❂《 ⌜ November 18, 2023 ▎ Sometime in the Afternoon ⌟▛▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔Who would've thought it would turn out this way. She should've left when she could earlier when she wasn't feeling like it but she still said yes to a duel. How could she say no to a duel really. It's a habit of hers to just accept, even if they are from older students. In a way, guess she had put herself into this situation. As a duelist, her pride had been torn by this loss but is she gonna let that show, no, at least, she'll try.
Since when did she have a good duel though? After that official one, she was slowly getting tired and so tuned out of dueling yet she still found herself returning to the dueling club. She has to, she needs to, she has her own reasons for pursuing it even though it was slowly getting clearer to her that maybe, the sport wasn't for her. Maybe they were right and she's just in denial right now but of course, she's not gonna admit that. She'd like to think that she could still be good at it after all, despite all the failures while continuing down this difficult path.
After that horrible performance, Raizel found herself being helped out by the Ravenclaw girl that she still doesn't know the name of but knows her for some reason. Did she ever get her name? Maybe during the duel? She can't remember and it'd be rude to ask her. Ah, she'll try to remember it later. Maybe that'll help in distracting her from a lot more awful thoughts. The other person helping her was Alyssea.
Moving was a pain and the relief on her face was visible when she finally got to lay down on a bed, making her sigh like a lot of weight had been lifted from her. "I could just sleep right now…" she muttered as she buried her face on that soft pillow. Maybe she can and they'll just treat her while she's sleeping. Now, the question is, how should she face the other two. A smile that tells everything is alright? Perhaps.
Slowly she turned her head towards them, a tired smile showing on her face. "Thanks." Gotta show appreciation to those who help out right? "Hopefully, I'll be alright in a while. Magic medicines are brilliant." She chuckled weakly due to the aches the spells had caused.

Carrying Raizel from one floor to the next was a challenge in and of itself, unsurprisingly. At least Alyssea's healing spell had given the girl enough energy to also carry herself and Rebecca was helping. This was the second time Alyssea was actively in the hospital wing, the first being in the official duels around a week ago and they were in a similar situation. Raizel was in the bed and Alyssea was standing by.november 18th, 2023; interacting with @Raizel Voltrouz and @Rebecca Lark
Of course, her measly healing spell wasn't as helpful as whatever the nurse cooked up for Raizel. She was looking miles better than when they had come out of the piste.
Alyssea chuckled. "Sleeping would probably be good for your body, but I think our nurse here would like to have you in your dorm rather than sleep here." She turned to Rebecca who was also recovering from Raizel's own spells, though to a lesser extent. The little First Year wasn't set on fire or dancing until she was dead.
"Do you want me to bring you anything from the Great Hall?" Alyssea asked to them both, though it might not have been very obvious, "I imagine you're hungry." Alyssea's stomach grumbled quietly. In a short period of time, she had physically exerted herself more than she realized.

𝓛uckily, Raizel wasn't all that heavy. Less luckily, the hospital wing was so far away, or it least it felt like it after one had gone toe-to-toe with Raizel Voltrouz. Bex's everything hurt, and when she got back to the Ravenclaw dorms she was going to sleep for at least a week.
Once they'd made it to the hospital wing, Raizel had flopped face down into the nearest available bed, her face smushed in the pillow as she murmured about going to sleep there. And to be honest, same. Bex stifled the urge to pet the older girls hair like her mom would do for her when she was sick or sulking. She imagined that wouldn't be very well received from a near-stranger.
"Sleeping would probably be good for your body, but I think our nurse here would like to have you in your dorm rather than sleep here." Alyssea said, and Bex couldn't help but agree. The hospital wing was rather lively at the moment, with a smattering of both injured students and their visitors, which she supposed wasn't too surprising. Typical Saturday afternoon at Hogwarts, she imagined. "Yeah, I don't think we'd get very good sleep here anyway." Bex replied.
Bex could only hope that Raizel was right about the efficacy of magical medicine, as Raizel looked about ready to keel over again, and Bex wasn't too far behind her. Raizel was smiling though, so she couldn't be too badly off. Bex threw her a quick thumbs up to indicate that she was hale and whole as well. Which was like, 65% true and therefore not a lie.
She shook her head in response to Alyssea's question vis a vis dinner. "No thanks, I don't think I could keep anything down right now." The duel had esentially played whack-a-mole with her emotions, and the adrenaline crash was hitting her pretty fiercely. Her main goal right now was to convince her body that death was no longer imminent and it could safely settle down now.
"That was maybe the scariest thing I've ever done. How can you do that all the time? Why do you do that all the time?" She asked Raizel, turning to face where the Gryffindor girl was reclining on the hospital bed. Bex, god willing and the creek don't rise, would be perfectly happy to never ever do this again.
OOC: Bex, with her 4 wis: Raizel is smiling, which means that everything is fine

