Arriving at Hogwarts, Allen followed all the other first years into the Great Hall. He was amazed with all the magic around him. He then waited nervously for his turn for being sorted into his house. Other first year's names were being called, and when his name was called, he nervously went up to the stool and sat down. The hat was placed on his head and he waited nervously for his house to be chosen. He wondered if he'd be in the same house as his brother, Gryffindor, but wasnt sure. He just hopped that the hat will place him in the correct house. After a while of silence, the hat had made its decision. It exclaimed,
"GRYFFINDOR!"
Once the hat was off of his head, Allen got off the stool and walked over to the Gryffindor table and sat down beside his brother and watched the rest of the sorting, happy he was in the same house as his brother. He looked at his brother and noticed that he was also happy with Allen's house.
"Mom will be happy to know that we're both in the same house," Allen's brother says.
"Ya, she will," Allen says nodding.

There's a lot of stairs in this school. That was something that Willow thought of just by going up a few steps. Although she was extremely excited about what was to come, she couldn't suppress the desire to sit and rest before climbing that mountain of stairs. However that was not at all in her control. She was next to a friend she made in the Hogwarts Express, sadly she lost the sight of the other one. Willow often looked around looking for the black haired student but they got mixed up in the crowd, so she only stayed by the quiet blonde girl and made sure not to lose her too.
In front of some huge doors the students waited while listening to a professor talk about what would happened inside of the Great Hall. They would be sorted into a house, a group that would be like their family. Willow and Wren both already had an idea where they would get in, but Willow kind of wished the blonde girl could make it with her to Hufflepuff. It would be nicer if she shared the house with someone she already had met. When finally allowed to get in, the first-years walked across the enormous room decorated with floating candles and four tables with cloths of different colors. And a ton of students with different ages sitting down. An old man got up and introduced himself as the Headmaster of Hogwarts, so called Solomon Lear. With his little speech, the children started to be called to be selected by the sorting hat.
"WREN." Willow whispered-yelled at her friend. "What if we don't get sorted into the same house."
Wren looked at her and let out an annoyed sigh. "We probably wont be. What will happen is, you'll go to your house table, I'll go to my house table, probably Hufflepuff and Slytherin respectively, and then we'll see each other again if we have classes together."
Slytherin and Hufflepuff. But then how will they spend time together? "What do you mean if?" She looked at the blonde unhappily. "I mean, if we have classes together. We might not." Wren commented in an indifferent tone. "Well.. No I get that but.." She trailed off, her gaze switching to the Slytherin table. There was a bunch of students looking at them, obviously. Willow's mother was a Slytherin. She was a wonderful mother and wife but Willow realized that her mother wasn't very nice to any other people. She had a soft spot for her family and that was it. So that was the impression that she had of the house. She couldn't help but feel like maybe Wren would be nicer if they were in the same "family".
"I hope that you're wrong and that we both end up in Hufflepuff, because I want to be friends with you and, no offense, but those Slytherin people don't look too nice." Wren snorted. Willow couldn't make any sense of the expression on her face. "Besides you'd just do better in Hufflepuff all together, don't you think?" She added. As innocently as she said it the phrase sounded worst than she thought. Wren opens her mouth to reply but she closes it and rethinks about what she's about to say. "I think we're going to end up being friends either way." Her tone doesn't sound the most sincere, but it was enough to shut Willow up.
Wren Snowbell was called and so she was sorted. She did really end up in Slytherin which left no reaction on the brown haired girl on the crowd. She was called shortly after anyhow.
Willow Sorrow sat on the little stool and the professor put the hat on her. After no more than a minute the hat shouted loud and clear "HUFFLEPUFF."
The girl smiled as the hat as taken off her and the Hufflepuff table applauded the new member. She got up and down next to another fellow Hufflepuff first-year.

