A Forgery of a Destiny
A wave of relief flooded him as Arthur reached out and felt Serena's hand. He held onto her arm tightly. Pulling show and consistently until she had broken out of the surface of the sand. Others were coming over to help him now, pulling Serena up. "Call an ambulance!" he said to one of the people standing in the crowd behind them.
The people were finally realizing what was happening and coming over to help them. He let go of Serena's hand. If Marissa was there with her then at least they knew where she was, which was more than could be said for the others. Laila, Dorothy, and others were still down there, and could be anywhere under the sand. He stood and moved over to another part of the collapsed building. For a moment he was paralyzed. It was just too much. And they were running out of time. How are they going to get everyone out? The seriousness of the situation was hitting him suddenly.. People could really die.
Suddenly a noise brought him back to the present. He couldn't be sure, but he thought he heard someone screaming. He ran over to where the noise had seemed to come from and started digging again, reaching over the and and praying he would find another warm body beneath it.
Actions: tell someone to call an ambulance, try to pin point Dorothy by her shout and dig her out

A Forgery of a Destiny

Kids these days were a bit too sensitive. A near death experience and they are forever tramatized. Do you know what is more traumatic? Actually dying, losing an eye or a limb, seeing someone else die. There are some things that cannot be brought back -- death was finite in this world unless measures were taken to prevent such a travesty. It was a constant struggle, a losing game really. Every one of these kids would die eventually, but hopefully it would not be for a long time and when the day came they would be warm in their bed with their family and loved ones all around them.
Solomon was saving their lives, but it was like saving a herd of lemurs that had their heart set on running off the edge of a cliff. These kids were utterly useless, weak creatures made of paper and string that would melt away in a rainstorm. They could not survive a repeat of the First or the Second Wizarding War. He was a young man during that time, he was introduced to death and battle as a young adult man and he was hardly ready. They were younger, so much younger. They did not have mastery over themselves, nevermind their wand or their word. They hardly understood the concept of the magic that flowed inside of them, their terrible potential and the consequences of their efforts. And that was using their skills when imperiled. There was no danger here, merely a castle in a far away land where they could play as princes and knights for a few days whilst Lear met the threat on his own terms. However, these children were not particularly clever, in fact they were reckless and dangerous. He should have locked them in a safe, padded room with rounded corners and nothing small enough that they could lodge in their airway but he had been told on numerous occasion that his methods were 'traumatizing.'
Then what was this?
These near death experiences these Hufflepuffs seemed to thrust themselves into. Serena was briefly buried alive, under several pounds of earth. Just enough to pin her in place. Serena was ripped from her earthen confines by a pair of firm hands, they were on a busy beach. Good samaritans as well as the curious had already started to gather. It was a mixture of benevolents and selfie-takers that had congregated.
"Mari is still stuck"
The poor girl coughed up a lungful of sand.
"Please... help her..."
There were a few gathered at the wreck of a castle, their confusion and curiosity turned to a shade of panic as they realized that there were other victims trapped beneath the sands. "How many!" One of them shouted. "Dear God," another gasped as they knelt down at the edge of the Sand Castle and started digging with cupped hands. It would become a community effort, these were muggles not wizards. They did not posess any means of excavation but their bare hands and their will to at the very least try.
So they dug.
"Call an ambulance!"
Arthur cried. Was someone calling for help among those gathered -- the rubber neckers, the good samaritans, the curious and the wannabe heroes. He found one, she was fine. Dirty and a gross girl but otherwise she was totally fine. There were others of course, others in just as much trouble as Serena was a few moments earlier. Where was Dorothy and Laila and Marissa?
The first to be recovered would be Marissa North. Hand in hand, they were linked as long as Serena held onto her. She would not last long, there was no air. There was no space. There was at the very least a glimmer of hope. As long as Serena did not let go. But could Marissa hold on? The darkness, the fear and the panic would likely be overwhelming as her lungs burned for air. She would not be able to move, not able to fight. It would be a terrible feeling, this dependency. This... sense of powerlessness as a group of good samaritans took notice of her but she had no way of truly knowing.
A sliver of daylight as the earth was scooped away. They found something, it was Mari. Rough hands with haste would try to brush away the earth and pull her free. Two... Four... another pair. She would be yanked free.
Arthur thought he heard a scream, however he was just hearing things. No sound escaped from poor Dorothy's sandy grave. All the same the first year would dig. He would only find more sand, a now broken red phone and the occasional aspect of comfort that was once laid out in their hotel room.
Dig! Dig! Dig!
Dig or die.
It was only minutes that passed, but for those that could not breathe and those that continued to search in what would feel like vain... it would feel like hours. This protracted suffering. This fear mixed with dread. "There is another damn kid in here, I need some help!" some girl in a bikini that none of the girls in Hufflepuff would be allowed to wear for at least another 20 years shouted. She was only a few feet from where Arthur was digging. From the earth immediately adjacent he would pull the earth into the pit he had made hastening the recovery of the girl as a small group congregated around the crown of hair that was unburied and they dug around the poor victim. Her golden hair almost matched the sand she was buried in. The could not hear her screams, her mouth was filling with sand. Finally they would dig deep enough to clear the sand from her face, poor Lailaflora would finally be able to breathe a lungfull of dusty air. "Help me get the kid outta here!" One of the muggles shouted as they continued to dig, uncovering the girls's shoulders before two of the young girl's apparent saviors would be able to grip below the girls arms that were tightly pinned to her sides and yank her from the ground to freedom.
Dorothy would be next, they would not find her head but rather her leg first. Just this one pale chicken-like appendage. She might have been screaming but they could not hear her but they could see her moving or trying to move. She was still alive!
"Hey-hey!" An older man shouted. "I got another one!"
The girl went limp as they tried to uncover her. It was a presumption where whe was, but her body was twisted in an odd manner, pinned in place by the weight of the sand. They found her eventually, unconscious and pale but alive.... even if only barely.
"We need to do CPR!" A particularly rotund and sweaty teen declared, the insinuation being that he voluntered. That would be a memorable first kiss. Thankfully the girl would be saved by the same old man that found her leg and called upon the others to help uncover the Hufflepuff student.
"No, there is sand in her lungs, we need to clear her airway," he explained quickly with an assurance a man of his years would carry. No, he had never seen a girl buried alive beneath a collapsed sand castle but he understood the basic biology of air in and air out -- the presence of a barrier prevents the exchange of air. "Roll her onto her side," he instructed as he started to try to turn her over himself. Another member of the crowd would assist. With the palm of his hand he slapped her back hard more than once. She would have a massive bruise on her back, a mouthful of sand would fall out of her mouth in a muddy glob. Another hit and a cough would escape her lungs, with a subsequent inhale she would be breathing.
Conscious... maybe. That is really up to Dorothy one could suppose. Just don't nap too long, you might traumatize Serena again.

