Skipping Stones and Missing Home
Blue eyes watched the water as it edged onto the shore. The glare of the sun on the water made her have to squint, but the sight was beautiful nonetheless. It also reminded her of home; and how her, Katya, and Arthur would spend the long, summer days playing pretend or exploring around the pond. Her older siblings may have been grown, but they still loved to spend time with their little sister. It was at times like this she wondered what they were up to, and how they were doing. In fact, she wondered how everyone was doing.
Looking down, she spotted a small, flat stone that would be perfect for skipping stones. She grasped the stone, feeling the cold and smooth texture in her palm. She stood up, winding her arm back, and throwing the stone like her brother had shown her. One. Two. Three. Four. The stone entered the water on the fifth skip, and Aurie let out a sigh.
Spotting another rock, the Gryffindor repeated her actions. She ached to go home once more; to see everyone, to laugh, to smile... she truly missed them. She missed the days when her father would turn on music and everyone would get together and dance, and joke around. Another rock skidded across the lake, this time six times.
The tell-tale crunch of shoes on grass gave away the position of another student, or perhaps even a teacher or a prefect. Though she really didn't care. A fourth rock went flying. Without turning around, she asked them, "Don't you ever just... wish you could go home? Hogwarts is great and all, but I miss my family. I want to see them."

Skipping Stones and Missing Home
River was walking across the grounds on her way to her favourite tree. The big one near the lake, it’s where she would sit and read her books when she had nothing else to occupy her mind with, which was often, since she had not gotten to know a lot of people.
The weather today is wonderful, River thought to herself, took a deep breath, and felt the fresh air fill her lungs. She had her favourite book in hand, one that she had already read countless times, but simply could not grow tired of. The book had been a gift from Rivers mother on her 6th birthday. River had always loved reading, and spent most of her time with her nose in a book.
When she was nearing the great, blue lake, she spotted a girl, not to far away. She was standing there, alone, lost in thought it seemed. I wonder if she’s okay?. River was never the type of person to approach someone, she had always been quite shy and a bit awkward at times, but she wanted to know if the student by the lake was doing okay.
River pressed the blue covered book close to her chest, took a deep breath and headed towards the girl.
River was nearing the girl, when she asked.
"Don't you ever just... wish you could go home? Hogwarts is great and all, but I miss my family. I want to see them."
River stopped in her tracks, taken aback by the girl’s question. She had not expected the girl to agnowlege her approaching. She looked at the girl for a minute and mumbled "uhm, well" She nervously pushed her red qurly hair out of her face. "Well, I think it’s quite nice here at hogwarts to be honest. Home never really felt like the right place for me. I don’t really have much of a family to miss"
River looked down and started fidgeting. She had never really mentioned anything about her family to anyone. It seemed too personal after the dissapearence of her mother and twin brother.
