Seniors were an interesting bunch, not because they were weird or anything, but because they were buff. While some of them weren't buff in terms of their physical builds, their abilities were beyond Alyssea's comprehension. I mean, just look at these guys!
Colin was casting his first spell that Alyssea still had no clue what it did. Much like how Dan casted Rictusempra again and missed, Colin's Mimblewimble just narrowly missed its target. Alyssea was so close to jumping from where she sat until Dan swerved out of the spell's firing line with millimetres to spare. These seniors were quick!
The newest spell she heard today was Incendio Duo, which quickly sprouted bright flames from Dan's wand. This must be a fire-making spell, Alyssea thought as she watched the spell go. While Colin had to put in some more effort into dodging, he still did and it was both awesome and annoying. When will she ever figure out how much damage these guys could dish? Was this just gonna be a dancing party?
Alyssea said nothing after the two exchanged snide remarks and let the duel continue. Hopefully, their next set of spells will hit; this was beginning to be a bit boring.

Colin smirked as Dan laid on his own shite talk. Of course, he would never admit to the older boy that he was --- extremely --- in over his head. As the battle raged on, he knew that he'd have to apologise to him for calling him a fake Slytherin. But that day wasn't today! Colin had his pride, and while it would surely go before his fall, he wasn't about to let the wank beat him up without putting up a fight of his own!
"Hah!" Colin shouted as they each cast their spells and managed to dodge them! Dan was really quick on his bare feet --- but so was Colin. Incendio Duo. That was a good one to avoid!, and Colin was very happy he'd not have to suffer the burns of a stronger fire spell! To bad Dan just wouldn't shut up! He'd seen Regina cast mimblewimble on opponents before, and really wanted to try that out himself! "Tell ye what Palmer, I'll let you have a truce!"
Oh well.
There was nothing for it now! Colin shrugged and gave Dan his cute smile after all his blathering about rabbits. He looked over towards Alyssea as he got ready for the next round. He wondered what she was thinking. She was only a first year. Probably didn't even know which end of her wand to point away from her! Hopefully he'd be able to dish out some comeuppance on Dan and dodge whatever hellish spell Dan decided to blatch him with!

A truce? The hell did he mean truce? Acting as cocky as he did, Colin seemed to be saying he would allow Dan to surrender.
As. Shagging. If.
This dodging nonsense Colin was doing was now beginning to supremely piss Dan off.
Just hold still ye little Highland GOWL.
If Colin was this good at dodging, Dan almost considered poaching him from the broom racing team to bring to Quidditch. In fact...
"Oi. McCoire. Ye ever consider Quidditch? If ye dodged half that well on the pitch, ye could be Slytherin's Star Chaser in a few years. Tis not sarcasm, fer serious."
Dan found lately that his mind had fixated on Quidditch. He'd studied all kinds of techniques. He knew the stats of every broom by heart. And he planned to collect one of all of them. Just like how muggles had garages of all kinds of cars, Dan would have an unrivaled broom collection.
Those thoughts were not for here though. And Colin probably wouldn't switch anyway. Dan knew fully well what Sport Loyalty felt like. He'd been a Quidditch Captain for his entire Hogwarts life. He couldn't even fathom switching to Dueling or Broom Racing. In fact, he found that he couldn't imagine his life anymore without Quidditch...
Snapping himself back in, not letting his ADHD control the situation, he prepared to cast another spell.
This one REALLY wouldn't miss.