The room was made of ice, it was no suprise that the thin pane of "glass" that seperated the students from the chilly elements was also made from ice and quite fragile at that. When the window was opened, the 'glass' shattered. Reid was rebuked as the chill from the outside filled the room with these sub-freezing temperatures.
Marian was likely feelng anxious. Who wouldn't considering their strange situation. They had been... relocated. Kidnapping was a strong word, afterall how many dangerous kidnappers set their victims up in a fancy hotel room? No many, perhaps Solomon was a minority in this matter. Reid would force the window open
Riley pressed 0 on the phone. There would be a single ring before a bored voice on the other end would announce "Operator... how can I help you?" yes, she had gotten through to someone. It was justa voice on the other end of the phone but that would be Riley's potential lifeline.
"Reparo"
The former head boy announced as he tried to undo what he had done. The fragments of broken ice would seem drawn to the focal point, being the center of the fractured pane. Shard by shard, bit by bit the window would self-repair. It was a simple task truly, for once the boy might have even felt capable since he knew exactly what he had to do. It could have been worse, Reid could have caused the ice castle to collapse. It would have boded poorly for these students comparatively. Bricks of ice are not nearly as pliable as sand, but thankfully also not nearly as fragile.
His hands would feel as numb as his heart and soul. The temperatures outside were sub-freezing. That was of course Solomon's intent, to keep them trapped for an indeterminate amount of time in this isolated space. To keep them out of the way. To trap them for some sort of nefarious ends. To simply torture them. Not that anyone would believe it, but to save them.
Marian was looking for a way out. There was of course a door, there was a hall off to the right of this common room that would lead down a hall. A room immediately off to the side being a bathroom with a bidet. For those unfamiliar with such a thing, they would be in for quite a surprise but never feel quite so clean after using the facilities. There were beds. This was of nothing else an exceptionally expensive suite that these kids had no understanding of just how expensive this was. All they did was complain complain complain. Jeesh!
There would ultimately be a door that likely led into a hall.
As for anything else, a couple of other windows, all with a similar view of a snowy landscape. The solid wall behind them, a simple wall of ice with a single linear crack down the center. and a small puddle of water on the floor.