As Regulus entered the great hall, they noticed a giant (to them at least...) six foot tall old man. There was no doubt that it was Solomon Lear, the headmaster of Hogwarts. They had heard stories from their parents about the headmaster who always wear a suit of amour. They increased their walking speed after realising they were slowly walking at the end and hurried to catch up with the other first years. Regulus noticed the headmaster spared them a glance with a small smile. They flushed pink, embarrassed by how their first impression on the headmaster was.
As the door slammed shut behind Regulus, which by the way gave them a near heart attack, the headmaster did some basic introductions and announced the sorting ceremony to begin. Regulus returned to their panicking mode, taking in one deep breath after another. How am I going to sit in front of so many people? What if all of them judges me? Regulus trembled slightly, shivers running down their spine. They also earned a few glances, all mixed with pity, annoyance, and some other emotions that Regulus could not decipher just yet.
"WREN SNOWBELL!"
Regulus' eyes shot up. A familiar name! Their eyes followed Wren up to the sorting hat and watches as the hat yelled out not long after...
"SLYTHERIN!!"
Regulus smiled softly as Wren got to the Slytherin table. They were happy for her for getting in the house they wanted to be in. Willow was called not long after and she was sorted into Hufflepuff almost immediately. No surprises there honestly. Regulus was also happy for her though a bit sad that all three of them wouldn't be in the same house.
"REGULUS TENNANT!"
Regulus shuttered. They suddenly remembered how both of their parents were in Gryffindor so it would be weird if they weren't in Gryffindor. Regulus! Snap out of it! They mentally slapped themselves and hurried over to the sorting hat.
Regulus inhaled deeply as they sit down whilst the sorting hat was placed upon them. The headmaster gave them an encouraging smile and Regulus returned the gesture with a small nod. "Well what do we have here...? Another Tennant?" the sorting hat started which startled Regulus quite a bit but despite that, they froze and did not move an inch. "Hmm... where should I place you? I placed both of your parents in Gryffindor... but it might be a stretch for you..." the sorting hat continued. 'Please just put me in any house... people are staring and waiting to eat. I don't want to take too long and delay the feast...' Regulus thought, and the sorting hat spoke up again, "Well it is clear to me now, that you are a... HUFFLEPUFF!!" the unhinged hat yelled out.
The Hufflepuff table roared in applauds. As soon as the headmaster took of the sorting hat, Regulus whispered a quick "thank you" to the headmaster then hurried off to the Hufflepuff table where they spotted Willow waving and joined her table.

Jeremy followed every one else into the Great Hall and looked around. There were five long tables, one for the teachers and the other four for the houses. Jeremy then noticed that there were portraits all over the place, he also saw ghosts. But what amazed him the most were the floating candles. Jeremy still thought this was a dream, but it seemed to real to be a dream. He pinched himself hard, and felt pain. He wasn't dreaming, this is real. He's actually a wizard.
Waiting for his turn, the people who were called were sorted into their houses and Jeremy was wondering how an old hat could sort people into a house. But, when it was his turn, he went over to the stool, sat down, and when the hat was placed on his head, he knew why. The hat could talk, which seemed impossible for Jeremy, but realized everything here was impossible for him.
"Where to put you? Hufflepuff? No, that won't work. Gryffindor? No, that also won't work? Ravenclaw? That might work, but not quite right for you. Ah, I know the perfect house for you, Slytherin!" The hat said in his ear, then when it had chosen Jeremy's house, it exclaimed it so everyone else would know.
Jeremy walked over to the Slytherin table and sat down at a free spot and watched the rest of the sorting wondering why Jeremy was chosen to be in Slytherin and not the other houses, but he had a feeling that Slytherin would be better than the other three, like the hat said.

Rosy's heart jittered in her chest as she entered the Great Hall. Two conflicting emotions fought in her chest - anxiety because there were so many people and they were definitely all staring at her - Did she have a booger on her nose? She definitely had something in her face right? - but also wonder at the beautiful, enchanted ceiling and the floating candles and the delicious food on the tables... Her mouth started watering and she momentarily forgot to be worried about everything. Her mother has been right:Hogwarts really was a magical place and she hadn't even seen most of it!
A droning voice read their names from a scroll and one after the other, the students were placed into their houses. Rosy bit her lip. Her mother has been a Gryffindor in her time but how would she fare? Would her mother be disappointed if she wasn't sorted into the same house?
When Rosy heard her name at last, her knees were wobbly and she felt as if she would faint. Miraculously, she reached the stool without falling and sat down. The hat was placed on her head and she flinched, as a voice squeaked into her ear.
"Hmmm, where should I put you? Maybe Gryffindor, like your mother? No, you are shuddering like a leaf... Not so brave, eh?"
Rosy frowned but before she could say anything, the voice continued.
"Hufflepuff could be a good fit... But I see something else in you - an unquenchable thirst for wisdom and knowledge... That decision is easy, then!" Ravenclaw!
Exhaling audibly, Rosy stood up and walked over to the Ravenclaw table, sitting down and watching the other students get sorted.

