Lilac struggled to pull her potions book out of her bag; she was rather small for her age, finally she managed to sit the book on her desk, she wondered if there was a charm to make her books lighter. She opened her book to chapter one and read "A potion is a mixture of magical and mundane ingredients. When prepared in a certain way and with the use of a witch or wizard's magic, resulting in a magical reaction between the elements, this reaction enhances some of the properties of the ingredients; while some other features of the ingredients may be decreased or even neutralised."

Lilac knew today at least involved one potion; Cure for Boils; it seemed a reasonably simple, easy to follow instructions. Next; she started to collect her ingredients from her potions kit. She reread the instructions and began preparing the ingredients; which seemed to revolve around chop, dice and slice and on occasion peel the outer layer off. Once she had prepared her ingredients it was time to begin the potion making stage; carefully Lilac started this stage by following the instructions, as the potion brewed; Lilac became very familiar with clockwise and anticlockwise stirring, and wand tapping of the cauldron.

Lilac looked at her potion it was perfect, but that all changed with the next wand tap; it started bubbling. Oh, no thought Lilac that’s not in the instructions; The cauldron started to melt away as if the potion was acid, the potion pouring everywhere; melting her neighbouring student's cauldron as well, even the desk was beginning to melt as potion started to make it’s way down the sides of her table and onto the floor. Students nearby in panic started screaming and running for the door. Then Lilac heard another student shouting “Calm down, everyone.”
Students stopped in their tracks immediately. To everyone's confusion
the potion had vanished.

Lilac was feeling rather embrassed; and just as she made it back to her seat, she felt panicked blurting out “I’m really sorry to…” “Lilac,” Said another student in an attempt to calm her down, but she didn’t hear her “I didn’t mean to…” “Lilac,” Said the student again “I read the instructions really thoroughly…” “Lilac” “I don’t know what I…..” The student put her hand on Lilac’s arm gently, and Lilac realising stopped mid-sentence. “It’s ok these things happen in potions, nobody got burned” Lilac looked at the student's calm response she was shocked, after all the comotion she'd caused, including ruined potions. However, A couple of nearby students giggled, Lilac realise she’d made quite a scene. Lilac returned to her potion and cleaned up the remanding mess. What about the other students thought Lilac it wasn't just her potion that was ruined, they'd would have to start again too.

Cecila walked into the potion classroom excitedly. It was his Potion Class, although he was blind, Cecilia believed that he could still make a potion if he'd be carefully read the instruction on making the potion. Beside, he wanted to become a healer and learned that Potion was required to become one.
After the professor done with his lecture and told everyone to start making the potion, he sat down a chair and carefully picked his potion book which was bigger than others book because Braile took more space than normal alphabet letters, also, the pages was slightly thicker. As Cecilia set the book down on the table, he searched for the Cure for boils potion title and started picking the ingredients. “Okay, 6 snake fangs…. 4 horned slugs…” He whispered to himself to remember the ingredients and took it from the Potion kit carefully, also checked the Braille labels on the boxes and bags first to make sure that those were the right ingredients “Dried nettles… 2 porcupine quills… Ouch! The quill!” Cecilia yelped and frowned as he carefully picked the quill out of his hand, the wound wasn’t anything serious, but the quill couldn’t be used for the potion anymore.
Cecilia threw the quill into the bin and returned to his book, carefully bandaged his left hand to prepare the ingredients, more carefull this time. And time went by, he had done with the preparation and had almost done with his potion, nothing could distract Cecilia from doing that last step – Wave his wand again to finish the potion. That was until he heard a panic scream that successfully scared him, Cecilia still couldn’t understand what had happened and didn’t move an inch until a hand suddenlly grabbed his hand and pulled him out of his spot he stood, that person who grabbed him explained that a cauldron was melted in the potion making process, the potion was every where and destroyed his potion too. After a short moment of panicking, the professor repaired everything and Cecilia returned to his fixed and emptied cauldron near the teacher table, sorry for his destroyed potion. But in the same time, he heard the girl who seems to be the one who caused the problem. She was kinda scared and confused, Cecilia felt sorry for her as the giggles started to get louder when the girl walked back to her desk beside Cecilia’s. He told the peers whose kept whispering to keep quiet and asked the girl:

“Are you alright??”

