Sink or Swim?
As Flynn stepped into the great hall he was pleased to find a fairly large group of students already occupying the space, all of whom faced the same conundrum that Flynn had, swimming wasn't exactly their strong suit, but the events of the Fall ball had spurred Flynn into at least learning how to confidently swim to shore should the situation ever call for it. For seemingly the first time since he'd stepped foot into the grand halls of Hogwarts Flynn felt a slight tinge of nervousness before starting an activity, maybe it was the events of the fall ball playing in his head, or the unknown territory that was the deep water, however, he was calmed by the presence of a ever present figure in Ms Hollins, he wondered where her skills lay in this activity, though, if its anything like the activities they've already discussed or taken part in she would be a near natural at it.
As Flynn approached the waters edge he heard murmurs and even Harmony herself exclaiming that the pool was in fact a giant... food dish? interesting, the novelty of the pools simple origins couldn't subside the growing uneasy feeling in his stomach, this forced the otherwise talkative Flynn into a involuntary mute state as he started to think back to the creatures that lurked beneath the lakes edge, the water here was a much clearer and inviting blue compared to the dark and looming lake water but the feeling still stayed in his mind, maybe he should've played in the water more prior to coming to Hogwarts but to little Flynn he already had so many adventures to explore on land he never got the chance to explore the vastness of the lakes that surrounded his house, nevertheless, here he was now, standing over the pool ready to learn to do more then stay afloat in the water.
Up to this point Flynn had been merely a silent observer to those around him not contributing to any conversation around him, not even to Harmony who he'd been around since he arrived at the great hall, yikes maybe I should actually talk like a normal human, he thought to himself, as if reading his mind Harmony drops the question he'd been waiting for this whole time just three simple words.
"can you swim?" this simple question was followed by a simple comment about her previous experiences with swimming, just as Flynn had thought Harmony was actually a competent swimmer, how lovely for him.
As he slowly comes to accept his position as a inept swimmer he contemplates the choices of telling the truth or a harmless white lie, he extended his thinking time by very slowly taking his shirt off to give him more time to think, his prolonged undressing of his shirt made him conclude to just tell the truth, as he placed his shirt in his bag next to a pair of black shorts and a towel he had to "borrow" from the boys dorm he faced his compatriot to deliver the embarrassing blow.
"No... I can't say I've had much experience in the water but at the very least it sounds like I've got a very capable swimmer next to me should I require assistance in not drowning" he realised to most being saved from drowning by a person who's a lot shorter and lighter then you might be a bit demoralising but to Flynn he was searching for any lifelines he could take if the needs arise.
As Flynn looked across the pool he sighed internally and prayed that his athletic abilities from other sports would cross over well into some resemblance of swimming, turning to his only sign of hope he gives a slightly grin hoping to mask his nervousness "ladies first?"

Sink or Swim?
It was weekend on December 10. It was in Winter. Everywhere was cold and the only thing you wanted to do was warm yourself. Zach was also lying on his bed with his comfy blanket covering the boy like a sushi roll. He didn't have anything to do except go to the Great Hall to attend swimming lessons. Yes, swimming lesson in Hogwarts. It was such a muggle activity but this skill was very useful. Let's look back in Fall Ball, when many students drowned in the lake including Zach himself. He didn't have the ability to swim and had to be grabbed by some unknown creature. Luckily it wasn't long enough for him to get back to the surface. Thank Raizel's skill in spell casting. But swimming lesson in Winter? He didn't know.
The boy was still in his blanket, too lazy to get out from his comfy zone and zoning out. What should I wear? Isn't it cold to swim in Winter? What should I bring there? And some more thought that kept bugging his brain until he saw the clock in the Steppe Eagle Dormitory. "Oh! I'm going to be late!" He exclaimed. The boy jumped from his bed and opened his trunk, looking for something that might be necessary to bring there. Towel, another pair of clothes, wand? Should he bring his wand? The boy thought for some seconds before he decided to bring his mayhaw wood and phoenix feather wand. What was a wizard without his wand? The boy kept it under his clothes and hoped it wouldn't be broken or something. The boy also took off his glasses and put it on his trunk since it wouldn't be useful underwater. If he couldn't see the instruction from the instructor, he could see it from Raizel or Alyssea.
