What I had heard was right, the first thing you notice in Herbology are the plants. The green monsters were growing everywhere! We had walked down to the green houses as a class to study a strange plant that we would be using in potions class called 'Dittany'.
The teacher decided that she would put us in pairs to compare our notes near the end of the lessons but in the mean time she wanted to explore the greenhouse and write a short description of the different plants we see. She said that she wanted the description to include colour, name and behaviour of the plant. I thought she was asking for quite a lot when she said that but it wasn't too hard.
First, I went to see the Dittany plant. It was very difficult to make notes because so many of the students wanted to see the same plant as e. I only got a glance before I was pushed out of the way by others! I wasn't able to get much of a description but I did get some rough notes. This is what I got:

Dittany
Non-sentient
Dark green in colour
Used in potions/herbology class

As I said, I didn't get many notes but I decided I would come back later when there weren't so many people and in the mean time I wanted to make notes on the famous Mandrake plant, if I could find it...

Willow was jostled around by the many rushing students as she hurried to herbology class, hoping that it would be a nice and informative lesson. After finally making her way through the sea of first-years she slipped into the greenhouse and dropped into her seat, tucking her bag out of the way after fishing a quill and parchment from it.

After instructions from the professor were finished, she walked around the classroom and took as many notes on the plants as she could, hoping that her work had been good enough. The Ravenclaws had class with the Gryffindors, who, she could not help noticing, were much louder than her own house- though she admired their ability to be so boisterous without seeming tired at all. After her notes were almost complete, she shifted over to look at the mandrake plant, where there was already another boy standing there.

"Excuse me," She squeaked and buried her face in her parchment, hoping to avoid conversation. Willow was very shy, and as she scribbled down words in her small, neat handwriting, she felt her ears go as red as her hair thinking about the student next to her.

Just as she was finishing up her writing, it was time to pair up to compare notes. She turned to the boy beside her but didn't say anything, hugging her parchment to her chest.

At last I had found a flower bed with a Mandrake plant! I was suprised that it had a whole flower bed to itself though. I wondered why.
There weren't many students in this part of the classroom and I was glad it was a little quieter. The Griffindor students could be very daring at times and some were not afraid of the consequences of being loud and disterbing. I was very amused at how quiet the Ravenclaw students were compared to the Griffindors. They were, as I'm sure anyone could perseave, amazing rolemodels even if some of my classmates did ignore some of their polite gestures.
This was proven again when a shy girl moved next to me and made rapid notes on the Mandrake. I glanced at her and saw her blush.
'Hello my name is Alex. What's yours?' I asked as kindly as I could.
I never liked being in an awkward situation around people and constantly found myself starting conversations without fully realizing what I was doing.
I was astonished at how many notes the girl had made in the short time she had been near the Mandrake plant. I looked back down at my own parchment and frowned I need to get better at making notes duing class.

Willow tucked her shoulders in to make herself as small as possible so she wouldn't get in anyone's way and rolled up her parchment so it wouldn't get dirty. Thinking hopefully that she would be able to escape to the library after the lesson, she glanced again at the mandrake plant, which was quite ugly. She gave a small jump when the boy next to her introduced himself.

"I-I'm Willow," She said and gave a weak smile. He seemed nice enough, but unfortunately, Willow was painfully shy. The Ravenclaw girl looked around and saw that people were pairing up to compare notes. "Um, do you want to be partners?" She blurted and then her eyes widened. She didn't want to make him feel weird, so she added, "But i-if you don't that's fine." Normally, she was terrified of asking people to do something with her, but the last thing she wanted was to be stuck alone. That would be truly embarrassing.

She allowed her red hair to fall in from of her face as she waited for the boy to respond, and hopefully, she would get through this lesson without dying of shame. Really, social interaction with strangers was more trouble than it was worth.
