Round the Outside
Crossing her arms to shield away the wind that was hitting against her, Bloom had a change in feeling that no matter what Reid was in the school, they would be the closest friends. He was the first friend not in Ravenclaw that she had met and she wanted to always stay close to him. She did not know why. She needed to be close to Reid. Was it because she still liked him? Well yes, she did, but that wasn't the reason.
She ignored the thoughts of needing to be close and squinted her eyes at the Hufflepuff, the wind growing a bit stronger. She did not want to go inside, at least not yet. She was enjoying her time out with Reid, even though it was an accident.
"Okay, whatever you say, boss," she teased, her smile bigger than ever. She knew that he would not want to be treated any differently. He was a classic gentleman who she figured out cared about what others thought. According to her sister, Claire, when she would tell a guy that she liked them, they wouldn't talk to her anymore. Reid was different. He couldn't bear Bloom hating him. Which was why they had such a wonderful conversation of putting their friendship back together in the library a couple days ago.
Bloom walked up to Reid after he confessed her nervousness for his position. She opened her arms and wrapped them around his waist, giving him a tight, friendly hug. "You're going to be great as Head Boy," she said, and she looked up to him, another smile on her face.
As she was about to let go, she heard something coming from behind the green house. Bloom looked in that direction, but was unable to see anything. Was it another note? she thought. No, this seemed different. It sounded like.... footsteps! Bloom held onto Reid tighter. She was scared about what would be coming their direction, or even worse, what was perhaps hunting them. Bloom tried to reach for her hand located in her right skirt pocket. Her arm wouldn't budge. She held onto Reid even tighter in fear.

The boy burned a little at the hug, but his hand came up to pat and slightly rub her back in his signature awkwardness. He knew if Ben saw him, he'd be hanging by his toes by now. Reid didn't want to pick fights, yet Bloom was too much of a sweet person for him to deny her hugs. "I appreciate those wo - "
He stopped talking when he felt Bloom freeze, what was wrong? The rustling that followed after had him tense up in slight fear along with the Prefect. What was that? His mouth went dry and his mouth had gone slightly ajar, his breathing suddenly ceased for the moment. The rustling suddenly stopped as his wand had slightly moved up. A flutter of wings and the sound of squawking filled the air as a murder of crows took flight in quick succession.
"B-birds, just birds." he nervously spoke. His shoulders fell and he glanced at the vice grip around his waist, any tighter and she'd be able to pull him in half. He sucked some air through his pursed lips and placed his hands on her arms. "I think you're about ready to divide me in two, Bloom." Reid snickered, prying her arms from him. He stepped back once to fix his cardigan, the rest of his attire wasn't exactly in shape anymore.
He didn't even know why he had his wand up as if he was going to catch a spell, he didn't know any that well. His white knuckled grip caused his hand to hurt and his wand was pushed into his pocket. Doting on whatever that thing was might just land them in the Medical Wing or worse. He motioned the Prefect to follow him, they weren't done - at least he wasn't.
"I don't want to stay any more, so let's keep going?" Reid suggested, motioning towards a huge willow tree. He'd follow after her, suddenly more alert and awake of the dangers that lurk. Hogwarts felt safe so far, but now it felt like something else was upon them.

Bloom felt the pressure of Reid pulling her off. She hadn't noticed that she was squeezing him so tight that he was unable to breathe. Bloom was very focused on what could be behind the green house, that she did not even feel the cold wind, nor Reid ushering her to move away from the Herbology grounds.
She was like ice. She didn't know any spells to attack or defend herself. She didn't know what kinds of creatures even lived near or in the Forbidden Forest. Classes had just started and there was no pre-homework and learning to look into. Her mouth dry from her mouth being open from fear, she finally heard Reid call out to leave the area. Bloom, her gaze still fixed in the area, nodded.
Taking a deep breath, Bloom turned around to meet with Reid to leave, and immediately she shifted her head back to the green house. The noise happened again! It sounded like leaves rustling. She felt like crying... What could it be? Bloom slowly walked in front of Reid.
Maybe it's just the wind blowing the leaves. Nothing to be scared of, she calmed herself down and looked at Reid with a small smile. Perhaps that would calm him down, too. She began to walk, her head looking ahead of her. As they went up the stairs towards the grounds where there was a willow tree, the rustling was sounding again, but this time, louder.
"Reid... What was that spell again? For light? Umos? Limos...," she asked softly, now feeling the pressure that perhaps they were not alone.