He went down from the West Tower and walked to the Great Hall. It was a long journey to get there. But it was better than being bored alone in his dorm. The outside of the common room was very cold. Zach could feel his hand started to stiffen. Is it a great idea to swim? Zach once again wondered. Then the boy rubbed his hands and hummed on his way to the Great Hall, hoping he wouldn't feel more cold. Or at least, he could ignore it for some moments until he arrived to his destination. Some students also seemed to go to there, or perhaps that was what Zach assumed.
He arrived at the Great Hall. Luckily, he wasn't late yet. The boy walked to the familiar faces, Alyssea and Raizel, and stood there silently. The instructors were Nurse Dusana Sabo, the new nurse and Xailah Alptraum, a senior student that Zach saw in Fall Games Broom Racing. Nurse Sabo opened the lesson with greetings and introductions until she stopped when Professor Regan entered the room. Then she continued and said that the students had to prove themselves before swimming. How? The question crossed his mind. He looked at Raizel and Alyssea to see if they were also confused like him.
Then he heard Alyssea asked them −Raizel and Zach− if they could swim. Zach was surprised that Raizlel said she couldn't swim. All he knew was the Gryffindor could get on the boat and saved him with her spell. Just after Raizel answered the Hufflepuff, Zach shook his head. "I don't" He showed his silly grin at both girls. Well, it was his problem now. He thought Nurse Sabo would immediately teach them all how to swim. He looked at Alyssea, hoping she could somewhat help them.Interacting with @Raizel Voltrouz; @Alyssea Brown

Alyssea got into the makeshift pool and dipped herself deep enough that her shoulders and below were submerged. Not that it was a very far dip since she wasn't that tall. The water wasn't freezing but she shivered when she stood up straighter, the chilly winter air biting at her exposed arms and skin.december 10th 2023; interacting with @Raizel Voltrouz and @Zach Zaphiere
She clenched her teeth but managed a response to their poor replies to her question. "Oh, how did you guys manage to get out of the lake at the ball?" Had Alyssea not been dragged so far down, she could've made it to the boat and rowed towards the shore. But nope, she went pretty far down and it took a bit of kicking to reach to surface.
All she had to do to prove she could swim to the teachers and prefect was swim from one end of the pool to another. Not hard, really. Alyssea had done it before in Muggle school. She held onto the edge, placing her feet against the walls and pushing herself off to give herself a boost. It had been a while since she'd done that.
For a brief moment, she remembered the icy lake and the panic in her veins as she desperately kicked. She scrambled to her feet and gasped for air, taking quick and shallow breaths to regain her composure. These guys didn't know how to swim so she had to be responsible and not let her fears take her. She dove back into the water and continued.
Alyssea meticulously moved her arms to slice through the water and push herself closer to the other side. Of course, she wasn't the strongest swimmer and stopped half-way, standing right at the center of the pool. Once she caught her breath and energy, she started again. It was a bit difficult without her initial boost, but she made it to the other side eventually. She repeated the motions to make it back to Raizel and Zach, kicking and kicking, stopping midway through her journey before swimming again. Any thoughts of the night at the lake were quickly squashed.
It was awkward regaining her footing but she made the lap. Alyssea wiped away the water from her face and smiled. "Come on! The water is pretty nice," she said behind clenched teeth.

“Oh,” Harmony intelligently responded, now feeling worried as to what would happen if someone did decide to recreate the Fall Ball in the food dish swimming pool. “I haven't gone swimming in such a long time though. Do you want a life jacket? Those are fun, and it would probably help.” At her mention of life jackets, Harmony headed across the room to the side of the pool, inspecting the supply the professors had at the ready. “The professors seem like they know what they're doing; they'd probably help a lot more if you were to, you know,” she made a bubbling sound with her tongue and flapped her hands limply by her head to represent unenthusiastic drowning.10 December 2023
Flynn gestured for her to enter the water first, which was understandable, seeing his apprehension towards swimming. Harmony dialed up her enthusiasm just a bit in the hope that it would encourage her friend, and ascended the stairs to the pool's edge before deciding to toss herself in to allow for the most efficient temperature acclimatization. Her pencil-dive-cannonball-flop sent her to the bottom of the pool, where she set her feet on the ground and gave a powerful push to shoot back to the surface and grip the side of the food dish, ready for Flynn's entrance.
“You got this!” She exclaimed, reaching for a stray pool noodle and patting the pool wall. “Come to the side and I can help you.” There were so many students for the professors and prefect to keep track of, it probably would be easier if Harmony gave teaching a go herself. It did mean there would be less time for mermaids and sitting at the bottom of the pool, but that was okay, this was plenty of fun already.