❂《 ⌜ November 18, 2023 ▎ Sometime in the Afternoon ⌟▛▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔With Raizel so beaten up, even the noise and chatter in the Hospital Wing wouldn't stop her from just passing out and sleeping but Alyssea is right, she should sleep once she is back in their dorm. More peaceful and she'll get better rest than here. It looked rather busy with people somehow finding ways to get hurt. Like she's an exemption though for here she is, awaiting treatment after a practice duel.
She repositioned herself on the bed, a visible wince on her face when she did so. Her body is still aching so bad but she needs to keep a strong image, thus the smile. Deep inside though, she wanted to scream out of pain, both physically and emotionally. "I am a bit hungry…" Raizel uttered as she just realized that she too needed some food energy. "But I think my body is already telling me to just sleep it off." She chuckled and tried sitting up and even that was a struggle. "Are you hungry?" She asked Alyssea before turning her head towards the Ravenclaw girl.
Her name remained to be lost within her mind if she had forgotten about it. Her question however made Raizel think. How and why indeed. What was she trying to accomplish? That made her look away, scratching her head as she tried to think for an answer. She doesn't know either. "Well, dueling is fun I suppose. It's thrilling, exciting but yeah, it sure does hurt a lot. I'm surprised at how I could keep going myself." She answered before letting out a soft laugh. "The other probably just because of the fighting experience." If one dreams to become an Auror, they would need all the experience they could get, especially dueling experience. That's probably why losses hurt so much for her too. It felt like she was not improving at all.
That was the original reason behind her pursuit for dueling. The others were she just wanted to shoot spells and the new one would be to prove herself that she too could do it. Would she tell them that though? No. That's something she'll keep to herself. "Probably not the answer you are looking for huh." The girl added in the end.

Alyssea listened as the middle person in the conversation. But she took a minute to ponder Rebecca's question for herself. Why duelling? Why did she do it often?november 18th 2023; interacting with @Raizel Voltrouz and @Rebecca Lark
The first time she encountered sports was at summer camp after her first year. She watched a few matches and figured broom racing was interesting enough. It was on her agenda to sign up to the team when the school year started again. Then, she met Zach on the train and they chatted about sports, moreso Alyssea asking about duelling. Then, he offered to be her first duel.
She signed up to both broom racing and duelling after that with a preference for racing. But alas, she ended up on the duelling team first. Not that Alyssea minded, of course. Duelling was beginning to be one of her favourite pastimes. She loved practicing spells she'd learned in class and applying it into real situations of danger. She enjoyed the adrenaline rush of dodging and trying to battle it out. But now that she was also a racing co-captain, the yearning for the skies had grown.
Alyssea had to agree with Raizel's points. Duelling was, indeed, thrilling. Alyssea cleared her throat. "It's also good practice for spells. Kind of like exam revision every other week."
"Do you do any sports?" Alyssea asked the curly-haired girl. "Don't think you're on Ravenclaw duelling... And I know you're not on the racing team either..." She thought back to the first ever race of the year. Yup, this girl definitely wasn't a racer.