Would the train explode? No, probably not. In the movies everything exploded. It was a trope at this point. The train was smouldering from the magical conbustion cast by Professor Lear. The ground was scarred by the trainwreck, not many people got to say that they not only were in a trainwreck but they survived one as well. However, there was a new issue for the young girl to deal with. Where was she? Ami was somewhere between Hogwarts and someplace else, but she would have no idea exactly where that might be. The landscape offered little in terms of landmarks besides a meatier cow than the rest or a red barn that was painted a bit brighter than the next.
There was also the fact that she was buried beneath a pile of luggage. Yes, luggage. It was both a blessing and a curse, it cushoned her fall but it also pinned her to the site where she landed. There was also the fact that a few of the suitcases had been kncoked open in the resultant tumble and spill. The contents strews about the ground and amongst the scattered remnants of the luggage. Jock straps and socks... hopefully clean in regards to both. A stuffed animal that was about 5 years too juvenile for any passenger on this train.
She would fling a suitcase from off the top of her body. The leather case sprung open, a bunch of bananas fell out of the case. Who brings a case of bananas with them on a trip to... whever they were going. The destination became a lot less important now that the poor girl was climbing away from a wreck, half pinned beneath luggage. She would eventually claw herself free, likely questioning the strange contents inside some of these suitcases. Some felt as if they were filled with liquid. Some sounded as if a bunch of poolballs were allowed to roll freely inside a suitcase. Weird.
Her wand, where was it?
It was not in the pile of suitcases she had moved and it was not in her hand. She would scan the ground, that train did a lot of damage. No wand. It would not be found until she looked at the train. The smouldering, twisted metal. On the upturned car, wheels still turning ever so slightly she would see her wand on the ground beneath. To one side she would also notice something else that was odd. Sand blanketed the ground on one side of the car.
There is something about ambition, how it not only propels you but also defines you.
A Forgery of a Destiny
There's being observant and there's being oblivious. Now unluckily for Quinn he was an uneven mix of both. He was mostly observant, heck he was highly observant. However there would certainly be times in which he would be oblivious too. Especially when he got into one of his moods or states. So why was all of this important?
Well because there was a crack. Why is a crack important you may ask? Well that crack was in a bloody hotel made entirely of ice, and worse there was a puddle. A PUDDLE IN A BLOOMIN GODS FORSAKEN ICE HOTEL!!
Great this is just great! There's water there is feckin water in this feckin ice hotel. Gods what if it all starts to melt, what if it collapses and we get crushed,or drowned, or crushed and drowned!? Oh gods oh gods oh gods. This cannot be happening this is NOT HAPPENING! Dammit Reid and your stupid breaking the ice glass of a hotel made of ice! Now we are all gonna drown or get crushed!?! It was at this moment that he assumed the panic protocol.
First it was his eyes the greenish-blue gems were soley transfixed on the puddle and the crack. Unbeknownst to himself he was almost completely and utterly wide eyed. His lanky body that was covered by a fairly thick winter jacket, his dark faded jeans and favorite brown boots was trembling like a darn leaf. Next came the mumbling, "We're gonna drown, we'll drown and it'll be the end. We're surrounded by water it'll come down on us. This is it we're all dead." As he mumbled it gradually grew louder. As it all set in that he was surrounded by water in a solid state. He was even standing on it.
And now he was beginning to feel a bit claustrophobic. Finally the erratic breathing and eye movement set in. He suddenly collapsed on the floor curling up into a ball. He was trying his hardest not to think about it but that puddle set him off and he was on the verge of tears. It had never been this bad before but then again he was only ever surrounded on all sides by this much water once. His normally lanky and tallish body now looked incredibly small as he curled up tighter and tighter into a ball on the cold floor.
The mumbling continued and would not stop. Quinn was in total and utter freakout mode.
To fear the unknown is to fear progress, don't shy away from it. Embrace it and discover something new.
A Forgery of a Destiny
Being smart was obviously not one of the girl's strong suit. Neither was being strong or anything really. But she sure knew how to be a support system for other people. Without looking, she could just already feel how tense it was getting. Gosh, how much more cold could it get? After Marian had yelled at Reid for breaking the window, Frost, who apparently was the peacekeeper, turned to look at her before telling her that it was just a mistake, nothing to yell about. It was best to not have a bad attitude, but could she ever really have one?
Reid, after forcefully breaking the thin ice and getting yelled at, closed it back up with a mending charm. Just by closing up that damned opening it got at least a little bit less freezing. Frost gave herself a hug, trying to keep herself warm, as she walked around to see what the others were doing. If she couldn't be of any use, she would at least check up on everyone to see if they were okay. Riley was on the phone, all her life the redhead had learned not to disturb someone who was on the phone. So she simply smiled and moved on to Reid. "Don't worry, Reid. It's not your fault. It's just the ice being a bit too breakable." He too received a dimple-y smile from her.
Reassuring people oddly made herself feel better. In some weird way, she knew that if she could at least help someone feel better, or attempt to do so, it would help her stay herself. The brunette, Marian, had already been looking at her. "You good over there, Marian?" Before Frosty could even hear her answer, a panicked Quinn had an outburst, making her head snap in the direction of her wild-haired friend. "Wha- Quinn-"
What was he looking at? Following the direction of his eyes, she knew then and there what was wrong with him. A little puddle had formed at the little crack in the ice. It was so silly to her how such a measly puddle of water could make Quinn freak out like this. 'Ah, I see.' The ice melting thing was starting to become more and more real, the puddle being proof of that. With small, but quick, steps, Frost made her way to the boy, who was now curled up in a ball. Don't cry please, they both knew that once he did start it would be hard for him to stop. "Shh, Quinn. We're alright, we're not dead. Just-" Now she had gotten down onto the floor, sitting on her knees. Frost gently grabbed his shoulders with both of her hands, "Look, this place isn't going to melt as fast as you think, okay? There's still quite a bit of time."
Actions:
-Tell Marian not to yell at Reid
-Check up on everyone, make sure they are okay
-Try to calm Quinn down

