PET Treats For Casey

Sage opened the heavy door to the pet shop with a grunt. She looked around the shop with a smile. She was alone shopping. Cassie and Kora were looking around at other shops and agreed to let her do this part of their trip alone. There was everything a pet could possibly need within these doors. A few weeks ago, Sage had been out for a walk with her step-mother when they stumbled upon a handsome little cat. She was there to look around for toys and treats for him to help him feel at home when they went to Hogwarts. He had been very shy and tried to bolt away, but they caught up to him and took him home to care for him. He took very kindly to everyone after a few days, but bonded with Sage especially. Cassie finally gave in to Sage’s begging for a cat and allowed her to adopt the cat as her own. Sage decided to name the pale orange cat Casey. Casey was absolutely breathtaking. One of his eyes was swirls of blue, gray, and white which was a mark of him being blind. His other eye had similar swirls but a bit of a bold amber. His eyes were paired with a coat of pale orange. He was quite small for a cat Cassie estimated to be about five. Casey was very shy and hesitant to be with new people, just like Sage. Maybe his personality reminded Sage of herself and that’s why they got along so well. Or maybe it's because life had taken something from each of them. For Sage it was her leg, and Casey it was his eyesight. As Sage searched around the store, one of the shopkeepers approached her.
“Can I help you find anything?” he asked with a warm smile.
“No, thank you. I’m just here searching for some treats for my new cat, Casey,” she explained.
“Treats, eh? Careful not to give him too much!” he warned with a hearty laugh.
“I will,” promised Sage with an equally loud laugh.
“Think he’ll need any toys?” offered the man.
“I don’t know how interested he’ll be in that,” said Sage.
“Oh? Not an athletic cat?”
“Casey is actually blind,” Sage informed him. It was true. When Sage had found the terrified cat, he was fully blind in his right eye but had a bit of sight in his left.
“Blind? Oh, the poor boy,” commented the old man.
“He is able to get around pretty easily,” said Sage, defending her cat.
“That’s good. Now, is there anything else I can do for you today?” asked the shopkeeper. Sage picked up a few more bags of treats and balanced them carefully in her arms.
“No, thanks. I’ve got all I need,” said Sage with a smile.
“Good on you! Why don’t I ring up these treats so you can get back to your beloved cat?” The shopkeeper led her to the counter and gave her the grand total. Sage handed over the coins and gathered the food in her arms.
“Thank you,” Sage thanked him before she left.
“Anytime, dear. You be sure to bring that cat of yours by sometime; he sounds like a real character,” the shopkeeper said, his eyes smiling joyfully. Sage laughed boisterously.
“I will,” she promised. Sage opened the door and strolled out smiling.