𝓢he found herself unable to hide her small grimace at Raizel's proclamation that dueling was fun, and Alyssea's opinion that it was just like exam revision (which was enjoyable to her, apparently.) Both of the other girls were older than her, and it was clear that their prolonged exposure to the shining jewel that was the Hogwarts education system had addled their brains far past the point of no return.
"I don't think dueling is really that fun for me. And exam revision is definitely not fun." She replied. "I am on one of Ravenclaw's sports teams though, just not dueling or racing; I'm on the Quidditch team. I'm the second string beater."
Now Quidditch was fun. Even with Ravenclaw having lost the last match as horrendously as they had, it had been fun. Well, up until she had been knocked unconscious, but ships in harbor and all that. She wished that she could elect to stop going to classes all together and could just stay up in the air full time. Dueling hadn't made her feel anything like Quidditch though; both were an adrenaline rush, sure, but dueling felt like trying to find your way out of a cave without a lantern. And the cave had like, zombies and stuff.
Quidditch just felt like living.
She looked at the other two girls, weighing their words on the subject carefully. While Bex had not enjoyed most of this past hour, something had felt different about the way her magic responded to her. In class, trying to will her magic into any usable shape usually felt like trying to get water from a stone. But during her duel with Raizel, it had answered her call every single time, no questions asked. She wasn't sure what to make of it.
She played with the string of her hoodie nervously while she considered how to word her question. "Does magic feel different to you when you're dueling? Different than when you use it for other things?"

❂《 ⌜ November 18, 2023 ▎ Sometime in the Afternoon ⌟▛▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔Quidditch she says. To be honest, Raizel doesn't know a lot about Quidditch despite its popularity. Her father seems to like it but she can't seem to get into the sports herself. Perhaps it's like what this Ravenclaw girl feels with duelling when she said it wasn't fun. Why did she ask for a duel though if she knew that it wasn't for her?
Curiosity, that is the only reason she would do something that she didn't find fun. Maybe she could do the same with Quidditch, find people to teach her then maybe she'll actually enjoy it. Although, she doubts that it would be enough to make her shift sports but who knew really. Considering how she's doing so bad with duelling, other sports might just be it for her. Then again, she can't quit, she won't quit, ever.
A strange question was then asked, making Raizel ponder about it far longer than she had expected. Does it feel different? "Well… I guess it does…" she uttered, closing her eyes and crossing her arms, thinking for a couple of seconds and recalling the sensation she has in every duel that she had participated in. "Somehow they feel a lot more powerful than when just practicing… and scarier but other times, you'll feel like they are far weaker." She looked between the two girls. "Weaker when you're feeling scared and stronger when you keep your will strong."
Not like it could be the case with other people but that was how it goes with her when it comes to magic and spells, especially when she's in a duel. "Did it feel that way to you guys?" She returned a question to the others, curious on what they think about it.

Alyssea was right; this girl was not a duellist or a broom racer. A Quidditch player, though? That one was a bit hard to gulp down. Then again, some of the most innocent-looking people turned out to be the most violent. No, she did not have a specific name in mind, but she was sure those people existed out there.november 18th 2023; interacting with @Raizel Voltrouz and @Rebecca Lark
As for magic, they felt the same to Alyssea. When she cast spells in class, it felt like the magic was still detached from her, but the energy was there. In duelling and racing, though, magic burst through her but was still very much detached. The thing that made them feel close was the adrenaline. Being at the height of your emotions tend to do that, she figured.
Alyssea shrugged. "It feels the same for me. Maybe it's because I didn't grow up with it too much."
A half-blood raised in the Muggle world, she was. Despite having two magical parents, magic was a small thing and nothing noteworthy. Simply put, it existed when her parents needed it but it wasn't a necessity. "I prefer to do a lot of things without magic, anyway. Feels more rewarding when you finish a task."