Lilac sat down, still feeling embarrassed as she opened her textbook, she focused on the words in an attempt to drown out the giggles. However, she couldn't concentrate, the giggles felt more like laughter now. Lilac sunk low in her seat; she couldn't even bring herself to apologise to the boy next to her. She'd managed to utterly humiliate herself in front of her entire class; she'd considered leaving, but she didn't need to add to the gossip that seemed to be occurring around her; she'd done enough of that already.

Lilac heard more whispers this time she could make out the words. "Muggle-born." "No wonder the cauldron melted." Sinking even lower into her seat and feeling close to tears, she bit her lip, the only thing preventing her from crying; she reconsidering leaving; wouldn't be so bad she thought; I'd be saving what little dignity I have left. Perhaps I could sneak out. She'd made up her mind; closing her book as the whispers continued. "Oh look she closed her book; the muggle is leaving." But to Lilac's surprise, the boy next to her seemed to be attempting to hush them up. Lilac was secretly grateful, but she was still determined to leave.

But before she could; the boy next to her asked: "Are you alright?" Lilac stared at him blankly, before responding "Ummmm..... Errrrr....... I-I-I-I d-don't, w-well I-I-I" Lilac couldn't even finish the sentence as she buried her face into her arms sobbing wet tears all over her desk. Muttering "m-m-m-m-uggle-b-b-orn, w-w-wha-ts w-wrong w-with t-t-that?"

Cecilia listened to the girl stumpled all over her sentence, no words actually made any sense. But the tone of her voice had shown him that the girl was definitely not okay. Cecilia felt so sorry for the girl as he heard her shaking voice knowing that she was going to cry. She reminded him about himself, being taunted by the children at the orphanage because of his disability. But in this girl’s case, she wasn’t the one to blame, neither did her muggle born origin was. Cecilia was angried, because of how people could be so cold and cruel to other, only to make themselves feel satisfied and powerful. He turned to the taunting noise that started to rise again as the girl cried and said with a rough and loud voice he had learned from his pops – voice of a strict commander in military

“Can you all just stop already?? You’re not kids anymore, be a more grown up 11 years old, shut up and focus on your lesson instead!! I could even smell rotten meatloaf from here”
His voice raising and the later sentence were miracly affective as the voices stopped (With a panic yelp). Immidiately, he turned his attention back to the girl: “It is okay! Hey” He eased the girl and made his way to her desk without his cane and smiled as friendly and assuring as he could “It okay to be a muggle-born, okay! Now breath, it’s okay now, breath” Cecilia said as he patted her back lightly “Okay, Lilac right? Do you wanna leave Lilac, to the hospital wings or your dorm?” He asked kindly and used the name he heard when she was talking with the professor

Cam came running into class a bit late. When he got there, everyone was laughing and teasing someone. He furrowed his brow and walked to an empty seat in the back. He finally, caught sight of the person they were teasing and whispering about. It was a small girl who was crying. There was a boy next to her, trying to comfort her or something. Cam wondered what all the fuss was about. He was about to walk over to the girl when the Professor called him over to his desk.

"Yes, Professor?" Cam asked when he got to the Professor's desk.

"I'm concerned as to why you are late? Do you mind enlightening me?" the Professor asks.

"Oh, er, sorry about that. I was exploring the castle, then I lost track of time, and I got lost. Then Peeves came along and directed me to the "right" place which was actually on the other side of the castle from here. So I tried to come as fast as I could to make it on time, but I still ended up being late. I'm sorry," Cam explained.

"It's alright, but next time, please be on time or I shall have to gift you detention, okay?"

"Yes, Professor," Cam hurried back to his seat, then remembered the crying girl. He walked over. "Hey, are you okay?" he asked, concerned.

“Can you all just stop already?? You’re not kids anymore, be a more grown up 11 years old, shut up and focus on your lesson instead!! I could even smell rotten meatloaf from here” Lilac in her sobbing state jumped! The voice sounded like a military sergeant; Lilac with a tear stained face looked up, it was the boy next to her who had yelled. The rest of the class fell silent returning to their work instead of gossiping.

