Dear Mum and Da,
I have great and terrible news. I think that I will start with the bad news, to get it over with. So, I am very sorry that I am not upholding the Duke family house. I am sadly not Slytherin. I am a Hufflepuff! I am really sorry about that. I realize that I am the family fluke, and that you have full rights to punish me when I get home. But I do miss you greatly. Now on to the good stuff. I appear to have at least some Slytherin qualities. I can make friends apparently, I have been talking to people! I think that all this magical energy is making me braver. A friend I know you would be proud of making is Juniper Kyteler. She is a Slytherin and is incredibly nice. I also have made friends here in Hufflepuff, and my classes are pretty good, I think I understand them well. I hope you are good at home. Missing you.

Your father and I were incredibly distressed to hear the news of you in Hufflepuff. We have not told your brother yet. We want to see you break his heart. I know it seems harsh, but it's how life is. I will keep this letter short because I do not want to waste my energy on you. I still love you, but not as much as your sister.

I am missing you so much. How are things at Ilvermorny? At Hogwarts it's good. I made a friend(I know it's so cool!) Juniper, and a nice boy I met while sending an owl to you. His name is Nick. I love all the things that I'm being taught here! What are they teaching you there? And how weird are the Americans? I heard they call muggles no-mags. Is that true? Are they mean to you because you're British? If they are, I'll deal with them. Across schools.

I miss you too! Things here are actually pretty great! The Americans are strange, and have a few weird phrases. I love that you're making friends! I'm making some too. They're really nice, don't worry. No one has bullied me at all, no need to intimidate them, but thanks anyways. They really like me and my accent. And yes the rumors are true. They call muggles NO-MAGS! Insane right? So, do you want to plan our bakery? We can do it across schools! I'm more nothing without you.

How is home school? Do you miss me much? Have Mum and Da found out? That bite was pretty nasty. I know you're reading this expecting good news, but unfortunately I have none. I am not in Slytherin. I am not in Ravenclaw, I'm not even in Gryffindor, which Mum would find preferable. I'm in Hufflepuff. It's actually not bad, but don't tell mum. I've made a few friends, one Slytherin. I can't believe that I made friends, so it's not so bad. But another not great thing is that there are some mean kids who sometimes bully me, and you know that I have terrible strength. So they can push me around very easily. And I missed you so much that I went out at night to send Mum and Da a letter. I nearly got caught. Another student found me, but it went fine. I really like it here, I'm glad that I'm staying. There's this really annoying boy too. His name is uhg Blair. I really dislike him. I hope things are going well back home. Say hi to Jack for me!

She says that she's glad that you're making friends and that she misses you, and doesn't mind that you're in Hufflepuff. I agree. I see now that it is a great and loyal house.
