Hufflepuff vs Gryffindor: Match 5
When Aries greeted her teammates, Nicky waved back to her with an encouraging smile. She was fully intent on kicking some butt. However, the beginning of the duel didn't go exactly as planned. Nicky was wondering why Aries froze up but it wasn't surprising. The noises of the duel could be a lot for the newbie. Nicky was just hoping that Aries wasn't going to freeze up for the rest of it. There was a lot at stake, after all.

Hufflepuff vs Gryffindor: Match 5
It didn't start off brilliantly. Both Lucia and Jake missed their spells, and Lea didn't even manage to cast hers. "Oh, for Merlin's sake," Lucia muttered as a jet of wind hit her square on, and she struggled to keep her arm steady. At least the other team hadn't had complete success; the blindfold directed at Lea didn't entirely cover her eyes, Jake dodged out of the way of the other jet of wind shot at the Hufflepuffs, and one of the Gryffindors didn't even attempt to do anything. It could be worse.

Hufflepuff vs Gryffindor: Match 5
Jake muttered silently to himself as his spell sailed past his opponent. He must've been rusty...or maybe she was just quick. He didn't have much time to think about it though as he side-stepped a wind jinx. After, he looked to the side and saw his team-mates hadn't been quite so lucky. It wasn't going so very well for the Hufflepuffs right now, but it wasn't the first time that had happened.
It was difficult facing three opponents instead of two. All the rules of strategy that Jake had learned went out the window, and all his instincts no longer held weight. There were a lot of new things to think and worry about. When the pressure got worse, when the duel went longer and things descended into chaos, he hoped they'd all be able to stay organized. He eyed the Gryffindors trying to figure out just who to aim for...and who might be aiming for him

aries watched nicky wave back to her, and grinned slyly. gonna be beating them! GRYFFINDOR! aries yelled, and then laughed with her new friends and team mates. aries had to work hard to win. hard to play as well, for it was her first march and she wasnt losing it. she relaxed her muscles and got ready.

Cassius had not expected to be moderating a duel today. Today was to be the day he was to be a spectator, cheering on and offering advice for his team from the sidelines. However, when Robin needed to step away he was glad to offer his support and fill-in as the substitute moderator.
The duel was already well underway by the time he approached the stage. The Hufflepuffs and Gryffindors were already locked in fierce battle with both teams still at their full strength. A quick survey of the field revealed few injuries, at least that he could see. Jake was on the offensive, casting a jinx at Elsa that did not hit its mark. Lucia had taken up a defensive posture and cast Protego. Meanwhile, Lea seemed focused on removing the blindfold that had wrapped around her head.
On the Gryffindor side of things, Aries had also taken up a defensive posture, appearing to forego casting a spell in favor of increased evasion should any spells come her way. The other two duellists on the team were on the offensive, both opting to cast spells at their opponents. Unfortunately for them, that did not appear to go to plan. Cassius was not sure if one caused the other but Elsa's wind jinx backfired at the same time Kim was casting a knockback jinx that redirected itself towards Elsa. It could have been much worse for the Gryffindors.
For his part, Cassius had little to comment on aloud. He preferred to remain a silent judge watching over the proceedings with a focused gaze that followed the action. He was there to moderate, not provide colorful commentary, and he took the task seriously.

At least that was what it might look like to their opponents. But at the last second, she ended up dodging. Dodging a spell that never came in her direction. Still, Aries was doing pretty well for a rookie. She'd made it past the first few rounds. As Lucia cast a spell on herself, Kim cast the spell he'd developed a nickname for (Flipendo Prince), at Lea, who was currently blindfolded at the time. Unfortunately, his chaotic mental state seemed to have caught up with him on this particular spell. As a result, it ended with his spell going wild, heading over in Elsa's direction. Thankfully, it ended up missing her, which was a stroke of luck for the two. During this time, Lea managed to remove her blindfold, which was a shame. Kim would have liked to have hit her with a spell beforehand, but it seemed as if luck with not with them in that aspect. Jake's spell missed Elsa, the boy having gone after Elsa too. At the same time, Elsa was hit by her own spell, and Kim's brow furrowed. Maybe his earlier impression before the duel had started was right... maybe he was cursed now. They hadn't been hit by their opponents spells, only their own. Kim started getting lost in his own thoughts. What point was there - Kim stopped the thought before it had a chance to go further. He couldn't be so negative right now. It would be detrimental to the duel he was in at the moment. The most basic rule of dueling was to keep your wits about you at all times. Don't get distracted by other thoughts... |

Nicky was slightly disappointed that all of their spells had backfired that round but she knew they could do better. She has to stay positive for her house and her teammates. They were going to rock this match if they just focused on their goal and went for the win.

Hufflepuff vs Gryffindor: Match 5
Two spells supposed to be headed her way and Lea didn't even have to think about dodging. Strange how that worked out.
The change of a moderator was unexpected but not particularly unusual, nor would it take up much of the Hufflepuff's focus as she remained with only one eye able to see anything. It seemed best to take care of that first and so she would, stance ready just in case yet arms reaching up behind her head to focus on undoing the knot or loosen the cloth enough to uncover the other eye. It wasn't a particularly difficult task, especially when- as mentioned before- no spells headed her direction. One seemed to by the middle Gryffindor yet soon veered off course to target a fellow Gryffindor and the other only got the wand pointed at her before the spell backfired to send gusts of wind at the Gryffindor instead. It was- a rather unfortunate round if Lea had been spectating, but their misfortune benefitted the Hufflepuff at the moment so she was glad luck and skill had taken such a course. But they were practically back to square 1 which meant: what was next?

aries dodged, running aepund, watching as multicolored spells flared at her. she laughed with her teammates quite sure she would win. are any of my fellow gryffs in the bleachers? my friends would cheer for me right? reese thought, still actively dodging. she put up a slow smile that spread acrpss her face, making her hot skin turn slightly pink, making her blush. were they winning? aries couldn't tell just yet, but she did know that she was trying her best and hardest. it was still only really her first ever duel.

In a moment of panic that she was about to be targeted by not two, but three Gryffindor duellists, Lucia produced a well-cast shield charm that proved to be utterly useless. Only two other spells were cast correctly, and both missed. In fact, Kim's spell only narrowly missed the older Gryffindor, who in turn managed to cast a Ventus that backfired upon herself. Could've gone worse, Lucia thought.
