From Prey, to Predator.
He was always scared of something. Scared of the bright sun that threatened to give him sunburn, scared of the stairs that he needed to traverse. Scared of the professors that taught him and the fellow students that learned alongside him. But the fear made sense, to the boy. It wasn't just odd paranoia to him. It had both rhyme and reason behind it. The world he saw was twisted and dark. The lessons he had learned were paradoxical, and twisted. But he always managed to survive, just barely. He hid from the death witches, from those who could do him harm. And he wrote it all down.
He recorded everything, he recorded how he thought they could be killed. The boy had a friend, a single friend that was far stronger than he was. And that single friend had needed help that the ravenclaw didn't know how to give. He offered martial assistance, when all she needed was a friend to lean against. And so it eventually led to her looking at him with fear. And that fear too was misunderstood.
But the boy was hardly aware of most of this. He only knew that evil was everywhere, and he had to help his friend, any way he could. But his own instinct to survive got in the way time and time again. They found him, time and time again. What was he supposed to do, anyway? He was of no use to his friend dead. And so many things seemed to want him that way. So he hid, and he ran, and he filled in his little book. Bit by bit.
There was a spot, by the edge of the grounds that the young boy used to frequent, but hadn't in a long, long time. It was concealed by bushes, and was a bit around the back of a tree. He wasn't sure what was telling him to revisit his old haunt, but something was. And so he went. The air felt colder than it was, due to a sharp breeze, so he was happy to crawl under the bush.
But after he did, he soon realized that he was not the only one to know about it. there was a sliver of metal stuck in the tree like a pin, with a tattered, wet piece of parchment that used to be part of a page someone had stuck to the tree, before the elements or someone had torn it off. And underneath it, there was a small box. He was careful, opening the box slowly before realizing that all it contained was a silky smooth cloak. Thin and lightweight, and glossy like water.
He slipped out of the bushes with the cloak, entirely freaking out. Pupils expanding into amorphous puddles of ink and finger twitching. To avoid the wind, he slipped on the cloak as he headed back towards the castle, looking down at himself briefly only to find nothing. He was invisible.

From Prey, to Predator.
Trees had always been Amanda’s favorite, with their sturdy trunks and twisting branches. When her family used to vacation in the Appalachian Mountains, she and her brother Johnny would spend most of the days in the forest, running and climbing trees to their hearts’ content. Those were happy, simpler days; when they still lived in the U.S. and Amanda’s parents hadn’t told her about magic yet.
Truth be told, Amanda missed the States. She often wondered what life would be like if she had received her letter from Ilvermorny instead of Hogwarts, or she had just been born into a Muggle family instead. And as spectactular and exciting as the U.K. was, it still wasn’t home to Amanda.
As she meandered about the grounds, Amanda came to the conclusion that perhaps the move was for the better. I’m sure that I’ll adjust just fine eventually, she told herself, kicking a pebble across the lawn. And besides, didn’t most Americans dream of living in England?
Amanda lifted her gaze to see that she had arrived at the base of a tree. Huh. There were several bushes around it, forming some sort of hideaway. She grabbed a low-hanging branch and pulled herself up, slowly but surely scaling the tree. When she reached a sturdy branch near the top, Amanda sat on top of it, letting her legs dangle in the air. She closed her eyes, smiling, and let the soft breeze swirl across her face.
Her peaceful moment was interrupted by a rustling in the bushes below. She opened her eyes and looked down, craning her neck to try to get a glimpse of what was down below, but the shrubbery blocked her view. The rustling stopped for a minute and Amanda relaxed. The rustling began again and Amanda peered down, waiting for whatever it was to show itself and leave its cover. But even when the rustling stopped, nothing came into view. Amanda frowned and dropped down from the tree, peeking into the hideaway. “Hello?” She called out cautiously. When she didn’t see anything, she began walking back towards the castle, eager to get away from whatever was lurking around those bushes.
“Oh, I may be on the side of the angels, but don't think for one second that I am one of them.”

From Prey, to Predator.
This was his chance, his chance to strike down the threat and to protect himself. The best defense was to kill off the aggressors before they could attack you, right? And she wouldn't be able to see him, he couldn't see himself. Unless, of course, the name wraith had seen him as he put it on, and knew where he was. Then he wouldn't have the element of surprise any longer.
Name wraith, a level 6 death witch, and one of the most depraved and relentless. She would follow you to the ends of the earth just to strip away whatever you held most dear. One day, she was going to die by his hands. Or, really, by anyone's hands. Or by natural causes. The boy wasn't picky, so long as she ended up dead. He was moving towards her as quietly as he could, invisible, difficult to detect, when he heard her call out. "Hello"
She knew where he was. That hello sounded relatively confident to him, didn't it? He wasn't entirely sure, regardless. Tones weren't his strong suit. But he was pretty sure she sounded confident enough to prove to his mind that she knew exactly where he was. Blind panic seized him, feeling like a cold harpoon just got shot through his chest. He had to escape, he was done for.
And so he ran, he ran as fast as he could. He had made it about halfway to the castle when he heard a flapping, and noticed the hood to his cloak had blown off in the wind. He turned his head, and looked straight at the death witch for about one second before he pulled on his hood, and vanished from sight.

From Prey, to Predator.
Amanda did not like this, not one bit. The tingling sensation and raised hairs on her arms told her that danger was nearby, lying in wait. Plus, she had that feeling, the one that only comes when someone is watching. She shivered, silently hoping that whatever it was would just go away and leave her be.
A sudden breeze blew past her and Amanda jumped, whipping her head around in fear. She was on edge and thousands of wild possibilities were running through her head like stampeding elephants. She began a slow jog, which quickly turned into a run. She looked behind her for a sign of something, anything, but there was nothing threatening in sight. As she turned her head back around to look in front of her, she saw something that made her freeze in her tracks.
A floating head was bobbing towards the castle. It was Kaegen Deathmote’s floating head, by the looks of it. He turned to look at her and she met his gaze, frightened by this insane image before her. What felt like a long time was in reality only a second, and Kaegen’s head disappeared, leaving Amanda nervous and bewildered. As she stood there, rooted to the spot, it finally dawned on her. Oh my God... Kaegen’s got an invisibility cloak. The thought of it made her want to crawl into bed and never come out again. She knew that she was on his hit list, and that Kaegen wouldn’t stop until he had killed her with that stupid slingshot of his.
