She tried to summon the grounding techniques she had diligently learned at St. Mungo's for managing such moments. She failed violently to get ahold of herself. She needed to go back. But she wouldn't. "EHBJAS ASJDHFBSHF KJFDSF." The true meaning of her words were mystery.

After an absurdly long time, her freak out finally began to subside. She let out a deep sigh of relief. Exhausted and somewhat embarrassed, she resigned herself to lying limply on the grimy tiles beneath her. Sylvie extended the paper to Thomas... She was chill. I swear.

Arms crossed, he watched her attempts at communication with an almost bored expression, apparently uninterested in her pleas. Thomas impatiently awaited her freakout to subside, and as his friend slowly came to her senses the Ravenclaw eventually freed her of her mild curse. It was truly a good thing that he didn't have the same type of wand as she did, Tom's didn't bite and cause bleeding with a little dark magic. He enjoyed casting jinxes, hexes, and curses far too much to have to be worried about maiming people or leaving a trace."Finite Incantatem," came the simple incantation, one that he knew well from his second year. One thing was certain, all the time Tom spent dueling was not entirely wasteful, as he grew worryingly proficient in his casting due to the extra practice. A shame it did little else for the boy. He quit for a reason, after all.

Thomas read the parchment over as Sylvie let him have it, brows furrowing considerably in disappointment. Not in the grade Sylvie received, oh no, but in the subject that Sylvie had elected to take her OWL in. The Ravenclaw had never particularly understood the strange girl's fascination with Divination, believing it to be an awful lot of superstitious nonsense and little else. "Seriously, this is what you're all messed up about?" Evidently, Thomas was unimpressed. Doing poorly in classes, in general, was hardly cause for alarm or concern, but Divination of all subjects was particularly useless. He was sincerely aggravated that his friend cared so deeply about it. "Grades? Who cares, Sylvie. How you do on one exam isn't going to decide your whole life." Objectively false in the wizarding world, but he believed it nevertheless. Perhaps Thomas was projecting, he had neglected his studies considerably over the years. The once straight O student frequently pushed the envelope these days, seemingly searching for the bare minimum necessary to obtain the grade. Inevitably, E's and A's were becoming more common as a result.

"Besides, it's not like the professors know anything. It's all useless nonsense, what we learn."

As her tongue was finally untied, she let out a long groan, "You don't understand! This is my first bad grade since I was a FIRST YEAR!" She winced at the memory of that singular "P" in DADA, a scar on her otherwise perfect academic record that she would never forget. They would rue the day...

Gradually, she composed herself, sitting up and hugging her knees to her chest. "WHAT IF THEY TRY TO HOLD ME BACK? Or WORSE." Her voice trembled with anxiety, and she gasped, a hand instinctively covering her mouth in horror. "What if ELIAS FINDS OUT?" The mere thought sent shivers down her spine, and she felt like she might faint at any moment. Her crush on Elias had persisted since first year. Much to Thomas' likely dismay.

From a young age, the girl had been fueled by a desire for greatness. Her father had once told her of the importance of academic excellence. It was the first step on on her path. Next came greatness in her career, and in a conversation back home last summer, her mother had shared the most desirable outcome of all. What her hard work would one day lead up to... Taking over the wizarding world. But she wouldn't tell anyone that.

Interacting With: @Sylvie O'Niell, @Thomas Baines
Speaking of Eli, it wasn't all too long after Thomas that the second Ravenclaw fifth year made his way into the Abandoned Toilets. Perhaps chance had brought him to the area, or a tingling sensation that he was being talked about, hell perhaps he was even an Oracle like Sylvie believed herself to be. More likely than not, however, Elias had followed Thomas in an attempt to disturb his peaceful self loathing. Unfortunately for both him and Thomas, it seemed both of them would have their true purposes for this visit foiled. At least somewhat.

As he heard the unmistakable voice of Sylvie ringing through the toilets, he almost changed his mind. She alone would set to ruining Thomas' peace without a doubt... but then there would be no fun in it for him. Preparing himself for the pain he was about to endure at the hands of Sylvie, he made his way deeper into the toilets to see what exactly it was that had the Gryffindor spiraling t0day. Peeping his head around the door of the stall and Thomas, he had an inquisitive look on his face as he spoke the first words that came to his head - words that often came to his head around Sylvie - "What on gods earth are you doing?"
