Closed Brave New Lions

“GRYFFINDOR!” roared the Sorting Hat allowing Siobhan to excitedly step off the stool, which was neary too small for her. The Gryffindor table roused with thunderous applause as their newest member rushed over to join the woods if red and gold ironically matching the laces in her hair that she’d stolen from her oldest brothers shoes. She’d have to write that to him specifically as he’d been pretty annoyed that he couldn’t find them the morning of her departure. Oh he’d been right mad he had, practically turning up the shoe rack as Siobhan breezed right by him reading one of her newly purchasd books, shoelaces hiding in her hair as hairties.

Siobhan couldn’t help but smile optomistically. Before she perched upon the stool with that tattered yet kind hat, she was simply a curious housecat. But now? The hat had restored her status to that of a brave little lion cub, destined to join the den of much stronger, more readily adapted lions. Sitting amongst them now, she found herself eagerly drawn to their chaos and chatter. It reminded her of her family dinners. Loud buzzing dinners with one thousand conversations taking place, yet one topic being discussed; “you are part of my pride”

Well, Siobhan’s inner voice said wistfully, This is your family now. Not that your family at home isn’t your family, but you have a whole world to explore on your own here and these Lions know the pridelands better Simbaaaaahhh

“Ooh The Lion King I love that movie…” She murmered to herself as she stared at her reflection curiously in the platters lined amonst the table runner. With her last name starting with M, she was somewhere smack dab straight in the middle of her first year peers. Siobhan’s eyes wandered around to the other tables, taking in their cooler tones compared to the glistening ruby color of the Gryffindor robes. She wondered if her own wardrobe would look strange when not decked out in the red and gold robes. Most of her clothes would mark her in any other house at first glance.

Oh boy, her thoughs were running wild, like rhe bees in a fruit field. Hopefully something would pop up in front of her to snack on soon. It had been so long since the train ride and boy was she starved.

“Like a lion” she giggled into her hand, increasingly more amused with herself as the sorting continued.
