Alex meets Landon

I had loved the atmosphere of the Leaky Cauldron from the day I had stepped foot inside and today was no exception. I smiled as I caught the warmth and sound of laughter in the doorway and saw the happy groups of students huddled round each table.
I made my way to the counter over the creaky bare floorboards and sat on a high stool.
'Same as always, Hunter?' said a cheerful voice from the other side of the counter.
'Of course!' came my reply. Even though I'd only ordered here five times before, it felt like a second home. Shortly after, a plate topped high with warm toffee slid across the counter towards me.
'Thanks!' I said and dropped a few coins on the counter top. I had never tasted anything better than the toffee served at the Leaky Cauldron and couldn't wait to stuff my face with sugar whenever possible.
There was never enough money to buy a luxury like sugar at home. Whenever we did get sugar it was saved up until we had guests over for tea and cake. I couldn't wait to tell my family back at home about having toffee every day!
Suddenly the door creaked open and startled me.

─────Landon didn't spend a lot of time in places like the Leaky Cauldron, mainly because they were primarily for adults, but he knew he could get a few things there without them being only for adults. But when it was near the beginning of term and all of the students were spending time in Diagon Alley, Landon didn't mind spending a little time in the Leaky Cauldron.
Landon had been given permission to spend some time on his own in Diagon Alley while his parents did the shopping. They wanted him to branch out and meet new people. Landon could be a little shy at times, but he was trying to get better at talking to people. He had some good friends at Hogwarts already, thankfully, from his first year there. Now he was getting to go back and see them again, and Landon was really excited about it.
Landon walked into the Leaky Cauldron and went to find a seat. He found a seat next to a younger looking boy and smiled kindly at him. "Hey," he said. He then turned to look at the menu at the Leaky Cauldron, trying to figure out what he wanted. Normally if he wanted a treat, he would go to Fortescue's and get some ice cream, but he had decided to try and find something somewhere else for once. He glanced over toward the other boy again, eyeing his sugary treat. "What is that?" he asked curiously. "It looks really good," he added. Landon smiled, his blue eyes friendly. "My name's Landon, what's yours?" he asked curiously.

Alex meets Landon
working with @LandonMatthews'My name's Alex. I'm new here, I'm starting Hogwarts soon!' I smiled at the older boy who had sat next to me.
I looked down at my once towering plate of toffee but in it's place was an empty plate with my spoon resting against it. I ordered another plate of toffee to the friendly man behind the counter and shortly after a hot plate of shiny, melting toffee slid across the counter once again to sit in front of me.
I looked up at the boy next to me again
'Would you like some of my toffee?' I asked him.
I started looking through my backpack to make sure I had got everything I needed to start Hogwarts. My Mum was the only one in my family who had gone to Hogwarts and that was a very long time ago so the best my parents could do was send we luck and hope for the best. I got some extra money left from my school shopping but I don't think Dad would have been to proud that I had spent it on toffee.
School had never been a fun place for me. I had been bullied and I had found the lessons boring. Though, I had a strong feeling that Hogwarts was unlike muggle schools. I felt as though Hogwarts would be a new start, that things would change and that getting my invitation to go to a magic school of wizardry would be the best thing that would ever happen to me!
I sighed 'Landon, do you know any fun places that I should visit in Diagon Alley?'
I just need something to do I told myself, to keep my mind off of missing my family.

─────Landon smiled kindly as he spoke to the younger boy. At least he assumed he was younger, since he mentioned he was just starting Hogwarts and Landon was already a student there. Landon definitely hadn't seen the boy around before. Landon's grin widened as he looked at Alex. "Oh that's exciting, congratulations!" he said when Alex introduced himself and mentioned that he was getting ready to start at Hogwarts. "It's great," he added. "I really love Hogwarts." Landon really enjoyed his time at Hogwarts. He had made great friends there and he also loved learning new things.
Landon hummed a little as he watched Alex getting another plate of toffee. "You must have a big sweet tooth," he said with a laugh. He thought for a moment as Alex offered him some toffee. "Are you sure? I mean, you paid for it and everything..." he observed. He didn't want to take something that Alex had bought for himself. Landon could afford his own sweets, after all.
Landon looked around for a menu. "I'll buy my own treat, thank you," he finally decided. He didn't necessarily want toffee right now anyway. It might be a bit too sweet for him after all. He looked over at Alex again when Alex asked about fun places to visit in Diagon Alley. "That depends on what sort of things you find fun," he noted. "It seems like you really like sweets, so I would always suggest Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour. You might also really like the Magical Menagerie if you like animals," he suggested. "Otherwise, I personally love the bookstore generally, because I love books," he admitted.