Upon Flynn's entrance to the pool, Harmony would give him the pool noodle and encourage him to put it under his arms so that it stuck out perpendicular from his body like a weird set of tiny, cylindrical wings. She would then instruct him to hold on to the noodle and kick off from the wall to make his way to the other side of the pool by kicking, a simple method to begin learning to navigate the water. If he successfully took off on his quest to the other side of the pool, she would stay close by, tiptoeing and gently jumping in the water to keep her head above it.

❂《 ⌜ December 10, 2023 ▎ --:-- ⌟▛▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔How indeed did they manage to get out of the lake? For Raizel, it was… "Luck?" She shrugged with a grin on her face. She's not lying though, it was luck on her side. All she was thinking that time was to get back to the surface and started kicking in the water. She took hold of the closest thing to her to cling on and luckily it was their boat. Funny that now she is learning that Zach couldn't swim either. Good thing that she helped him with that levitation spell to get him back up. What's even funnier is that the boat of them willingly got on that boat to attempt rescues when they themselves could've ended up as the victims.
Now then, how to do this, she thought as she stared down the pool, lowering down to give the water a touch. "Err, what am I supposed to be doing again?" She uttered before watching Alyssea go. She really can swim. It was only a brief moment that she saw her that night of the fall ball and heck, she was a fast swimmer. Seeing her do it up close though is remarkable. She watched her and all the motions she did but none was registering. She just needs to try it out then. She is more of a practical learner anyway. The water looks so cold though, making her hesitate to jump in.
Hopefully she won't freeze to death. She jumped into the water, feeling the cold creeping up but not as cold as she thought it would be which she is thankful for. She held onto the edge of the makeshift pool, slightly terrified of trying to get to the middle part. "I'm not gonna drown right?" She asked, nervous. She tried anyway, trying to mimic what Alyssea had shown them but stopping just a couple of distance away from the starting point. It was really a struggle for a first timer like her. The accidental swimming she did back in the lake doesn't count. But then again, they aren't going to let them leave unless they reach the end and back so she'll have to do better than that first pathetic attempt. "This is harder than I thought. How did you manage this?" She asked Alyssea as she went back to the starting point, wanting to try again by starting there once more.

open to interactions. December 10th, 2023In Eastbourne, kids learn to swim before they learn to walk. Most of them, at least. There’s always a select few who start hiking up the chalk cliffs before taking to flat roads or the soft swells of the Grand Parade, but for Pyxis, all of his earliest memories involved the beach. He couldn’t remember exactly what happened on his first ever trip there, but he assumed his father took him by one leg and tossed him into the water so he could learn to fend for himself (with appropriate parental supervision, of course!). However, the boy could barely recall his parents accompanying him to the beach after he was old enough to walk. They had stopped caring to experience Pyxis’ firsts with him by then.
When another opportunity to gain house points revealed itself, he was quite interested. Taking a dip sounded much more palatable than pulling up rotten weeds. The only thing keeping him hesitant was the blistering cold that settled on the castle grounds and the dangers lurking beneath the depths of the Great Lake. Pyxis had assumed the body of water was where the event would take place and he did not wish to expose himself to the elements or the monsters that terrorized some students during the Fall Ball. He was quite relieved to find that the students were instructed to meet in the Great Hall instead, but he wasn’t sure how that would work. Would they be practicing swimming form in lieu of trusting the murky lake? No. The new school nurse seemed to have some handy tricks up her sleeve and Pyxis wondered if using magic for his convenience would come that easily to him one day.
In truth, he very much missed taking a dip in the ocean. Of course, he would never find himself in the Eastbourne waters during the winter months, but even through the summer gone by, Pyxis spent his time away from the coastline more often than not. Therefore, the boy was ecstatic to hear about the details of the event. Sure, he could have just waded in the shallows of the lake, but he was too scared and too averse to cold temperatures. He had no need for swimming lessons, but just the thought of relaxing in some water for leisure propelled him to the Great Hall that day.
Unfortunately, a bit of horror overtook Pyxis as he entered the large room. Despite spending all his life in muggle culture, he didn’t recognize the enlarged casserole dish. Instead, he took notice of the lack of any kind of filtering system. The indoor pool at his parents’ hotel stunk of chlorine and he was always told that it kept the water clean. There was no such smell today. With another sniff, Pyxis could tell that it was fresh water too and so it would be devoid of any bacteria-slaying ocean salt. Still, he watched as the other students hopped in without care and supposed that turning his nose down for one day of fun was worth it. And maybe there’s some water-cleaning spell or antifungal potion that the professors can provide us with.
