Remedy's Dialogue #796f4e

-------
With closed eyes, Remedy melted into the fabric of her blanket and merged with nature's silence.

The ardent rays of the sun overhead seeped into her tanned skin, although the occasional gust of wind pelted her in tiny water droplets from the lake near her feet. A defeated sigh spewed from her lips as the newly-dubbed Slytherin attempted to disregard the jabbering and gleeful witches and wizards who gathered outdoors for respite at the Great Lake. Of course people would come interject the girl's peace on such a beautiful day as this; there was no surprise present in her caustic features. The halls of Hogwarts, while opulent and monumental in design, possessed a tendency for its walls to transcend to loudsome volumes.

Being the only child she was, Remedy didn't much care for loud. She attempted to tune it out, solely focusing her attentiveness upon the cries of seagulls and the lapping of water but to no avail. The Great Lake would soon become congested as the crunching of shoes and sandals treaded along the graveled shoreline prompting Remedy to rise to her elbows. Another gale of wind would greet her, bestowing the saltiness of lake water to linger on her lips. Her dark orbs scanned the plot around her for anyone of familiarity; perhaps a friend, a fellow housemate, her dormmate, but it was hard to see anything as the sun's glare befell her vision.

Rising from her laying position, Remedy would overlook the horizon and muse the possibilities the school year would deliver. There was much to learn, but there was an overwhelming sense of lonely as those who arrived alongside Remedy would either be sorted to other houses or fall into a bout of jealousy for seemingly no apparent reason, leaving Remedy to be alone on the forefronts. By ancient reckoning, Remedy would realize that the sun was alone too, but still shone.

Charlotte was her mother's daughter in many ways, but the need for beauty seemed to be the most prevalent on days like this.

She had awoken to the feeling of bitter yearning twisting through her stomach, swirling with a burn that slashed through her grogginess and sent her on a mission through the castle for something that could alleviate the sensation. It was a seeking feeling, one that pulled at her and led her this way and that, around winding corridors and stain glass windows, until finally she had pushed through the doors to the grounds and could breathe again.

Sunlight streamed onto her skin and licked the wound of need from her core until she could finally function. She watched the trees rustle with autumn wind through her stringy bangs and inhaled the dry scent of the season. Beauty was what she needed, so beauty was what she got. That was one of the great things about Hogwarts. You could not wallow for long, because every few paces you would be hit with the magnificence of magic, and suddenly there was nothing to worry about.

Lottie rode her high down the grassy slopes of the Hogwarts grounds, flicking her fingers at tall grass and brushing her hands on crunchy leaves. She had her sights set on the Great Lake. It lived up to its name in its expansive, glistening state, the sun glaring off of it in a way that blinded Lottie as well as excited her. She couldn't tear her eyes from it as it came closer and closer.

She had never been accustomed to the noise of a school like Hogwarts. In her far childhood, the adults in her life would always joke that it must be impossible to have so many siblings, especially since she had been placed right in the middle of them all. But they had been trained like hounds to be quiet as church mice when within the walls of their home. It had nearly scared her to death when she had first entered Hogwarts and found that now home was no longer the place to be silent. It seemed nowhere was.
