A Friendship Blossoming
Juniper entered the courtyard, expecting her friend to be right behind her and breathed in deeply. The cake Minnie had given her outside of the abandoned toilets had helped with the stench that was stuck in her nose from said toilets, but the fresh air was still a relief to inhale. It was a little brisk out, the air crisp, but the sun was shining down with few clouds in the sky and the first year Slytherin was comfortable enough in just her uniform and robe despite normally getting cold easily. She hadn’t spent a lot of time out here in the courtyard yet besides running through it to get to class, so she stopped at the edge and looked around.
The courtyard was made of grey stones and stone bricks. It was beautiful with a large and very tall fountain in the middle. There were a few students out here from various houses chatting, some sketching and others reading. Juniper felt content here, she could almost sense the past happiness that occurred in this place. She imagined how this courtyard had seen so much and had provided joy and comfort to so many students throughout the years. She was certain this would become one of her reading spots. Her eyes continued to scan the area wondering where the most comfortable place to sit would be while she waited for her newfound friend to arrive.

A Friendship Blossoming
Minnie breathed in deeply, letting Juniper go ahead of her. That awful stench of the abandoned toilets had made her feel slightly sick. This day is going much better than I thought it would. I actually made a friend! She smiled happily. Now no bullies could get her. She then ran after Juniper.
The courtyard was beautiful. Minnie couldn't believe her eyes when she looked around it. This would be a perfect place to relax and work on recipes or homework. She found Juniper sitting on a bench. "Hey Juniper, isn't this place wonderful?" She had started to become a bit more open with Juniper now that she knew her. Then a thought struck her. Wouldn't it be great if we pulled a prank on the bullies? "Juniper, I just had the best idea. What if we did pranks on the bullies? That would teach them how to be nice." She sat down on the bench, and grabbed her sketchbook, wanting to draw an idea for a new pastry. She would base it off the courtyard, and how it smelled and how it seemed to taste. I hope Juniper likes my idea. And maybe if we become closer, I can tell her about my family. She thought. "So, how about it?"

A Friendship Blossoming
Juniper had chosen to sit on a bench near the fountain where Minnie followed her, sat down next to her, and pulled out a sketch book. The first year Slytherin smiled at Minnie’s comment about how wonderful the courtyard was, and she nodded in agreement. Juniper was intrigued by Minnie’s idea about pranking the bullies and raised her eyebrows in response. She had never pulled a prank before. Her father was very strict, and she was nervous how he would react if she got in trouble. On the other hand, her older brother sometimes pulled pranks at Durmstrang, she knew this because he would tell her about them when he would visit home and they would laugh and laugh. Juniper didn’t mind pranks as long as they didn’t interfere with her reading or her learning. Besides, it would be worth it to get back at the bullies, show them that they weren’t ones to be walked all over. Finally, after thinking it over a bit she responded to her new Hufflepuff friend “that’s a great thought Minnie. Do you have any ideas?” and then leaning in closer to Minnie and whispering very quietly so nearby students wouldn’t be able to hear “I wonder if we could get some contraband items somehow, like Dungbombs or Belch Powder…or we could do something more simple and give them some baked goods that look delicious but actually taste awful, pretending like we're sucking up to them. ”

A Friendship Blossoming
Minnie giggled. "I love that idea. Actually, I have a dung bomb!" It's so wonderful to actually have a friend. And one that is so funny! Today was now on track to be amazing. "You have the best ideas Juniper. And about the baked goods thing....You're talking to a baker, so that wouldn't be a problem." Minnie wondered how Juniper was in Slytherin. She's so brave and loyal. I would think her a Gryffindor or Hufflepuff. But she would never tell her that. It would be an insult. And she didn't want to lose the only friend she had, and a friend that would stand up to her bullies. It makes me think of Perry, she would always have my back. She realized that she was thinking about Perry again and shook herself. You promised yourself that you wouldn't think about her because it's too painful. Minnie also realized that she was frowning. She immediately put on a smile, not wanting Juniper to think that she didn't enjoy her company. "You are the best Juniper." She complemented. "I'm now glad that I was bullied, because it led to meeting you." That bathroom trip that started out terrible, had now become a blessing.

“Hmmmmm to use a Dungbomb we would need the bullies in a room with not very many people in it, preferably just the bullies and for the baked goods we would have to leave them somewhere where the bullies would find them first….maybe we could package the baked goods in a gift box and leave them where they usually sit at their dining table in the Great Hall, that way we can both be nearby to see them eat the goods”, Juniper laughed a bit at the idea of seeing the bullies faces when they tasted the sabotaged baked goods. Still thinking the plan through Juniper bit her bottom lip and then continued “we could possibly sneak into the kitchens at some point to bake the goods but that's risky. As for the dungbomb, I’m not sure where a good spot for that to go off would be, what do you think?” Juniper had noticed Minnie frowning, but it was replaced with a smile almost as soon as Juniper had noticed the frown. She didn’t say anything though, Minnie seemed to have not wanted Juniper to notice, perhaps with time the friends would open up a bit more with each other but until then Juniper didn’t want to scare her first friend off. Juniper looked down at her hands, considering biting her nails, a habit of hers that both her and her father hated, instead though she sat on her hands and looked back at Minnie for more brainstorming ideas.

I think she noticed. Minnie thought. Well, I'll just have to pretend it didn't happen. Or maybe I should explain myself. It took all her effort to keep her from sighing. I don't want to lie to my new friend.
"So, I think that we could figure out their usual routes, and set a dungbomb off where they are going. And I think we could send a package of the "Sweets" to them by mail, perhaps address it by their Mum or something so that they don't get suspicious? I mean, I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to get into the kitchens. I could probably ask an older student to tell me how to get in." Minnie thought about how she would make the sweets look tasty while making the inside taste awful. It'll be fine. She thought. Then she decided to tell Juniper what had her down.
"Hey, Juniper? I-you know how I looked sad a bit ago? Well it's because of back home. I really enjoy you-you're amazing! I just have a pure-blood friend who was forced to go to the American school. I miss her, and you remind me of her. You're both kind and brave, and you both are really great people. I just wanted to thank you for being nice to me." She exhaled. I hope she understands.

Juniper grinned at Minnies suggestions, “that’s perfect for the dungbomb, let’s follow them around for a few days to learn their routines and routes and then we can pick a spot. We could potentially sneak out of our dorms and meet in the kitchen tonight to bake and then we can send the sweets to them, they’ll get them with the morning mail most likely if we send it tonight, although we would get in big trouble if we got caught so maybe we need to think that plan out some more.” Juniper paled slightly at the thought of sneaking out of her dorm and breaking the rules. She knew the potential of getting into trouble was high and yet here she was seriously considering sneaking out of her dorm to go do some midnight baking with her new Hufflepuff friend, perhaps they needed a different plan that didn't involve sneaking out.
Junipers grin vanished as the mood of the discussion shifted to a more serious tone with Minnies change of subject, she was being vulnerable with the Slytherin which Juniper appreciated, it was refreshing to have someone be so honest. She was used to people concealing their emotions, it was all her family ever did, Merlin forbid they feel anything other than contentment. The first year Slytherin gave the blonde Hufflepuff a small smile “Thanks Minnie, I appreciate your honesty. Thanks for sharing. You’re amazing too. I’m sure your friend is missing you just as much as you’re missing her. No need to thank me, it’s easy being nice to you cause you’re so nice too." Her small smile turned into a big grin as she ended on a more cheerful note "Chin up Minnie! We're on an exciting mission”