By some stroke of luck, he had packed a pair of waterproof shorts in his trunk and they were perfect for swimming. He was too shy to go topless though, so he threw on one of his basic tees that he frequently wore outside of school hours. Pyxis watched as several students elected to use pool noodles and life jackets, and while he knew he didn’t need any help, he accepted a noodle for caution. Slipping into the chilly water was easy and he paddled around with the noodle for a few minutes before discarding it and swimming around on his own.
Eager to be done with the exercise so he could slack off, Pyxis swam down the length of the pool and back with relative comfort. He wasn’t as graceful as an athlete and didn’t have the technique that swimmers who took lessons did, but he got the job done effortlessly and in a decent amount of time too. And he knew he only had his nanny to thank since she was the one accompanying him on beach days for the past few years. Following his successful completion of the exercise, Pyxis treaded the water until his legs were tired. Then he hauled himself onto the edge of the pool, grumbled at how uncomfortable it was to sit on, and absent-mindedly kicked his legs in the water while watching other students tackle the feat.760/600

Sink or Swim?
The first thing Leaf wanted to do when they saw the pool was run- run as fast as possible, as far as possible, and never come back to the nightmare that was presented in front of them. Of all the activities that could have been held? And the one that they chose was swimming.
This just so happened to be one of Leaf's greatest fears (second only to a fear of helplessness), and so they'd never really learnt how to swim. No, scratch that. They'd never swam in their whole entire life. From what their father had told them, their mother had tried to teach them how to, but they'd failed miserably.
As other students either leapt in without hesitation or tentatively stepped in, Leaf would not enter. What if I drown? Their mind raced around trying to process the fears, thoughts, and facts- trying to reassure them that they would not drown but also screaming that it was inevitable.
Soon barely anyone else remained by the poolside. Leaf was constantly fighting a battle, but from how things were going it appeared that their reason was going to lose the fight. Come on, Leaf, you can do this. But as they took a few steps towards the side, they immediately paced backwards as far away as they could so that they were standing up against the wall and shivering with nerves.
It wasn't long before the nurse was beside Leaf and trying to help them. They were handed a weird float device thingy that wrapped under their arms and was a little uncomfortable. It reminded them of the noodles that were in the public swimming pool back home, which now Leaf realised they had not visited in years and years.
Despite Leaf's refusal to enter the water, the nurse began to gently push them over and encourage them to give it a shot- and soon they knew that she would not stop until Leaf got in the damn pool and learnt how to swim, and that nothing Leaf did or said could change that.
So, hesitantly, they stepped into the pool and was met with a strange sensation as they stood there in the shallow water at the edge. They were vaguely aware that the nurse was still somewhere nearby, watching, but Leaf was too scared to turn around. The float device suddenly felt a lot lighter when they were in the water- and they now knew why it was often used to help new swimmers.
Around the pool, others were swimming across and showing that they could indeed swim, and some milled in the water with friends, relaxing. But Leaf wasn't going to be in this thing for long. They just needed to very quickly learn how to swim...
It wouldn't be hard, right?
However as they got deeper and their legs below became blurrier and the edge was further and further away, a wave of sickness came over them and suddenly the distance seemed much longer than before and they felt like throwing up. Just one length. That was all, and then they could leave this place and hopefully never have to swim again.
But they couldn't find the strength to take that first stroke and instead was just there, not moving and watching the water shift as they were frozen in place.
With a burst of effort, they continued 'swimming' (really just flapping their arms and legs in the water) into the pool, so they were a good depth in when their arms suddenly began to tire and they tried to put their feet down to take a rest but there was no bottom to the pool that they could reach.
And they still felt sick. No, they couldn't swim back- it was too far for them. So they called out, "Help!", in hope that someone would hear and come to help them back to the poolside. Coming out into the water was a mistake.

Finnegan entered the Great Hall with purpose in his step. It wasn't often that he could profess to be the top of his class in a subject, but today had to be one off the rare exceptions, he was sure of it.
