First Meeting
Private to @Joshua Peters
It was always the smell of the books that enchanted her. It was like a fairy tale, walking into the library, a quiet room, and taking a seat in a slightly cushioned chair. A fairy tale for a place full of fairy tales. It truly was an introvert's sanctuary.
Koko sat back in her chair. She was just sitting there, not doing much, but she was fine. She didn't need to read. Just being here was fine by her. The elaborate bookshelves put her in a trance as she gazed around, drinking in the sight. Even though she had been sorted into the noble house of Slytherin, she had a great thirst for knowledge. This thirst of knowledge had trouble being quenched.
She had to resist the urge to go over to the shelves and push all the books to the back. It was a habit of hers, and it was very hard for her to just leave books crooked. Koko mentally slid a tune into her head to help her relax a bit more. It was actually an American song, House of Memories by Panic! At the Disco, but she found that she rather liked hearing an unfamiliar American accent. It suited her unfamiliarity and made her feel more at home. With a sigh, she heaved herself up from her seat and gave in to the temptation of fixing the books, just like a good old teachers' pet.

First Meeting
Josh walked into the library, the hood of his jacket over his head. He attempted to be as quiet as possible to not disturb the librarian or the other students. He was looking for a book. A book that was in the restricted section. He quietly snuck past a girl, whom from what he could tell was listening to music, and walked slowly into the restricted section.
He glided his fingertips along the binds of hundreds of books, looking for a book on a specific type of dark magic. One that someone he knew used to make himself a more advanced wizard. He came across books of dangerous beasts, curses, dark magic, horcruxes, philosophers, dark wizards, and deadly potions, but none on what he was looking for. He continued on into a darker section of the library. There were records of mysterious wizards' and witches' deaths and cases that were never solved. There was almost a whole bookshelf of strange events and occurrences that had befallen many famous witched and wizards. He kept searching, further and further into the restricted bookshelves until he finally found it.
The book was a black book with silver bindings. The Book of Scathing Spells. He flipped through the book searching for the page on a spell of a dark enhancement of powers. He kept searching and searching, however, he was so engrossed in finding the page, that he didn't notice the girl who had snuck up behind him.
If life were a person, I'd stab them in the neck with a pair of scissors.

First Meeting
Out of the corner of her eye, she’d noticed a boy sneaking past her. He didn’t think she was that dumb, did he? This time, it would be Koko sneaking, as she discarded the book in her hands and went to ever so quietly follow him. It was eerie—what use would a Gryffindor of all people have for the Restricted Section? Not to mention that Koko was curious, too—she just would have been more secretive about it.
The Restricted Section was a place Koko had wanted to see for a while. She was more amazed by the actual sight of it than by her earlier fantasies. She snapped herself out of her thoughts, still following the boy silently—she also noticed that he was a Gryffindor. Not that it mattered in the slightest.
”What do you think you’re doing?” Koko asked in a whisper. She tried to seem menacing, but in all honesty she didn’t care anymore. She just wanted to know what the male lion was reading. He seemed to be particularly engrossed in it. Koko tried to scrub her smirk off of her face and replace it with a scowl, but at the thrill of adventure an even wider smile broke out. ”Sorry if I seemed rude... may I ask what you’re reading?”

Josh jumped up, spinning around with his wand raised. "What–How did you–ugh. Never mind." He shoved his wand back into the pocket of his jacket and he shut the book, leaving a small bookmark in it. "It's nothing that would concern you." He grabbed the book quickly shoving it into a bookshelf and putting more books in front and on top of it.
Josh couldn't let anyone know what he was looking at. It could get him expelled and, possibly, get himself in greater trouble with the ministry. The last time someone had caught him reading the book, he had to obliviate them of what they saw. He surely would have to do the same for Koko, but he had to wait. He would obliviate her when she was distracted, then place her back where she was when he had passed her.
She must've followed him after he passed by her. Josh sat down at a nearby table, making Koko follow. "You better swear to Merlin that you won't tell anyone," he said with a stern voice. "If i get caught, i could get in huge trouble." It was true. But he was also building suspense and anticipation. When she was too deep, he'd pull out his wand and quickly perform the memory charm. He couldn't trust anyone with anything that had to do with his being in the restricted section.
If life were a person, I'd stab them in the neck with a pair of scissors.

Koko suppressed a harsh laugh as she heard the Gryffindor's words. "No duh, Sherlock," she snapped, her voice still in a low whisper. "It's not like I would tell anyways... I would have come back here if I were sure I wouldn't get caught. However, today hardly anyone is in the library... A perfect time to look around here. And if you try to obliviate me, stupefy me, whatever, I will hex you without regret. Got it?" She had no interest in telling anyone, unless this kid tried to do something to her. Or raise a demon. If there were demons. That wouldn't turn out well; it would probably end up with someone dying or being paralyzed."If i get caught, i could get in huge trouble."
"Of course I won't tell anyone," she hissed, "But you'd better not be doing anything too dark. Or even dark at all. Reading about it is fine, but you'll not only get in trouble if I tell on you; you'll also get in trouble if you try performing any of these spells." An internal eye roll. Someone who seemed like they could have been sorted into Ravenclaw ought to be smarter than this. Both of them should be smarter than that. Koko needed to be more clever, clever so that she could live up to the expectations she held for herself in Slytherin house.
These books actually looked very interesting. She picked one up, reading the label: A Parselmouth's Tricks to Commanding Serpents. It certainly seemed captivating. She flipped through it, keeping the boy in the corner of her golden gaze.

