Hufflepuff vs Gryffindor: Match 5
Lucia missed, then spun around just in time to avoid the spell that Jake sent spinning towards her. It hadn't been on purpose, Lucia knew that, but she still couldn't help being annoyed at how her team was doing. Only Lea managed to land a spell - a blasting curse that really must have hurt - right before she and Jake were engulfed in fog. Lucia could barely see her teammates through the thick mist. "Are you two ok in there?"

"Sorry again!" Jake called out, grateful when the smoke began rolling in to hide his face from his other team-mates. TWICE he had sent spells at his team-mates. Maybe it was better that the dueling stage was being coated with fog now. He couldn't have possibly aimed worse than he was aiming now, even if he had his eyes closed. He took a deep breath and allowed himself to regroup...again.
He had to do better. If they were going to lose that was one thing, but he wouldn't let them lose because he couldn't stop throwing spells at his team-mates. Had he really gotten that rusty over the summer? "I'm fine..." he said in response to Lucia. "Just... hoping my spell goes the right way this time. I'm really sorry." he said again, trying to shake the guilt and embarrassment. "I'll do better.

There we go. She had better control of the spell now, more in the rhythm and focusing on less people as the spell Lea failed before would come to life before her, directed towards the one who gave her a glance, Aries. The Hufflepuff felt a little bad for the girl as she remembered her own time as a first and second year being attacked first and falling unconscious soon after. To Aries' credit, she was dodging most of these spells quite well, although Lea had a keen eye, using her own knowledge of where she would have dodged to intercept the Gryffindor with the explosion, the wind from before stopping her from getting out of the way. With that, Lea twirled her wand slightly as she stepped back to glance towards the other Gryffindors, ready for any spells headed her way.
Kim had his wand pointed at her, yet nothing would arise from it. This... had happened a few times now, hadn't it? Lea was almost thankful he wasn't on her team, not having to ask what might have been impeding him in the middle of the duel. Although- Jake seemed to have his own troubles, the spells still staying on the Hufflepuff's side despite their attacking nature. Her lips parted to speak, but she would only feel the thick fog that now covered her senses. Brown eyes blinked, trying to see out only to be met with hazy shapes that would hopefully be enough. An interesting challenge.

ARIES FELL TO the ground, groaning in pain. she eyed her teammate, seeing kito's protective gaze fall upon her. she smiled weakly, and he seemed to ask if she was alright. the fact that she signed up for this wasnt a mistale, and she was ready to sacrifice a bit for the win.
expecting that they'd win anyways. she shrugged it off and stood up, all parts of her body screaming pain. she put a smirk back on her face and tried to stand still while facing the opposite team.

Nicky was sad that all their attempts at attacking seemed to fail. But even if they lost there would always be a next time. For now she had to stop thinking about winning or losing and get her head in the game. And then move on from it no matter what. It was going to be fine, they were going to do awesome.

Cassius was sure the next round was going to be an explosive affair. Both teams looked primed to unload on each other and he even thought the second year might change the script up. Alas, what happened was less than the spectacular chaos he was anticipating and hoping for.
Hufflepuff attacked and Gryffindor... seemed to be unsure as to what to do. Was it a miscommunication? Whatever it was, Gryffindor barely had time to defend themselves from he onslaught of the badgers.
Even through the fog that consumed two of their three duellists, Hufflepuff unleashed their might. An impressively cast knockback jinx spread itself and achieved solid hits on its targets, Aries and Kim. Aries was in a bad way only made worse by a blasting curse from Lea. As she fell, Cassius called for a pause to allow her to be moved to safety and receive medical attention if needed.
Gryffindor were now down a duellist and facing a bright light cast by Jake that would undoubtedly make life a bit more difficult.

