The Beginning of Something Great Closed

She was feeling a bit anxious, and it had very little to do with her emotions. Grace hurried out of Charms, down the stairs, and briskly walked down the corridor. She kept her eyes down as she walked but she didn't care about what other people thought—she really needed to use the bathroom! She felt like she'd been holding it in since the day she was born, and the girl's lavatory looked like a second heaven to her at the moment.

She practically sprinted the rest of the way and burst through the door, barely missing a few girls who had been exiting. Quickly saying apologizing, Grace hurried into a bathroom stall and sighed with relief. While answering the call of nature, she thought about things. Somehow her thoughts wandered over to the sorting ceremony and what house she'd gotten sorted into. Ravenclaw was known for their intelligence and creative, something she definitely could relate to. Grace felt that she was very creative and she tried to be smart as she could with her choices, but she was only a child.

Then she thought about people she'd met so far. She thought of Jade, who seemed like a pretty cool girl. She could imagine being her friend long term, they got along quite well. Grace was use to dealing with mean people, she had went to a muggle school in a bad area for a while and the kids there were tough. But Hogwarts was alright, as long as she didn't start or get into any drama.

Grace finished what she was doing and left the stall, going over to wash her hands. She was halfway finished when she heard the bathroom door open. Leaning over to see, she caught sight of a person—Jade Murphy, to be exact!

With a huge grin, Grace greeted her. “Hey! I just came from Charms, how about you?” She quickly dried her hands off and grabbed the books she'd left on a small table, which happened to be her books for Charms and the History of Magic.

Jade had just finished Transfiguration, one of her her favourite classes.  She was on her way to Defence Against The Dark arts when she heard the call of nature, thankfully she happened to be near the the fourth floor girls' lavatory so she popped inside. “Hey! I just came from Charms, how about you?” Sad a voice from around the corner, "Oh hey Grace!" Greeted Jade going around the corner "I just came from Transfiguration and am heading to Defence Against The Dark arts, if you'll excuse me a moment I came here for a reason....." Said Jade warmly Heading to a stall, she hoped to meet up with Grace once she was done, assuming Grace waited for her.  Jade was very excited to go to Defence Against The Dark arts, it was her favourite class. Jade had always been good at defending herself and now she had the chance to learn to defend herself magically! It was her dream class, learning about magical creatures and how to defend yourself.  Jade couldn't wait, she wondered if Grace had the same class as her, after all she hadn't actually had a Defence Against The Dark arts class yet. What if it wasn't as good as she thought it would be?  Jade exited her cubical and went to wash her hands.

Eyes wide, Grace let out a small gasp. She had totally forgotten about her Defense Against the Dark Arts book! Now that she thought about it, she did remember leaving it on her bedside table, and she scolded herself in her head for being so thoughtless. It was her next class as well, so she presumed that it would be just Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs, since that's how the class worked, two Houses per class.

“I'm actually heading there, too! I should really thank you for reminding me, I just remembered that I left one of my books back in my dorm, and if it weren't for you I wouldn't have come prepared!” Glancing down at her watch, Grace saw that she had a little time to fetch her things if she hurried.

Jade went to use the bathroom so she politely waited until she was finished. She hoped that she'd have a walking buddy, but wouldn't complain if Jade declined. When Jade was washing her hands, Grace asked, “Do you mind coming with me to get my things? I know you wouldn't be able to come into the Ravenclaw common room, but it would be fun having a friend to walk with.”

Grace recalled her late night reading and how it was probably why she'd left her book. Defense Against the Dark Arts was an interesting subject, and a useful one, so she wanted to look into it. She was already looking into the Patronus spell, borrowing an upperclassman's books, just so she could be more thorough.

It being their first time in the class, Grace figured she should ask what Jade thought about it. “Are you looking forward to DADA—that's what the older kids call it—?”

Jade looked over her shoulder to see Grace waiting for her,
“Do you mind coming with me to get my things? I know you wouldn't be able to come into the Ravenclaw common room, but it would be fun having a friend to walk with.”  Asked Grace
"I would love to, just let me dry my hands then we can get going" Jade said as she went over to dry her hands. "There, let's get going" Jade said walking over to Grace and picking up her leather satchel from the bench.
"Are you looking forward to DADA—that's what the older kids call it—?” asked Grace
"Yea, I'm really looking forward to it too, I love learning how to defend myself, and learning about magical creatures so I think I'm going to love it" Jade answered

Walking out of the lavatory Jade looked out the window to her left, it was beautiful out side, it was just before noon so there was a shadow of the castle on the ground making it a lovely blue.  Jade could see the lake glistening in the sunlight at the edge of the castles shadow, it was a beautiful scene. Jade wondered what it would be like below the waters surface, she had already read several books on it.  Apparently there were Mermaids and a Giant squid and other such creatures.

"The grounds are beautiful at this time, aren't they?" Jade stated more than asked, "I read a book on it and apparently there are Mermaids and a Giant squid in it. I wonder what the merc-city, or at least thats what I think its called, I wonder what it looks like, what its made of." she looked over at Grace who was also looking out the window.