First Meeting
"I wasn't searching to try and do anything. I'm trying to find out to a family member of mine," Josh said going back to get his book. He opened in and sat down in a chair, laying the book on his lap and pulling out a notebook and folder that seemed to have hundreds of other papers inside it. "When one performs this spell, they must be extremely careful....when performed wrong could cause DEATH or another permanent alteration of their personality..."
The papers had an endless amount of notes on the one spell. Certain things were underlined and put in bold. Others with emphasized. There were seven papers that were folded up in envelopes. Each had a stamp that said "CLASSIFIED" on it. Josh didn't even know what was on them. They were papers about the spell, and his father's case, sent to him from an friend inside the Ministry. The papers said what his test results from St. Mungo's were and the changes they found. Reports on his behavior and how they had found him. Josh wanted to know what his father was trying to do and why he needed such dark magic to do. Dark magic, that made him someone Josh didn't recognize.
"I'm solving a mystery," he said, "But I'm not telling you what it's about. If you ever find out what it's about though, I will have to obliviate you. The ministry wouldn't want you knowing this information either."
If life were a person, I'd stab them in the neck with a pair of scissors.

[quote]So he had a dark family history. The Slytherin could relate. Taking a glance around the room to make sure no one had snuck up on them, she set the book back and chose another one, this time one on Horcruxes. It was a topic that Koko was fairly interested in, not that she would eve make any for herself. She just wanted to learn more about them.
Because no one seemed to be near, Koko raised the tone of her voice from a whisper as she replied, ”I’m not sure if I would like to know about the dark wizards in your family, much less help you stop them. But I do have a few family members who are similar. My adoptive mother is one.” She topped talking abruptly. That was the most she’d said about anyone in her family, excluding a few talks with friends. If she wasn’t sure she could trust this Gryffindor, why should she tell them anything. They were a Gryffindor. Gryffindors, who pretended to be brave but were actually as cowardly as Hufflepuffs. A Gryffindor, who would probably have a rivalry with any Slytherin.
She took a seat next to him. Just to keep an eye on him. Make sure he did nothing suspicious. Now that Koko actually thought about it, solving a mystery might be fun... and she didn’t really think this kid could obliviate her. Definitely not if he was a first year. He seemed to be writing in a notebook, and as she watched his hand move a thought occurred to her. She spoke aloud, saying, ”I don’t believe I’ve introduced myself. My name is Koko. Yours?”

Josh stopped for a minute. "Joshua," he stated plainly. Why a Slytherin, of all the houses, would be getting on a first name basis with a Gryffindor. The heads of Gryffindor warned him about the Slytherins. That you can't get too close to them, because they'll just end up stabbing you in the back. Josh found that hard to believe though. After all, his mother was a Slytherin. But this girl, she gave off this aura. One that told him he could share things with her, but not too much.
her constant glancing at what he was writing, reading. The interests in the particular books. It had been another thirty minutes before he spoke up again. Koko had been looking at him write the entire time. As if trying to see what dark secrets he held. Oh, but there were so many, she wouldn't even get halfway just by reading his family history. It had grown uncomfortable for Josh. Koko hadn't left him yet, instead, she stayed by his side, reading multiple books off the shelves.
"I'm sorry. But is there a reason why you're still here with me? I mean, I didn't find it weird when you found out I was in here, but now I do. You've been watching me write for the past—almost 45 minutes. What are you trying to do?" Josh's voice was filled with a slightly annoyed but interrogative tone.

First Meeting
So his name was Joshua... god, she didn’t want to pronounce that. She was too lazy. She’d just call the Gryffindor Josh.
As he’d been writing, she had eventually gotten bored and produced a sketchbook and set of pencils. Koko had began to draw, but sooner than later she was interrupted by the other student. He was asking a question of sorts, and he was saying something that she didn’t want to take in the wrong way. Sure, Koko could be creepy at times. She enjoyed watching humans. Seeing how they worked, how they thought—it wasn’t just interesting to her, it was useful as well. However, if this kid wanted her to leave, she might as well go right ahead.
She added guidelines onto the figure that she’d drawn without yet knowing what it was. Likely a human or an anthropomorphic creature. She wouldn’t be drawing a full animal, not with this type of frame. Koko didn’t reply to Josh, not immediately. She initially found no reason to—if she was there, she was ”there, and there was nothing he could do about it. She finished the face in a few moments, and then she looked Josh in the eye. ”I’m here because I feel like being here. I can leave if I want. But ,I’m not going to leave at your command. Heck, I might even go back to the Restricted Section to pass time.” it came out sharper than intended, and louder as well. ”I apologize I’m I’m being a tad bratty; I’m just a little annoyed. Not with you, don’t worry,” Koko added, not entirely truthfully. She set pencil to paper once again, trying to tune out the world around her but with no luck.