A Forgery of a Destiny

Interactions: Serena Towers and Muggles.
Air. That is all she needed. Wanted. It felt as if her lungs were screaming, or was it burning? She did not know but that was the least of her worries, getting free was. But the longer she was stuck under there, the weaker she got. It was as if her life flashed before her eyes. Playing in the garden with Claryssa and James when they were toddlers. Flash. Sitting alone in her room, reading books about different types of animals. Flash. Her acceptance letter to Hogwarts, the bright smiles of her sister. Flash. Boarding the Hogwarts Express with Claryssa and waving goodbye to her parents and James. Flash. Dancing in the owl tower with James, laughing together. Flash. Claryssa. Laying in bed, pale and near-death. Flash. The funeral. Flash. The tears. Flash.
Hands lifted Marissa up. Was she dead? Were these the angles carrying her off to Heaven? At least she could see her sisters again. The bright light convinced her. But it was not Heaven. She was indeed alive. And brought back to screaming, crying and worried looking faces. The first thing Mari did after being saved by Serena and a bunch of strangers, throw up all the sand she accidentally swallowed. Not a pretty sight to see, but she could not help it. After getting her bearings, Marissa shot up into a sitting up position and quickly looked around. A beach? How did they get from Scotland to a sunny beach in such a small amount of time? Was she truly dead?
Marissa shook her head and looked to a worried crowd, Serena and fellow Hufflepuffs. Some were still stuck under, some where crying but some stupid people were recording or taking selfies. A plan started to formulate in Mari's head as she shakily stood up, trying to keep her cool. She could not crack now, after all of this was her fault. Mari looked down to Serena and helped her up before pulling her into a tight hug. "W-we need t-t-to get ev-everyone away f-from here. I'll e-explain more after ever-everyone is safe." Marissa quickly whispered into Serena's ear, making sure no one around them could hear. The others were slowly being dug out, so Marissa tried to shake all the sand out of her hair and off her face.
Actions: Hug and then whisper to Serena.