And there it was, the first hit of the duel (that she'd witnessed). It only took, what, a few rounds of spell-throwing?
Dan came back with the same fire-making spell from before. Second time was the charm, Alyssea hoped. As the blue flames shot towards Colin, Alyssea really thought he would just dodge again. Then, the flames engulfed him and the edges of his shirt were singed a black colour.
"LET'S GO!"Alyssea was quick to jump in excitement but retreated upon seeing the outcome. Yikes. Putting people on fire was apparently legal in duelling. Who said that was allowed? Some Muggle-born witch or wizard's parents might want to have a word with the school. Her parents were unlikely to say anything about it considering they were alumni.
Being on fire probably disoriented Colin as he sent out Obscuro. From her little knowledge of languages, she could assume it had something to do with darkness. But the spell had no chance of hitting its target.
Where did they even get these skills from? Spells obviously came from classes, but what about their superpower for dodging? Upon hearing Quidditch, Alyssea let out a sigh. Sports. She hadn't roped herself up into any sports yet, somewhat scared of the prospect of being on a broom. Was duelling a sport or was it just something people did for fun here?

Colin knew he'd really ticked Dan off! If Dan was anything, he was proud. It wasn't Colin's fault if he was better at dodging the older boy's sucky aim! He smirked at Dan. It was him, a fifth year, that challenged second year Colin to a duel over a silly name! Hah! The auld gobshite was clearly upset about something! Colin stuck out his tongue to further taunt Dan. "Let me know when you need a breather Danny Boy!" Colin emphasised the last two words.
And then something very unexpected happened. Wait. Did Dan actually compliment Colin's dodging skills? "Qu--- Chaser!?" Was this some sort of scheme to mess with Colin's head? It had worked! Serious or not, Colin found himself distracted by Dan's tactic! He shook his head quickly, just in time to see his opponent's wand levelled at him!
They cast their spells!
And then it hit him!
Fire! --- AGAIN! --- And the blindfold he sent Dan's way was burnt to crispy ash before it ever got to his opponent!
"Ow! Ow! Oooo! It burns!" he cried out. It wasn't the first time Colin had been set on fire today. He'd managed to set himself alight earlier. And this wasn't the first year version of fire either. It could have been much worse, of course! But you get used to the burn after a while. "Hah!" he hissed with scorn. "I've nothing left to burn Palmer!" He waggled his kilt at Dan. "Fireproof, mate! Try and burn this!"

Dan smirked as his spell hit. While the proposal to join Quidditch was genuine, he wasn't going to say no to a free distraction, now was he?
It seemed Colin tried to blindfold Dan, but it went up in the flames like... well, a blindfold.
But, he had said something that was actually a bit triggering. Calling Dan Danny.
Yep. Colin was about to hurt.
"....Alright Flea Circus. You wanna be like that? Fine."
Colin even had the audacity to shake his stupid little kilt at him. Dan had kind of hoped skin would burn better than it did, since neither of them were wearing shirts. But, the amount of damage inflicted was acceptable.
"I dont hafta burn the kilt, Tick Farm. I just gotta burn up whats under it."
How in the world Colin could act so cocky when he was this outmatched was baffling to Dan. Was he actually this stupid? Did he legitimately think he had even the slightest chance? Dan wasn't sure, and thinking about it only served to irritate him.
It was inevitable. He knew it was, he was pretty sure Colin knew it was. Alyssea was... only just arriving, is she might not know how deep in it Colin was.
Dan aimed his wand again. Time to make this puppy squeal.

The flames were quick to disappear and didn't manage to burn Colin's clothes too badly. Lucky for him, Alyssea figured. Less to repair or replace.
The smoke didn't deter Colin from casting another spell, however. Instead, he pulled out something called Expelliarmus. Honestly, she was praying it would hit so she could find out what it did. Luckily, it did and Dan's wand went flying out of his hand. "A disarming charm," Alyssea whispered to nobody but herself. When would they learn that spell?
But just before Dan's wand went flying, he threw Aqua Eructo, yet another spell Alyssea had no clue about. From the incantation, she could gather it was about water. Wouldn't that douse the flames on Colin if it hit? So then why the fire spell? But Colin was quick on his feet and dodged the spell just in time.
Right, this was looking... a bit interesting now. Colin wasn't on fire and Dan was missing a wand. Could he do wandless magic? She did note, however, that Colin looked to be on the verge of collapsing.
Alyssea called out, "Hey! If you're not feeling good, we can stop it here." Dan would be the winner even if he was wandless. Even if they didn't take the option to forfeit, at least she could say she gave them the option. Wouldn't want to be known for letting seniors just collapse until they were almost dead as a First Year. Not exactly something to be proud of.