Juniper entered the Great Hall with the group of other first years. She was used to magic and had seen a lot of wonderous things but even she was awed at the sight of the Hogwarts Castle when she saw it emerge from the fog on the boat ride over. Now with the sight of the Great Hall she was in awe again, it was splendid and grand with its long dining tables covered in so much food. Juniper was small but she loved to eat, and her favourite course was pudding. The room was lit by floating candles, and it was loud. Normally the loudness would have bothered Juniper but at this moment with so much excitement and anxiety running through her she didn’t mind all the noise; it was a distraction from her feelings. But soon her nerves started taking over the better of her. She had been dreaming of this day for so long and now here she was ‘to face judgement’ the young witch thought pessimistically to herself. The young witch came from a long line of Slytherins. It was expected that she would be one too, Ravenclaw would also be acceptable to her father but not preferable. Hufflepuff and Gryffindor were out of the question, she could not face her fathers shame and disappointment if she was placed in either of those houses. Her group was ushered to the front of the magnificent room where the Headmaster began his welcome speech and explanation for the sorting process. Juniper watched as students began to be called up, her palms were sweaty, so she rubbed them on her school robes. “Juniper Kyteler”, the young girl nearly jumped out of her skin when her name was called, she had lost track of where they were in the alphabet and didn’t realize her name would be coming up. Swallowing a gulp, she inched her way up to the Sorting Hat thinking the whole time ‘oh my Merlin, oh my Merlin, oh my Merlin.’ After what felt like forever but in reality, was only a few seconds, she was sitting on the small stool and the Headmaster was placing the hat on her head. ‘Another Kyteler’ the sorting hats voice started abruptly in her head causing her to jump and gasp a little causing the hat to chuckle a little.
‘You’re a nervous one, but kind, Hufflepuff could be a good fit for you’
‘No! Not Hufflepuff, please!’ She would never be able to look into her fathers eyes again.
‘You have a hunger for knowledge and enjoy learning, you would fit in to Ravenclaw nicely.’ That was an acceptable choice.
‘Hmmm interesting’ the hat continued on,'shy but there is bravery in you, Gryffindor would welcome you.’
‘Nope definitely not Gryffindor. I cannot be in Gryffindor, nope, cannot happen.’ The young witch thought in her head.
‘But alas you are ambitious and cunning too, far more than people give you credit for. But you do not share the same ideals as many in your family that I have sorted into Slytherin have….very interesting……’
There was a long pause from the hat where Juniper held her breath the entire time. ‘Better be…...’ “SLYTHERIN” the hat called out loudly. Juniper could have cried but instead she bit her lip and then grinned widely as the hat was removed from her head and she headed to the Slytherin table to a thunderous applause. She sat down and took a deep breath in, at least she would make her father proud in one small way. The grin stayed on her face as she realized this was the start of one big adventure.

Dean had not imagined his first step into Hogwarts would feel like stepping into a different universe. His heart throbbed with a mix of awe and nervous anticipation, his eyes wide as they drank in the grandeur of the Great Hall. The enchanted ceiling, mirroring the dark, starry sky outside, seemed to whisper secrets of magic and mystery. The hall, filled with the buzz of excited chatter, felt alive with the kind of magic Dean had only heard about from his parents. He felt small yet significant, a half-blood wizard stepping into a legacy that was both thrilling and daunting.
The Sorting Hat ceremony was a whirlwind of emotions. Dean stood there, amidst the throng of first-year students, his gaze occasionally drifting to the proud, scarlet banners of Gryffindor. He had always imagined himself draped in those colors, brave and chivalrous, just like the heroes in his favorite tales. But as the hat settled on his head, murmuring into his ear, he felt a tinge of surprise tickle his spine. "Hufflepuff!" the hat declared. A wave of conflicting emotions washed over him – surprise, a hint of disappointment, but also a burgeoning sense of curiosity.
As he made his way to the Hufflepuff table, he couldn't help but feel the weight of the stereotypes he had unknowingly harbored. Hufflepuffs were often overlooked, unfairly tagged as less daring or less remarkable than the other houses. But as he looked around at his new housemates, their warm smiles and welcoming claps dissolving his uncertainties, he felt a quiet resolve stir within him. He was determined to make his mark, to show that bravery and greatness weren't confined to the lion-emblazoned banners of Gryffindor.
Sitting down at the long, wooden table, Dean couldn't help but feel the magic of the moment – the hall bathed in the warm glow of floating candles, the distant echo of the enchanted ceiling's whispering. He smiled, a mixture of reassurance and newfound excitement coloring his expression. "This is just the beginning," he murmured to himself, his heart brimming with the promise of adventures and friendships that lay ahead. In that instant, the stereotypes shattered, replaced by a sense of pride in being a Hufflepuff. He was where he was meant to be, and Hogwarts, with all its mysteries and magic, was his new home.
Dean looked around once more, his eyes gleaming with determination and a spark of Hufflepuff loyalty. His thoughts raced but one was quite prominent: he wanted to make the very best of this all. His heart steady and ready for the journey ahead, he grinned wide. Hogwarts was not just a school of magic; it was a realm of possibilities, and he was ready to explore every corner of it.