Round the Outside
A barely visible plume mingled as the boy heavily sighed, his scarf could only do so much to keep him warm. His cardigan wasn't doing much for him and he was ready to go inside. A nice sit in front of the Hufflepuff fireplace should be more than enough. His eye blinks past the tears from the dryness in his eyes, the gust was doing a number on him. "Lumos." he corrected with amusement.
Reid's hearing wasn't as good as Bloom's, that was until he heard the sound of something scurrying. His breath hitched, he was trying to find the Gryffindor in him. Were they actually in danger? Concern wrote itself all over his features, the lines on his forehead hard as he got closer towards the willow tree. He found the tree to be quite pretty, it had an imposing stature that scared him though.
Reid stopped, a short distance away from Bloom as he pulled his wand out. He spoke the spell Lumos and the tip of his wand came alive with a small light. He waved it about, looking for anyone that might hiding in the area. Suddenly a sharp hiss, similar to a sizzling, came into earshot and his head whipped up to the noise.
Multiple legs thumped against the dirt floor and it seemed to be closer to Bloom than anything. "Hey ..." The light at the end of his wand died as his concentration faded and he started towards back the Prefect. That was until a loud creaking behind him came alive, like a ship in the sea. The willow that was once still now began to move towards them.
Out of the foliage was the shadow of a darkened creature, medium in stature but it had a lot of legs. It must've been a spider, but it was coming after his friend and not him. Its eyes seemed to glow with a rabid fury from the underneath the moonlight. Its hisses were like miserable shrieks, as angry as a banshee from the depths.
All the while, one of the willow's arms descended towards the ordeal - ready to inflict punishment on one of them. "Bloom! Run!" he shouted, darting towards the Prefect. His heart had begun hammering in his chest, he had no spells to repel that monstrosity. It bounded towards the girl, fangs ready as if it had not eaten for days.

Oh that's right. Lumos!
Bloom grabbed her wand said the incantation. Nothing happened. "Lumos!" she tried again, but nothing happened. Bloom was lacking the concentration needed for the spell. Her mind was lost in figuring out what was happening. She then saw a flicker of light coming from Reid's wand and saw exactly what was coming after them.
Three, no ten, maybe twenty eyes were staring at them from close by. It was moving gracefully, scurring across the ground. Bloom quickly looked at how it was moving. It had many legs. Holy crap, it's a spider..., she thought. Bloom felt as though she was frozen. She did not know what to do. Reid was already ahead of her and here she was, moments away from the spider.
What do I do? I don't know any spells? Do I just fight it with my hands? I could use my wand. Why won't my feet work? Is this it for me? Am I never going to see my family again? What about Ben? Felicity? Reid...
Her ears rang with Reid's command to run. Hearing his voice, she found the power to move. Bloom began to turn around, to run away from the spider and towards Reid who was near the willow tree. The minute she took a step, the spider's sharp leg had pierced her stomach resulting in Bloom falling to the ground.
"AHHHHHHHH!" she screamed in pain. The spider began to crawl closer towards her, fangs moving up and down, and Bloom began to panic. She was in excruciating pain and the spider's leg still pierced through her stomach area. She could feel the pressure of the wound. What was she to do? Bloom could either fight back or let the spider consume her. Her heart was beating faster and faster. She held her wand at a fist and with all her might, stuck the tip of her wand into one of the spider's eye.
The spider shrieked. Taking the wand out, she did it again and again, until finally the spider took its leg out of hers and crawled a few feet back. Bloom quickly got up from the ground the best that she could, clutching her stomach, and made her way to Reid.
Her pain numbing, Bloom felt tired. What's happening? she asked herself. She began to feel a bit colder than before, but she kept her pace towards the Head Boy. Only to find out that the tree was not any ordinary tree. It was moving and it did not look happy that we were close to it.
"Reid!" Bloom cried, knowing that she was not fast enough to move away from such a situation. She heard more scurrying behind her and it seemed that the spider was coming back for Bloom. She tried to run as fast as she could, but the spider was catching up.
Looking above her, she saw a thick branch of the willow coming towards her. The amount of panic and blood that she was losing, she began to feel faint. Bloom, exhausted and in pain, fell to the ground and the willow's branch missed her by an inch and squashed the spider behind her.
"Reid...," she whispered, calling for his help and her eyes had closed.

