There was always that after dinner sort of lull when students would slowly disperse from the Great Hall, the corridors, and throughout their last moments on the grounds or in the Courtyard before they made their way to the dormitories for the night. The majority of the student body went without needing any reminders but there was most often a straggler or two most nights.

It reminded Simon that this must be what it's like to be manager of a store in London, closing down the shop for the night - ensuring that everything was in its place for the next day and that all customers had left so he could lock up. He had already checked the Great Hall to discover only some school elves polishing some of the sconces and he'd continue to his last part of the Castle.

He'd find the Courtyard nearly abandoned, with the exception of one student. As Simon walked closer and his dhampir eyes dilated wider to allow him to see better in the low-lighting, he discovered it was Linda Ramierez. Simon wouldn't interrogate her on whether or not she knew the rules were to head back for curfew - of course she knew. Besides, there was something bigger at play. She was sad and Simon didn't like to see anyone sad, especially a friend.

"Linda....." he spoke softly, hoping not to startle her. He also sort of tried his best to avoid a direct gaze so not to startle her with his eyes. They weren't THAT apparent and yet if one noticed, it could be quite unsettling as it wasn't normal - it wasn't human.

"What's gotten you so down?"

Simon lifted his arm and the large open sleeves of his cloak brushed down but he couldn't see the clockface of his mechanically wound watch since it was underneath his Hufflepuff sweater. He used his other hand to brush it aside so he could see it. It was still early enough and the shops wouldn't be closing yet. There was enough time....

"Hmm, well, I can't become your fairy godmother like in Cinderella and produce a dress out of thin air for you - and even if I could, I wouldn't want to know what the quality OR the style would look like," he smiled widely. Simon wasn't really known for having the best sense of style, but it was comfortable, and that's what worked best for him. "...What I can do, is get you to Hogsmeade before the shoppes close. Shall we go right now?" He meant it.

She'd have time if she needed to go to her dormitory to retrieve anything but they truly best set out quickly. Sometimes life threw unforseen events to others and he wanted to ensure this girl got her dress and got to go to the Ball with her friends feeling her best. Everyone deserved that.

"Just call me Simon Kincaid, your Fairy Godprefect, at your service, miss."

She said she was ready to go any time that he was ready to take him so he jumped up, clapping his hands together as he did so. "I'm ready right now, Linda!" And the sooner, the better. The shops would close eventually for the evening and they had to get there before that happened. Simon had a way of ensuring that. "Give me two minutes. Two and I'll meet you back by the Entrance Hall!" And with that, he took off super quick - his dhampir speedness helping him.

He'd make his way from the Courtyard to his small little singular dormitory in his room, give his pet rat a little treat to wake up to as he was slumbering away in his bed, and then grabbed his Silver Arrow broom and darted back out, ready to meet Linda at the Entrance Hall as she said.

His broom could fly fast, he knew how to use it well, and it would give them a straight shot to the wizarding town - no professors getting in their way, no magical creatures from the Forbidden Forest, no twists and turns along the way. The shortest distance between two points was always a straight line.
