Time: Midafternoon, around 1:00pm
@Kim SatoSummer camp was in session and Sage was beginning to get used to it. Sure she missed Cassie and Kora, but she did not miss them as much as she had at the beginning of the camp. It was a beautiful day outside, sunny and warm. Sage had emerged from her cabin, Thestral, and gone to sit outside of it. Sage sat on the ground admiring the nature around her. Sage had brought a journal with her and was writing a letter to her family.
Dear Cassie and Kora,
Camp is fine so far. I haven’t made any enemies for life… yet. Kora, I hope you aren’t missing me too much and I hope you’re helping Cassie out. Cassie, I hope Kora is behaving and that everything is going well without me.

It was midafternoon already and the hot Sun beat down on Sage. Sage set down the journal beside her and laid down in the warm grass. Beams of bright sunshine caused Sage to close her eyes. Sage smiled up at the clear blue sky. If all the days at camp are like this, maybe it will be a better experience than I thought about summer camp at Hogwarts,” thought Sage. Sage continued to lay there in the grass, eyes closed as she smiled. Nothing could ruin her day, yet.

| ─── | It was Sunday, July 2nd, 2023.
For Kim, it still didn't feel real. Surprisingly for him, he'd managed to live through the first day on his own. But it was heartbreakingly lonely for him. At least he didn't have any responsibilities at this summer camp this time. He wouldn't have to worry about doing things for others. However, at the same time, that would have been a relief, he could have focused all his attention on his duties. As it was, since he wasn't in charge of anything, he couldn't help but wallow in his feelings. Maybe being busy would have been better. Searching for something to occupy his time, that wouldn't require him to interact with people, Kim came to a decision.. He'd resort to playing some pranks on others. It had been awhile since he'd last done so and he didn't want his skills getting rusty, as he was actually quite good at it. Only when it was just him involved, of course. If he was part of a group playing pranks, he couldn't guarantee the complete success of the prank because of outside influences. Such as how those involved would react to things. The Mischief Makers was a bit different because it was a prank club he ran for the school. It didn't really matter if people got caught later.... As it was a prank club. They did pretty tame pranks and nothing would really hurt their victims, just really annoy them. For the club, there were limits. When it came to Kim going out on his own and doing them, it was a different story, he had no limits and would do whatever he felt like doing at the time. Of course, he'd never try and kill or maim someone. That was going too far, even for him. Kim didn't like playing pranks that might result in permanent injury or death, because they wouldn't be considered pranks to him if such a thing were to take place. But other than that, he'd do anything to others. Most were harmless but some were a little bit more..... If this had been an ordinary day, Kim would have loved exploring the cabin he'd been assigned to. The Dragon Cabin was actually very lovely and something Kim would have been quite happy to check out. But as it was, he didn't really feel like doing much of anything and didn't even want to be at camp. However, he didn't want to be at home even more. If he was home, he'd have to act as if everything was fine, or his parents would wrangle what was wrong out of him. They had a knack for doing it, which was a bit annoying. Parents were scary sometimes. And this time, he didn't have the excuse of going to stay with friends after camp. Now for his first prank, what should it be? Kim gave it some thought and eventually decided upon something simple but probably effective when it came to most people. He picked up a cockroach and a spider from the ground, neither of which seemed to be anyone's pet, and placed them inside a small container. Heading outside, he meandered around until he found a suitable target. A girl lying down in the grass with her eyes closed, her face pointing up at the sky. Perfect. It was as if she was meant to become Kim's very first victim... He quickly undid the lid of the container, dumped the contents (spider and cockroach) onto the girl's chest and rushed off to hide behind a nearby tree. What he was aiming for were screams from the girl when she woke up and saw or felt the critters moving around on her. She wouldn't be able to see him from his current position, unless she'd managed to wake up before he'd managed to fully hide himself from sight. Kim liked playing pranks but he didn't like getting recognized because it made it harder for him to play pranks later on. |

Sage heard what she thought were footsteps around her, but she didn’t bother to open her eyes and check what the sound was. She was at summer camp; there was bound to be other people around her. Had she known what she was in store for, she would have opened her eyes or not even laid down. She felt an odd sensation of something crawling on her skin and when she opened her eyes to brush what she guessed to be a piece of grass off her arm, she let out an award winning scream. Sage leapt off the ground, focused on trying to brush the bugs off of her.
“Oh, my God!” Sage shrieked loudly. Sage had such a deep fear of bugs, she hated them with every fiber of her being. Finally, once she was certain the bugs were completely gone from her body, she stopped screaming. She looked around with a look of pure anger in her eyes. She didn’t see anyone, but there was no possible way that these bugs just happened to stumble across Sage all at the same time. Sage stood there silently looking for the culprit. Still, there was no sign of anyone.
“Who did this?” Sage yelled, turning in a full circle just in case the prankster was behind her somehow. She looked this way and that. The amount of time she focused on each detail of her surroundings was just enough to let the person run if she wasn’t looking in their direction. Growing more frustrated with every second that passed, Sage looked down at her right foot to see one of the spiders from the prank. She took a deep breath before leaning down to pick it up. Spiders weren’t as bad as cockroaches were, but she still couldn’t stand them. She waved the spider around in the air, aware she must look ridiculous to anyone who didn’t know what she was doing.
“Well? Who’s fault is this?” she demanded. Sage was near giving up on figuring out who had done this.

A complete success. The girl screamed just as he'd wanted her to and started freaking out about the critters. She managed to brush most of the bugs, insects and arachnids off herself within record time. Kim couldn't help but smirk at the speed she'd used to rid herself of the unwanted things. From his hiding spot, he watched as she whirled around and glared at no one in particular, demanding that the culprit show themselves. She had a great set of lungs too, which was good to know! Well, it was about time to leave. He didn't want to get caught out there when no one else was around, it would make him look rather suspicious. Fortunately, Kim spotted someone in the distance who looked as if they were heading towards her. They would probably serve as a target for her wrath, as she would probably think they were the culprit responsible for the prank. Kim's lips twitched with amusement at the thought, yes this was definitely a way to distract himself for awhile. It was easier to focus on this than on his dark thoughts, consuming him. With that being said, the dark haired teen got up and headed off, away from the scene of the 'crime'. It had been a lot of fun. Whether or not he'd see her again remained to be seen. But if he did, it might be fun to play another prank on her later. Without her knowing he was behind it... |