It was a new feeling, raw and utter fear from seeing his friend get attacked. He almost faltered if not for the fact that his brain was acting on instinct. It was like the time he got chased by a dog, it was surely going to maul him and yet he was able to get away that one time. Would he able to get away this time? But seeing her fall had him scream her name, "Bloom!"
She was going to get killed if he just stood there. But Bloom - no he couldn't leave Bloom. It was a momentary lapse in judgement and confidence, he needed to help his friend. At least the spider was gone, but now it was the tree he was worried about. It had brought his courage back and he ran even faster to get to the Prefect's side.
He heard the creaking of the willow's branches, it was pulling back for another round and he knew who it was aiming for. Reid skidded to a stop beside Bloom, his arms slightly struggling to encircle her frame. The moonlight thankfully gave him enough light to see the arms of the tree swiping towards their direction.
The boy ducked, pressing himself to the dewy grass below beside the fallen student. He sucked in his breath as he felt the WHOOSH of the large branch above and a stray branch hitting his head, taking with it a flurry of leaves. Reid took this moment to take Bloom, his feet nearly buckling under him from the fright.
All he was running on was pure nerves and an unwavering will to not die, but he wasn't exactly a lifter and was already struggling with Bloom. He bounded down the path with Bloom, stopping a ways to fall on his knees. He looked over his shoulder and watched the tree assume its natural form. His body ached, his chest felt tight and he felt like he was going to puke.
Small scratches on his head stung from the branch that whacked him as the arm passed, but it wasn't as bad as Bloom. Tears welled up in the corner of his eyes as he remembered how badly injured she was, he was still just reeling back from it all. The boy nearly dropped the Prefect as he moved her to look at her wound. He needed to get her to the hospital wing, plus he doubt staying out here would be safe anymore.

"No, Bloom, you have to share with your little sister," a woman's voice told a smaller version of Bloom. Bloom pouted and hugged the toy harder. "NO! Mine!" she screamed. The woman, her mother, grabbed Bloom's toy and gave it to the baby girl, her sister, Bella. Bloom, tears forming and falling from her eyes, walks away and sits in the corner, watching her younger sister play with her toy and her mother, and her older sister, Claire, converse with her father. Bloom felt alone.
~~~
The eyes of an acromantula begin to take over her mind. The leg of the creature stabbing her stomach. She was alone on the ground.
One by one, Bloom began to remember moments in her life where she had really delved into her mind. She was unaware of her consciousnesses and could only hear all that was happening. She could hear Reid's voice, his breathing. She began to think of Reid.
"Bloom...," a voice started to speak. It sounded familiar, like a boy's voice she knew. "I like you as a friend, not in the way I think that you like me." There was a pause. "I'm sorry." She pictured him leaving.
No, it was different now. They were friends. Why was she thinking of that now? Why was she thinking of this moment? Bloom then thought about Ben, her boyfriend. Where was he? Was he near? Did he know what was happening to her?
"I'm sure whoever he is, he would be crazy not to like you back." she heard another voice, familiar, but different from the other one. "I don't need a minute. I like you too."
Bloom slowly opened her eyes, her body numb and cold from the blood that she was losing. She was shivering. She could feel the closeness of someone near her. She began to forget who was with her. "Ben?" she asked aloud. "Ben, don't leave me. Please don't leave me," she said softly again, her words at a soft whisper. "They all left me. Reid left me," she muttered ever so slightly. Her eyes closed again.
Round the Outside
The stillness of the night returned, his breathing and the beating of his heart thundered in his ears like hooves. Reid blinked through his tears, trying not to cry at how painful it was. He was pushed around before, but a newfound sense of fear was different and it was a little overwhelming. Still, the young man sucked in his breath and relaxed as he suddenly looked down at the Prefect.
She called a name, but it wasn't his. Maybe she was confused from what had happened, it seemed that she fell pretty hard. 'Reid left me'. A soft sigh escaped him, his heart wrenching at the sentence. Did he really? Is that what she really thought of him? Maybe he really didn't know how to gauge his peers. His dirt covered face scrunched into a frown, a little disheartened at the realization of it.
It bothered him more than he thought it would, leaving him some time to lament a little. "Did I?" he croaked hoarsely, looking out towards the grounds. She was out and there were more important things to worry about than this. Yet he felt powerless, a wizard with no wizarding skills. Felicity had gotten hurt the other days before and he also had no way of stopping it.
The boy felt like a curse in some ways more than a friend, people around him seemed to get hurt either physically or emotionally. A grim look overcame his features, his face stricken as if he had a malady. This wasn't the time though, he could be sad another time. Reid carefully tried to pick himself up, failing the first time due to his exhaustion. The adrenaline that ran through his small frame was wearing off, leaving a frame that could only rely on pure mental will for power.
He grunted, picking up the girl as he started walking back towards Hogwarts Castle. He felt angry, mad at Bloom for saying that, mad at himself for all of this, mad at his parents for sending him to Hogwarts, and it all just made him even more tired. He was ready to crawl into bed, sleep and wake up another day. The bitterness will subside like white noise, untouched and yet present. Tomorrow, he can forget this.