Tracey entered the Great Hall with her head down. She didn't want to look at all the students in the hall, since she was an introvert and has stage fright. She listened to the sorting ceremony happen and just hopped that her name will be called. She looked up only when the person in front of her went up to get sorted. She knew she would be getting sorted soon, and she looked down at her feet again.
"Bailey Tracey," The professor called once the student had been sorted.
Tracey nervously walked up to the front of the hall and sat down, she didn't look at anyone, instead she stared at the ground and waited for the hat to make its decision. Tracey wanted to get off of the stool and didn't want to take forever, so thankfully after three minutes the hat cried,
"RAVENCLAW!"
Tracey hopped off of the stool and looked around the hall before seeing some Ravenclaws motion for her to come over to the table, so she went to where the people motioning her were and sat down in an open space, but didn't watch the rest of the sorting, she just stared at the table waiting for the sorting to be over and waiting for when she'll be able to eat some food since she was hungry.

Enchanted by the grandeur of the Great Hall, I hardly noted my own movement as I flowed along the crowd of First Years waiting to be sorted. The Hall was stunning, its twinkling night sky adorned by soft, glowing candles that reminded me of the lazy dance of fireflies at dusk. I didn’t know if the room was as big as it seemed, or if I was just very small. Only when the buzz of excitement in the hall fell silent did I shift my attention from the captivating ceiling, my gaze quickly settling on the five long tables that occupied the vast space. Each of the four tables that flanked me were dressed in various house colors (blue, green, red, and yellow), their crests swaying proudly on matching banners overhead. It was then that I noticed the faces surrounding those tables, faces that seemed to press in as they watched me, and my First-Year-peers, intently as we approached the semi-ominous looking hat that sat on display for all to see.
A tinge of anxiety gripped my heart as we came to a halt. I could feel a flush creeping to my ears just as a warm smile caught my eye from amidst a sea of yellow and black – Finn. My brother beamed, flashing a stupid face that made me roll my eyes, but I couldn’t help but smile back. It was the gesture I needed, from a familiar face, to renew my confidence. I dropped my shoulders and looked straight ahead, any lingering anxiety vanishing. The Sorting Hat sang its cheery song, the fifth table stretching the length of the wall behind it. I noted each professor hosted there, faces neutral as they patiently waited for the ceremony to officially begin.
I listened as names were called, becoming more at ease with the procession as cheers of welcome boomed from each table for every new arrival. The day had been a whirlwind of excitement, leaving me too caught up to consider food. I hadn’t taken a single bite all day, not even during the train ride when the trolley rolled by with its tempting treats that briefly piqued my interest. But as a sudden pang of hunger swept over me, I found myself looking forward to the welcome feast after all.
“Alis Nyx!”, the Headmaster called.
My name bounced off the towering stone walls, and I resisted the urge to twist the hem of my sleeve in nervous anticipation as I took a steadying breath and stepped forward. I turned to face the hall and cautiously sat on the stool, swallowing slightly as the Sorting Hat descended until its brim darkened my view. A subtle warmth enveloped me as the hat sprung to life.
“Ahh, Alis Nyx. A dreamer, with a thirst for adventure…”, its ancient voice crooned, revealing the whisperings of my heart as I sat still as death. It seemed as if the hat were a sentient being capable of unraveling my very essence, a thought that would’ve made me shudder if I wasn’t so amazed. I could sense everyone’s gaze upon me as it continued its contemplation, quickly speaking in what almost sounded like riddles. The Hat acknowledged the determination in my spirit, the strength of will that guided me through challenges and considered whether the emerald common room of Slytherin might be the sanctuary to nurture my aspirations. It sensed the curiosity that drove my daydreams and the hunger for understanding that fueled my imagination as it weighed my potential for Ravenclaw, with its sapphire towers of wisdom and passion for knowledge. Not overlooking Hufflepuff, it recognized the genuine connections I held dear, the bonds of family and friendships that shaped my world before pondering whether the cozy, citrine haven by the kitchens might be the place where I would find comfort and belonging.
Mere seconds ticked by… then the Sorting Hat seemed to reach a decision. "But I see the flame of courage in you, oh yes… flame forged in the crucible of your aspirations, dreams, and unwavering spirit… yes, that is what burns brightest- GRYFFINDOR!”, it declared. I exhaled the breath I had unknowingly held as The Hall erupted in deafening cheers, my eldest brother, Gideon, clapping and whistling the loudest. My heart swelled with delight and thundered in my ears as I found my feet and walked toward the waiting embrace of a wave of crimson and gold. The proud lion banners above seemed to flutter in approval at the pride’s newest little lioness.
I took a seat, satisfied with the Sorting Hat's careful decision, and watched with other newly appointed Gryffindors as the remaining first years were sorted before the Headmaster rose to his feet. He offered a brief, encouraging speech, introduced the staff, and highlighted a few specific rules before summoning a feast more extravagant than my stomach could’ve wished for at that moment. Suddenly realizing how dry my mouth was as my water goblet filled with pumpkin juice, I took a sip, enjoying the sweetness and began eyeing the vibrant array of dishes. Savory scents and happy chatter filled the air as students selectively piled their plates. The camaraderie at the table left me secretly hoping to find lasting connections to share this journey with as I picked at a treacle tart, taking in the sight of my new home.