*Note: If you saw the rolls, Dan's auto-dodge triggered on a d10. This was mostly a mistake on my part of being too quick and not having woken up completely yet. I decided to reroll with a d20 afterwards to stay consistent with what I've been doing for the past four rounds.

"OWOOOOOOOOOO!" Colin howled as whatever spell Dan had cast at him zinged past him! "Missed me by a mile Palmer!" Who knew duelling could be this much fun? His own disarming spell, however, was right on target! "Go fetch Danny Boy! Ye great bloody Irish Retriever!"
Colin smirked as Dan kept up the teasing. For some reason, Colin was really growing to like the older boy. He had a quick wit and sharp tongue, which Colin appreciated. Of course, he also had pride, which had led them to this duel and Colin's impending death. That didn't matter to Colin! He licked his teeth as the older boy's wand went skittling across the ancient floor.
"Palmer, ye coud nae light a muggle match, let alone kindle a fire to burn what's under this kilt!" Of course, Colin was wearing his favourite Ravenclaw boxers! His eyes opened suddenly. Oh! Dan probably didn't mean Colin's boxers! Grr. Colin chuckled. Well, Danny Boy wasn't gonna burn them either!
Deep inside, he knew he was toast. How could a second year win against a fifth year anyway! But he could never let Dan know that! No. Way. There was only one way this battle was going to finish! "Oi! Watch yerself there lad!" Colin called out.

Now things were getting frustrating. This wretched little highland mutt STILL didn't go down. What a waste. All this dodging skill, wasted on Broom Racing for shit's sake.
But. Not only did this little prick not go down, but he had the AUDACITY to disarm him?!
Yeah. Alright. Dan had an idea of what to do after he got his wand back. It wasn't as though Colin would be able to hit him.
It was then that Dan realized how this must look to Alyssea. A pair of boys, no shirts, bare feet, one even in a kilt, flinging spells at each other. That was eh... Oh dear. But, Dan hardly cared. He certainly wasn't a bodybuilder, but he had nothing to be ashamed of. And he was always barefooted anyway, so.
And Colin had to open his dumbass mouth again. Which, naturally, provoked a response.
"Ah, so of the two of us, IM the dog now? How 'bout right after this, I put ye in a collar, get yer leash, and we can take a walk outside. Im sure ye know how to walk on all fours by now, little puppy."
As he went to get his wand, Colin spoke again. And once again, Dan responded.
"I dunno, mate. Lit YER arse up pretty good."

During wand search, Dan has half of the dodge bonus.
Dodge bonus = 5 + 10*0.25 = 7.5 ≈ 8
Final evasion = 10 + 8/2 = 14
How many times had Colin cast Mimblewimble now? She'd heard it numerous times at this point and each time they missed. Dan was simply too slippery. Colin himself was also quite slippery, but you know, Dan managed to land more hits than Colin from what Alyssea had seen.
But for the first time since this duel started, she would finally know what Mimblewimble did.
As Dan went searching for his wand, Colin took the chance to fire it. Maybe there was a misstep or it was just misfortune as the spell narrowly hit Dan at his jaw. What Alyssea saw next was somewhat concerning. Half of Dan's mouth had disappeared from his face; it was almost like Transfiguration gone wrong.
A muting spell, Alyssea figured. That would certainly be annoying considering Dan already lost his wand and now he couldn't cast spells properly. At least he had his wand back! But again, casting spells would be annoying.
Alyssea stood in fear thinking about the spells she'd seen now. All she'd learned so far was some dancing feet spell and a repairing spell. These spells? They could do so much damage. She looked up and down the piste. This was truly an interesting duel to watch.