A Forgery of a Destiny
The suitcases around her were still on top of her, which she definitely didn't appreciate. A lot of them had burst open from the impact, too, and that was also kind of a big problem. A random assortment of items were strewn about, higgledy-piggledy and lying all over the place, giving Ami a snapshot into peoples' lives- things that were private and she felt that she had no right to look through. So, she averted her eyes and kept working her way through the luggage, pushing suitcases and duffle bags off of her until she was finally free of the luggage mountain she had been trapped under.
Chest heaving slightly, she shuddered as she looked around at the carnage she had caused. This was all her doing, this whole mess was her own fault... A pang of guilt started pounding at her chest, and Ami could feel tears pricking at the corners of her eyes. No. Absolutely not. You are NOT crying. Sniffing indignantly, she continued looking for her wand. She didn't have it, it wasn't in her pocket, and she hadn't seen it while moving all of those suitcases... Crap. No, no, no, no. This was her wand- the only thing that made her special, the only thing that differentiated herself from the general population of England.
Finally, she spotted it over by the creaking hulk of what was left of the train, and her heart dropped into her stomach. With a heavy, reluctant sigh, she started making her way through the piles and heaps of luggage, doing her best to avoid the scattered items and possessions of her fellow students. Reaching the train, she snatched the wand away as quickly as possible, revelling in the comforting, familiar weight in her hand. She inspected it for any possible damage, before casting a test spell just to make sure that, y'know, it still worked.
"Pluvia velo," was the first spell that came to mind- the Umbrella Charm, a strange charm that she had never thought to have any use unless it was raining outside. However, it was fairly easy to cast, so if her wand couldn't even bear this light burden, she was most definitely screwed.
And then she saw the sand. Sand, layered on the ground beneath the train- so the other room had sand. One with ice, one with sand... what was Lear's plan? To kill them all? Surely not. Why would he divide up the students and send them different ways, then? Didn't he know that was the fastest way to send them to their doom- by breaking them apart? A house divided was a house that would fall, or something like that... Lear was crazy, wasn't he?
Well, aren't you a little bit crazy too?
Stepping into the sand, she made her way over to the carriage the sand seemed to have spilled out of. If her wand cast the Umbrella Cast somewhat successfully, she would yell, "Wingardium leviosa!" and carefully point her wand at the siding of the carriage, trying to pry it back. If her wand exploded or totally failed, she would grab the siding of the carriage with both her hands, trying to pull it back as far as she could with whatever strength she had left.

Oh, Right. Magic.
Repairing the window would have been the obvious thing to do. It was like Marian forgot she was a witch. She blushed. Even if she had remembered about the repairing charm, she probably would've been to scared to use it. What if it didn't work? She would be embarrassed, that's what.
It was Frost, the peacekeeper. Marian couldn't blame her for being kind, the five of them were going to be stuck here for a while. A "season", as the scroll said. What did that mean? was it until Christmas? Yikes. That would be a long time."You good over there, Marian?"
Or, what if it was until spring? Even worse! They would celebrate Christmas, just the five of them.
Might as well get along.
Marian regretted yelling at Reid. He solved the problem, so she should apologize.
"Sorry," she said quickly.
She turned away and headed toward the door out of the common area. She looked to the side, and saw a bathroom. Other doors led to bedrooms. Where was the way out?
Marian thought of something, than turned back and poked her head out the door.
"Aren't we not supposed to do magic outside of school?"
Marian actually hoped an owl would come, then they would have some means of communication.

A Forgery of a Destiny
Interacts with Marissa, Dorothy and anyone in the sand area.
Serena released the breathe that she did not know she was holding as she saw Marissa's face. The girl got out of the sand and engulfed her in a hug. A sigh of relief escaped her as she returned the hug, as though the weight of the world had been lifted on her. She was far too young and insignificant to be carrying the weight of anyone, let alone the whole world. However, Serena had somehow adopted this idea that she needed to protect people. She needed to look after them and save them. And so far, she was doing a terrible job of it.
Who knows why she came to this conclusion. Perhaps it was her various roles in the school from Editor-in-Chief to Prefect to Head Girl throughout her time at Hogwarts. Perhaps it was the fact that she almost died in the first event they had and that her uselessness was a burden to everyone. Her actions almost got others killed too, who risked their lives to save her. Maybe she owed it to them. Maybe she was responsible for them now. Maybe she felt guilty. Who knows what it was but for some reason, Serena had this desire to protect them all.
She hugged Marissa tightly, almost missing her whisper as she was too busy thinking. The girl seemed to have a plan of some sort. "Yeah, let's get everyone and go." Serena had no idea what the plan was but she agreed as she did not have anything better right now, pulled away and looked around. Her eyes fell onto the other Hufflepuffs being pulled from the sand. Dorothy. The pureblood who Serena did not really get along with. But right now, that was not the thought in her head. Serena's eyes widened in panic. "Dorothy! Oi, wake up!!" She almost screamed at her as she rushed forward, kneeling down beside her as some man was hitting her hard on the back.
The look of worry and panic on Serena's face said everything it needed. She frowned as she looked around for the others. Everyone was a mess right now. And that was when it dawned on them...
They were surrounded by... muggles. Where the hell were there?! Were any of them going to be okay? Staring back down at Dorothy, leaving the muggle man to perform first aid as he seemed to have an idea what he was doing much better than she did, "You better get up, Shafiq." She warned the Hufflepuff in a tone she wanted to be menacing and scary enough to force the girl to get up, but the worry was evident in her voice and her eyes.
Come on... wake up, Dorothy... She quietly thought to herself.
Actions:
1. Agree to Marissa's plan
2. Try to wake Dorothy up.