Since arriving on Platform 9 3/4, Elisa felt as though she had been transported into another world altogether. Yet in spite of all the newness, the strangeness, and every passing moment being more dreamlike than any reality she had ever known, a state of cheer and peace had been washing over her from the moment her foot had touched the platform. It was truly the happiest day of her life. And this was only the beginning.
Elisa gazed around, eyes wide, her face positively glowing with awe and joy, as she entered the Great Hall of Hogwarts. There was so much to see, so much to take in, but the enchanted ceiling and floating candles were the first to take her breath away. The beauty and majesty of the starry sky, visible from inside an already stunningly majestic hall, made her giggle in delight. The hall was absolutely packed with excitement, noise, and a whole range of emotions. She heard both anxious chatter and elated voices all around her as the new students walked further inside.
Once they had reached near the front of the hall, the headmaster began to speak, explaining the sorting of students into "houses" based on their personality. This speech seemed to cause a ripple of intensifying anxiety from the young students surrounding her. And while Elisa's sensitive nature meant that others' emotions were highly infectious for her, nothing seemed capable of disturbing her peace and elation that day. She felt merely an ever growing curiosity about the houses and where she would be placed and what that would mean.
The something unexpected happened. A shabby, pointed hat began to talk - and then sing! Elisa laughed out loud joyfully to watch it move as it spoke, as though it had an actual mouth. Somehow, with everything that had happened that day, the odd talking hat seemed almost ordinary and natural.
It was soon her turn to don the hat. It plopped on her tiny head, sliding down most of her face and flat nose so that she was plunged in darkness.
"Hmm.. wear to put you. Ravenclaw, surely. Such intelligence and love for learning.." said the hat, it's low, rough voice almost like a tickle within her skull.
I guess that's where my parents would expect me to go, Elisa thought to herself. Not that her Muggle parents knew anything about Hogwarts or Ravenclaw or that they would even be interested.
"Never mind them. Is it where you truly belong? " the hat wondered in reply to her thought. "Your heart is kind, loyal, patient. Oh yes, I think it's clear where you must go... HUFFLEPUFF!" The hat pronounced the last word with such a deafening roar that the startled Elisa nearly fell off the stool.
The announcement was greeted by another roar of cheers, coming mostly from a table of students dressed in uniforms with the colors black and yellow. The warm, cheerful clapping and smiling faces made her grin from ear to ear. She raced towards the table, giggling, her eyes shimmering slightly with tears of joy.
Serene will be our days, and bright and happy will our nature be, when love is an unerring light, and joy its own security.