News of the planned activity by the new school nurse had been making the rounds for a while and he had noticed a rather alarming number of his peers gossiping and whispering about being unable to swim. That probably was the nurse's point, to take stock of who could and couldn't stay afloat. Still, he had been rather surprised at the sheer number of students who apparently could barely be trusted to survive taking a shower. He'd gotten all his certificates ages ago without ever thinking much of any of them, but it really seemed he was the exception amid the gaggle of anxious first-timers.
Only at Hogwarts could a pan enlarged to enormous proportions seem like an entirely normal and sane thing for someone to make a swimming pool out of. Or maybe the nurse has intended to make a charming first impression. We'll, it was certainly impressive and brought a faint smile to his face while he searched for a secluded spot near edge of the hall to change into his swimwear. In passing he overheard another student saying something about hoping the pan had been cleaned properly and silently agreed.
He had made a point of arriving early, not to avoid any queueing or prying eyes but rather because he wished to show the school nurse and her assistant that he was a good swimmer, someone capable of being a lifeguard. There wasn't much glory in acting as an unofficial extension of the nurse's eyes and ears in the water, but what else was the point of having a youth lifeguard certificate framed on his bedroom wall back at home? Besides, it felt nice to be of some use for once, he always needed others to help him with his assignments, now he could finally be of some service to his peers. First though, he had to demonstrate that he could actually swim.
A shiver passed through his slim frame as stepped up to one of the tiny ladders that had been placed next to the pool. Without hesitation, he climbed up and dropped into the water. For a second or two, the world went muffled, then he emerged again above the water line, rubbing the water that dripped from his matted hair or off his eyes. To his surprise, the water wasn't as cold as he'd expected. In fact, it was rather nice, certainly preferable to being outside of the pool on this chilly Sunday morning.
Finnegan began to swim with practiced strokes. He hadn't realized how much he had missed the simple joy of swimming, the calming embrace of the water, the buzz and excited chatter of others splashing about alongside him. He'd heard a story of two about students going swimming in the lake, but he had also heard that it was forbidden to do so. Honestly, it was the rumors of a giant squid and other foul creatures that had kept him from ever trying. Besides, summer was but a distant memory now and it was cold enough running around in swimwear inside of the great hall, never mind trying to keep warm outside. Maybe next spring or summer though, he had to admit the idea was strangely tantalizing.
After a while, Finnegan reached the edge of the pool with a satisfied smile on his face. With a final, purposeful stroke, he hoisted himself out of the water, and waved a skinny arm at @Xailah Alptraum whose gaunt face he recognized from his latest visit to the hospital wing. Really it wasn't too odd how ochten the school nurse seemed to change considering how frequently he had managed to land himself into a hospital bed. Quite possibly the assistant nurses, like Xailah and others, had stayed on longer than any head nurse had ever managed. For a change he had no intention of going on the hospital wing - no matter how nice Xailah was - though he couldn't help but reckon that at least one person would be going there today.
Leaving a trail of water in his wake, he headed to a quiet corner of the Great Hall, where he pulled a fluffy towel from his bag and began drying himself off. Once he'd warmed back up a little, he flung the towel over his shoulder and rummaged through his small duffle bag. For the third time that day he counted the number of fluorescent armbands and plastic whistles he had brought. He wasn't sure if anyone would be showing up because of the little recruitment notes he had posted around the castle, calling for experienced swimmers. Thinking it best to seem prepared, he secured one of the armbands around his biceps and looped a whistle around his neck. Now all he had to do was wait as a see who'd show up at the noted time...

𝓗ad Bex known before arriving at Hogwarts that the majority of her peers seemed to consider swimming to be a muggle activity, perhaps she'd have had a bit more leverage in convincing her mother that really, she was a perfect fit for muggle school, the risk of accidental magical catastrophes notwithstanding. She genuinely could not understand how her classmates were just out there, living their day to day lives, without knowing what to do if they tripped and fell in the bath, or, god forbid, the giant Hogwarts lake. It was just straight up embarrassing for them.
Trips to the Bramley Baths had been a staple of her childhood, with her mother taking Bex there for swim lessons the minute the girl was old enough to take them. She had gone on hiking trips with her mother since she could walk, and likely before she could walk, even, as she'd seen some photos of her mum carrying her out and about in a baby sling. As there was absolutely no way Meredith was going to let her only daughter traipse through the countryside without having taken the necessary safety lessons, Bex could confidently and competently start a fire, locate and assemble adequate shelter, perform some very remedial first aid, and, of course, swim quite proficiently.