Before Aries was taken out by their opponents. If Kim had been on the other side, he'd have targeted her. Because she was the weakest and new to the dueling scene. It was like seeing a lamb in a herd of sheep. Obviously, the predator would go after the lamb versus an adult sheep. The crafty badgers seemed to be of the same mindset as both Lucia and Lea went after the girl. Unfortunately, Aries was not able to dodge the two more experienced duelists this time and they ended up taking her out of the match. Now it had become a 2 v 3 fight, which was more in favor of the badgers. It was like Kim was cursed when it came to Hufflepuff. If he really thought about it, Kim was reminded of the last time he'd faced the Badgers. Wait, had it been the last time? He couldn't remember anymore. The fourteen year old had lost that time around too. Although, he should have won it but had ended up getting knocked out in the end. Kim's teammate had frozen and was about to take the full brunt of a spell in a very dangerous place, but before it could happen, Kim had stepped in to take the spell for his teammate. As a result, he'd gotten knocked out and woke up in the hospital later. With @Eun-ji Lee Hunt sitting by his side. Kim's expression darkened upon recalling that he'd woken up from a specific nightmare that afternoon. Directly before he'd woken up in the hospital wing of the castle. Hufflepuff really did bring out the worst in him. Not to mention Rabbit... when he had been there... he'd had a love-hate relationship with Hufflepuff. But now... there was just hate. Well, technically he didn't really hate Hufflepuff but he also didn't like it either. Perhaps the term was 'dislike' for the particular House. Lost in his thoughts once again, Kim didn't realize the match had started up again. Not until he got hit with a spell, which had only just barely hit him. It was more like a jolt, as his favorite spell hit him directly in the shoulder. A soft grunt escaped him as his attention returned to the match. At the same time, he heard a sound in Aries's direction and turned his head just in time to see her collapse as she took a large hit from both Lucia and Lea at the same time. One down. Two to go. The thought began to circulate inside his head. Maybe the badgers could just get it over with and hit him with a few well-placed spells during the next round and send the boy into blissful unconsciousness. Or maybe even take him out of this world once and for all. It was a morbid thought but he couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to never wake up again. He wouldn't have to deal with all this again. He wouldn't have to be in pain all the time. He wouldn't have to worry about people continuing to betray him in the future. Kim shook his head, trying to brush these thoughts away from him. He was still in a duel, even though the result was slowly becoming more and more clear to him. Yes, Kim believed he was now cursed and that he would bring bad luck to anyone he was around or did things with. Look at the probable outcome of this duel for one! This was only the beginning. Soon it would spread to other parts. All Kim felt like doing right now was giving up but a part of him didn't want to and told him to keep fighting until the very end came. Even though a voice inside him was asking why he even cared, Kim was stubborn. He'd stick with this to the end, no matter what happened. Dueling was something he cared about and he didn't want to give it up. Not without a fight that is. The teen eventually came to a decision. If he lost all of the three duels being held this year, he'd quit the dueling team. Because it would mean he wouldn't be able to focus. And if he couldn't focus, there was no point in staying in the team because he would just drag them down. But if he managed to win at least one of the three, he'd try and make it work and hopefully get out of this dark hole he was in. A sigh escaped his lips as he glanced over at his only remaining partner. |

Nebulus made for an interesting challenge, although she could still generally pick out the forms of others around her. The only strange part, at least to Lea, was how little those forms seemed to move on the other side of the block, unsure if they were truly targets or just packed forms of fog that had yet to fully spread evenly across her vision. Still it was the best chance at actually hitting someone, so her arm rose to point in the direction she had last seen Aries and the darker fog patch before returning to her strongest spell, the same one the Hufflepuff seemed to rely on quite a bit within this duel so far.
"Confringo." She could hear the blast although whether it actually hit, Lea didn't know. The pause suggested so, but it could have been her spell or someone else's- well, Lea could always ask later if she was truly curious about it. For now, it left two shadowy spots in the clouds and with the pause over, it was time to continue this duel.

Hufflepuff vs Gryffindor: Match 5
Time to try again with this new skill. Lucia took a deep breath and called out the incantation of the knockback jinx - a classic in any duellist's arsenal. To her suprise, the spell not only split exactly as she'd practised, but hit both targets; just as a confringo jinx Lucia knew to attribute to Lea burst out of the cloud of fog and hit Aries square on. After Jake produced a well-cast ball of light that Lucia had to avoid looking at, the boy who was moderating the match (wait, had the referee switched while Lucia wasn't paying attention?) called for a break to get Aries off the piste. One down, two to go.

Nicky was not happy about the duel to say the least. But she had to keep going for the sake of her house. She couldn't afford to wallow in her suffering. She had to focus on the game, although her heart ached for Aries who had suffered more than her teammates. She had to do her best and crush them all.