Lilac wiped away the tears from her face, glad the tormenting had stopped. Looking at the boy properly for the first time she saw he was blind! Lilac was surprised, didn't magic have a solution for blindness. Maybe he was muggle-born? But he seemed to know what he was doing with his potion, at least until Lilac melted it away. The boy spoke reassuringly "It okay to be a muggle-born, okay! Now breath, it's okay now, breath" patting her Lilac on her back. "Okay, Lilac right? Do you wanna leave Lilac, to the hospital wings or your dorm? Lilac looked up at him; she shook her head, "I think I'll stay" she said, before adding "Did you really refer to them as rotting meatloaf" Half-laughing, half-crying. “And I’ll stay here; besides class is almost finished” Lilac heard another person asking if she was ok, “Um… Yes I think I will be now, thanks for asking, would you like to sit with us, the rest of the class are a bunch of rotten meatloafs" Said Lilac. "Sorry I don't know your names? I'm Lilac, but I'm sure you already know that given my potion episode"

Aubrey wrote down carefully each note that appeared on the board as Professor waved her wand to begin class. She was surprised when there was no mention of Swooping Evil venom since that by itself has powerful memory loss properties.

“The Forgetfulness Potion, I remember researching that potion last week while I was looking for references to the cure for boils.” Aubrey whispered to herself as she laid each ingredient out in the order it was to be used in. Aubrey picked up the droplet vial with lethe water carefully as she took the dropper out and held it over her cauldron that was starting to boil over her heat source. She carefully pinched the droplet twice gently before placing it back on the vial and back into her potions kit wooden box. She looked at her watch and waited for the faster thinner arrow tick quickly twenty times; “thats 20 seconds” Aubrey said as she glanced back down at her notes and grabbed the next ingredient in line - two sprigs of Valerian. She added it to the mixture, stirring three times clockwise before taking her wand from her side and waving it over the cauldron. Placing her wand back at her side she looked down at the next step.

Brew for 45-60 minutes

‘I’ll leave it over the heat source for it to brew for 58 minutes, if anything i can always leave it for longer- i'd rather that than brew it for too long and have to start the potion all over again.’ Aubrey thought to herself, shuddering slightly at the thought of having to start all over again. She looked at her pocket watch (which was her father’s) and set it for 58 minutes. ‘Perfect, now i can study for Charms and try and at least get a little bit more caught up’.

She was lucky she had set for her pocket watch to go off because she was starting to feel a little spare minded and almost forgot that she was doing her potions homework. Aubrey returned to her open notes page for her Potions homework and glanced at the next step. She looked at the ingredients around her and finally found standard ingredient and added two measures of it into a stone small bowl, a mortar. Placing the standard ingredient aside Aubrey grabbed 4 mistletoe berries and added that to the mortar as well. She crushed both ingredients until they were a fine powdered mixture. Aubrey almost poured all the powder that was in her mortar into her cauldron before she stopped herself the words “two pinches” peering up at her from her notebook caught the side of her eye before she ruined her potion. Placing the mortar down and making sure none even sprinkled in- Aubrey then took two of the most delicate pinches of the medium fine powder and mixed them into her cauldron; stirring the cauldron anticlockwise five times. Finally it was time for the final touch to the magical mixture.

Aubrey waved her wand over her cauldron. Nothing happened. Her eyes turned perplexed as she looked over her pages in her text book and her own personal annotations.

“Ah, i forgot that they suggest saying a memory charm” Aubrey whispered to herself as she grinned. Closing her eyes she waved her wand over the cauldron once more- this time thinking the incantation to one of the first year memory charms.

Aubrey carefully peered into her cauldron, she seemed to have brewed it correctly since her caudlron wasn’t melting, there were no explosions and any other damage so far. The only real way to find out is for someone to try her potion, she looked around and giggled at the ideas that popped into her head.

‘Shall I admit my crush on Tyler, and then get him to drink this? Or should I tell that one unfair teacher off and then give him the potion?’ Aubrey thought to herself giggling at the idea. Obviously she was not going to go further with either idea - it was just too risky and embarrassing if she got the potion wrong. She placed all of the remains of her ingredients back into her wooden potion box kit. Then, she took her laddle and carefully filled ten vials with her potion, labeling each one ‘Forgetfulness Potion’ before placing a sample vial with her homework as she finally finished it.

“Now, if I can just remember who I am suppose to give this to” Aubrey thought to herself, putting her hair up in thought before snapping back into reality- the effects of just breathing in the potion fumes were finally wearing off.