Really she was just here because someone had left cute little notes all around the castle. Her motivation today was two-fold: one, the recruitment notes said that they were seeking experienced swimmers to help act as lifeguards, and two, the notes said to seek out the one and only Finnegan Conner, who Bex had a vested interest in finally being able to identify after the war profiteering incident at Helena's broom race. So she had more than happily made her way to the Great Hall that Sunday, eager to both help out her extremely sinkable peers, and finally put her own curiosity surrounding the Great 21 Galleons Debacle to bed.
First things first though: she had to prove to the new nurse that her professed ability to swim was real and true, and not some misguided attempt at stolen valor. She couldn't imagine why anyone would lie about that, but seeing as how apparently the entire magical world was full of miserable little drowning children, and now they all had to swim in a casserole dish as a result (perhaps as a punishment???), she genuinely believed that anything could be possible at this point.
She cheerfully turned down the Nurse's offer of a flotation device, and carefully climbed down into the dish unaided. This set-up reminded her a bit of the giant cauldron that had been enlarged at the Halloween party that she'd attended a few months ago. Genuinely she couldn't see how this was easier than like, getting an actual pool, as Hogwarts was more than big enough for it, but the casserole dish was rather pretty so she was willing to let this one slide.
She had rather forgotten how much she liked swimming. She didn't love it the way she loved Quidditch, and was slowly growing to love plants, but there was a peaceful sort of joy in it that was a refreshing change of pace after this ominously stressful term. Could the ever louder tolling of her increasingly bad marks follow her into the water? Maybe, but Bex happily switched from a breaststroke to freestyle stroke, to better block out their shrill chimes underwater.
Once she'd successfully completed her lap across the dish and back again, she quickly checked in with the Nurse to confirm that she was trusted to be able to handle herself. Following this, she wrapped herself in one of the provided towels and performed a cursory scan of the room. In the corner of the Hall stood a boy with a whistle and a bright yellow armband and, figuring that this was the likeliest suspect when it came to the cryptic Lifeguard group organizer, made her way over to him.
"Hullo." She told him, holding her hand out to shake. "I'm Bex Lark. I got saw your fliers looking for experienced swimmers, so reporting for duty! You're Finnegan Conner, right? Did you know there's a nepo baby in your house trying to pay people to knock you unconscious?"
She snagged one of the yellow armbands and fastened it on, before placing one of the whistles around her neck. It turned out being an eleven year old lifeguard was a full time job, though, and her first client had come far sooner than expected.
At the first plaintive cry of "Help!" Bex quickly turned back to the pool, and soon spotted an overwhelmed looking student in the deeper area of the dish, clutching onto their flotation device for dear life. Seeing as the student did not appear to be actively drowning, and rather just needed some gentle assistance back to the shallower areas, Bex, with a heavy heart, found the strength within herself to refrain from blowing her whistle, and instead quickly lowered herself back into the pool and swam over to the student in need.
"Hi! Don't panic, I won't let you drown." She told the student. "I'm going to help lead you back to the edge, okay?" She took hold of one end of the other's kids flotation device and began to gently lead the two of them towards the dish edge.
She supposed that this was one way to audition for Finnegan Conner's Lifeguard club.

Sink or Swim?
Leaf splashed their arms to try keep themselves on the surface, but they knew it wouldn't be long before they would be too tired. From the edge of their vision, they could see a girl heading their way. She looked like she was on lifeguard duty or something, so Leaf presumed maybe she'd heard them struggling.
When she reached them (which somehow happened very quickly, she must be a great swimmer), she took hold of their floatation device, "Hi, don't panic, I won't let you drown. I'm going to help lead you back to the edge, okay?"
Relieved, Leaf obeyed and stopped splashing around, then nodded as she started to slowly pull them from the deeper parts of the pool to the side, where it wasn't long before they could walk along the floor again.
"Thanks!" Leaf said, making sure the girl could hear, "I owe you." They'd have to think of a way to repay her at some point- for now they just wanted her to know how grateful they were.
Oh my god. Did I really just almost begin to drown? What the hell was I thinking? That was such a stupid idea, Leaf! If she hadn't come and helped you, you'd be beneath the surface and much more likely to be sent straight to the hospital wing! As they recovered- and frantically scrambled out of the pool- they realised just how stupid they were to even enter that place.
So, they walked over to the nearest wall and leant up against it, waiting for the session to end so they could never have to see a swimming pool again. Dad will be furious at me. He never got mad, but then again, Leaf had never been so stupid.
