The CROWN: Inauguration

To all those with big dreams, and all those who desire aid, no matter the project, you are cordially invited to the inaugural meeting of the Hogwarts Club for the Resolution Of Wants and Needs; the CROWN, for short. I am Quinn McGriffin, and upon arriving at Hogwarts I quickly realized the great potential of everyone I met. To help see that potential fulfilled, I have decided to found a club for the benefit of my fellow students. I have no doubt that our founding members will become a new generation of legendary Hogwarts graduates, perhaps even on the level of the class of 1998!

The purpose of the CROWN is to pool the many individual talents of Hogwarts' students, and organize the use of those talents to further the goals, ambitions and dreams of all of the club's members. Do you wish to become a mighty magical fighter? A champion Quidditch star? What about becoming a professor at this very school? Or solving an ancient mystery? No project is outside the purview of the CROWN, and once the member base is secure, detailed plans will be put in place to advance all of our goals, whatever they may be. All members will share the load and the benefits of the CROWN's work, as equal partners in excellence. It is my deepest wish that this club becomes the premier organization for personal achievement within our fine school, and I will fight tooth and nail to help every one of you! Students of all Houses are welcome, as are Professors, Staff, Residents and House Elves.

The inaugural meeting will be held in the Hogwarts Ballroom at 3 o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 8th of September. RSVP by writing your name, year and House in the spaces provided below, or by letter.

All letters, questions, concerns and comments may be directed to Quinn P. McGriffin of First Year Slytherin.

Having edited her invitation somewhat for consumption outside of her own House, Quinn got up very early to post the flyer just before breakfast, when almost everyone in the castle would come through the Entrance Hall and at least glance at the Bulletin Board. She was emboldened by the RSVPs from Slytherin alone, but this was the real test. Would anyone else want to join? Would the CROWN end up just one more in a long list of Slytherin-exclusive social clubs? Surely not. Even if the flyer didn't bring anyone in, there were other recruiting methods. She would have her integrated club, one way or another.

Sitting on a low stone bench in the Entrance Hall, not far from the Bulletin Board, Quinn watched for RSVPs like a hawk, barely obscured behind the cover of "Hogwarts, A History". This was much more important than eating breakfast.

James walked down from the tall tower that held the Ravenclaw common room. James experienced a slight sense of relief seeing the hallways almost completely empty. He straightened his dark blue tie and raced down the long corridors to the great hall. While swiftly jogging through the halls, a piece of parchment stuck up out of his bag. He quickly looked around, making sure no one saw him. With his right hand, he slightly pushed it back into the bag, and continued walking.

Laid before him was the great hall- a large, magnificent room filled with decorations and items one couldn’t even dream of. Like always, he went to the bulletin board within the great hall. He stared at it for a while, not taking an interest in most of things on the board. He then saw a poster for a group – The CROWN. James, who found the idea of joining a club quite interesting, read through the flyer. The idea itself caught his attention, but then, he thought of something. He looked down at the piece of parchment in his bag, and gave a slight smile, and had an idea. On the bottom of the poster, he put his name, house, and year, just like the poster had requested in order to join.

“James Henderson, Ravenclaw, First Year.” Was what he put on the poster to be exact. He walked to one of the tables and placed his bag bellow it, and pulled one of the plates closer to him and started to eat. He pulled out the parchment once more, this time opening it, revealing itself to be a map of the forbidden forest. A few names of creatures were put onto it, but not many. Like he always did at this time, he looked around to see if anyone was watching him. The map itself would be enough to get him expelled, a fate James did not want to suffer. He looked up at the map once more, looking to see if there were any more names written on the flyer.

Breakfast was the most important meal of the day but it would have to wait because Dymphna had spotted a brand new club posted on the bulletin board. She had been checking it daily to see if there were any clubs outside of the ones that she had already joined -- book, astronomy, dueling -- and CROWN seemed right up her alley. As she had only been doing a decent job in Charms class so far, her goals were very academic based, the main focus being receiving a mark better than an A (Acceptable). Outstanding was preferable but she wanted to see any kind of progress in the coming weeks.

With her neatest handwriting, Dymphna carefully signed as an RSVP to the Inauguration on Saturday.

Who wouldn't want to be seen as a legendary like the various students who attended in '98? Whatever she ended up doing it life, she wanted it to be worthwhile. It was less about the fame and more about making a difference and helping others. Admiring her name on the sign up sheet, Dymphna nodded and headed off towards the Ravenclaw table for a spot of breakfast. She hadn't even spotted the girl watching from afar, observing those who had decided to join.

Lisabetta was out exploring the Hogwarts Castle. It was quite large and full of so many amazing hidden rooms and other secret things that Lisabetta had encountered. She was sure that she had barely even scartched the surface of what this great school held in her short amount of time here, but she was going to do everything she could to try to find everything before she graduated.

She was walking through the Great Hall when the bulletin board caught her eye. It couldn't hurt to see if there were any activities going on that she might be interested in. She scanned over the board quickly, not really seeing anything that jumped out at her. She was just about to walk away and continue her exploring when she found one that seemed that a good fit.

The CROWN, a group for anyone that was looking to assist the members in their own personal achievements. Maybe it would help Lisabetta to discover what she really wanted to do with her life. It was a little funny that this group was called The CROWN since that was exactly what was waiting for her once she graduated from Hogwarts. Lisabetta just didn't know if that was exactly what she wanted in life. Maybe The CROWN could help her discover something that would bring her life joy other than the crown she was destined for.

She took out a quill and ink from her bag, she always was prepared to take notes on something, or mark an interesting room she found in the castle. She signed her name on the poster:

Lisabetta Medici, First Year, Gryffindor

Sophie was being her normal curious self. She was walking around towards the Great Hall, looking for her friend. Her eyes always wondered around wherever she was going, and noticing the bulletin board had a flyer on it, and she walked away from the board, thinking it was something she wouldn't find useful, that was of course until her curiosity got the better of her, and she began to read.

The CROWN group gleamed her interest. It was a group for anyone who was looking to assist its members in their own personal life. Immediately going back to Quidditch, she reread the paper many times.
This could help her with Quidditch, or in becoming an Auror, and getting help is exactly what she needed! She reread the paper one last time, before deciding that what she was about to do, was the correct thing, and that it was what she needed to make her life just the way she wanted, even if it meant having to be social, she needed the skills anyway! She rummaged through her bag for a quill and a bottle of ink. She dipped the fresh quill in the ink and quickly scribbled on the Sheet of paper.

Sophie Murphy, First Year, Gryffindor.

She hastily shoved her Quill and her capped ink bottle into her bag and continued on towards the Great Hall, she was excited for CROWN and was going to tell everyone who would listen, and advise them to do the same, possibly?

Entering the Great Hall, Cameron noticed a sign posted on the notice board about The Crown. He didn't read through the note but rather scanned through it. "Interesting," said Cameron as he wrote down his name and house under the following students signature.
Cameron Harper, Gryffindor
He had slight hopes, maybe this would give him the confidence he needed. Sighing at the thought he didn't want to ponder on it any longer. Cameron looked around and heard the students talking about the crown. He wanted to voice his opinions as well but he knew he wasn't popular amongst his peers. Walking away from the list he wondered what it would be like if he had won. What would his parents say?, School teachers?, or his classmates? He wasn't sure. He walked away from the crowded students and into the Entrance Hall with the desire to go outside and get some fresh air. That would help clear his head and keep him sharp on his toes during stressful situations like this one. Students that passed him said, "Hello", but he didn't return the favor. Alone in his own little world he hoped to find others who were just like him or shared the same interests.
