What a quiet day. Soundless corridors, silent walls, as gentle steps echoed through the voiceless cold air. Dark robe moved with tranquillity, its yellow streaks contrasting with dark palette around them as slim hands were holding a book of dull colouring, edges somewhat damaged, giving it an older appearance. Pages were opened, inked words lying on yellow paper, a dark illustration of an ominous horse standing out, catching the attention of any inquisitive eyes.

The horse was skinny, bony even, body had somewhat reptilian features, enormous bat-like wings extended from fleshless back, neck slim, covered with short black mane as a dragon-like head was resting on one's frail structure. Title was written largely on the beginning of the page of this sinister-looking creature: Thestral.

One of the wizard's favourite creatures besides dragons, blue vision glimmered with interest, absorbing the book's content with curiosity as the girl moved forward, silky grey locks pulled up in a high ponytail as a few of the sneaky strands managed to escape, giving the hairstyle a charmingly messy appearance. Child continued walking, vision focused on content in one's pale hands.

Soundless, corridors, silent walls, slow movements echoing through voiceless air, noiseless day was about to be ended by a pair of faster-pacing steps coming from another direction.

Alan wandered through the corridors, his hair fell into his face in loose strands, hiding those light emerald eyes from direct sight. He could see through those strands effortlessly, he did not mind them and it was not a real purpose such as hiding his face, it was laziness. Pure laziness as he did not felt like combing is hair back or brushing the strands behind his hair whenever they threatened to fall into his face again. Sometimes he would wear hair pins to keep the hair out of his face, they were color changing so that they would always fit his other clothes and never stood out too much. But they must be somewhere in or below his bed, he must have to take them off before going to sleep... again.

The second year Gryffindor looked down on his hands , that carefully held an envelope between his finger tips that he had carefully folded and sealed with a few drops of hot wax. He always made fun of wax stamps using some thick paper to cut out symbols to put it on the envelope's wax. This time it was a small crafted sun, that he tried to form with a pair of scissors. A smile was on his lips as he skipped through the corridor, only barely concentrating on his surroundings, but enough to not actively run into another person.

Focus, a funny thing it was indeed. One would think their attention was undistractible until an enticing distraction draws them from their centred state, letting unwanted actions take place before regaining unfocused mind.

And so it happened here. One was walking slowly, loose hairband was barely holding the elusive silky locks as the other figure pranced with joy from the opposite direction, paying a tad less attention he usually would. Ophelia never thought senses could get so strongly sucked into a book but oh they did, ears heard pacing steps too late, gaze looked up as face somehow pressed against stranger's chest, hairband falling off one's grey hair, letting it fall gracefully on soft features, hugging slim shoulders, strands resting on girl's back as slim hands dropped the precious book on the cold floor.

Confused, glimmering eyes looked towards dropped item before switching back up again, baby blue mixed with emerald green as shocked expression observed the unfamiliar face who looked as confused as the Hufflepuff was.

It never happened to her before, one felt somewhat embarrassed really, eyebrows frowned in a serious expression again, pale fingers fixed locks behind her ear as both figures crouched down to pick up her book which was lying on the floor open, the Thestral's illustration still glaring with its pale white eyes.

Alan was still holding the envelope in his hand, when suddenly someone ran into him. For once it was not his fault that something got messed up or that something clumsy happened. This is really rare, but he did not have much time to think about it. He just stared at the girl in front of him, who looked up to him in what he assumed was shock? Was it surprise? Maybe both? He did not really know but that probably was not what was important in this kind of situation, right? ”I-I'm sorry!”, he apologized out of reflex, so used to being the person to cause this kind of mess.

He saw something laying on the ground out of the corner of his eye and looked down to see a book, that had dropped with the pages onto the ground. The hardcover read something about Creatures and his eyes began to sparkle slightly, as he bend down to pick up the book, carefully as to not crumple the sites anymore. The book looked rather old, it must have been read many times. He bit his lips slightly and flipped it over to see a truly magnificent creature. A Thestral he thought and his thoughts were confirmed when he looked at the black letters, which wrote out the name of the dark creature. He smiled slightly and handed the book back over to the girl.

”I-I guess this is yours?”, he asked nervously, even though the answer should be obvious.

A smile formed on stranger's lips, picking up the book before one could do so herself, handing it towards slim hands. Grabbing her possession gently, head nodded to one's question as they both stood up, filling the hallways with silence again.

She dusted off the small particles which got stuck on the book's covers, hands sliding gently as their last intention was to damage the valued item. Blue gaze turned their focus on the boy as vision now had time to take a closer look of the stranger. Standing in about average height, his robe was decorated with red streaks, a lion crest engraved on one side of the dark fabric.; Gryffindor. Figure was somewhat lean, showing some hidden athletic details, hair coloured in different shades of brown, hazel locks fell on one's face but weren't nearly strong enough to hide the green orbs behind them, their emerald tint shone like gemstones, glimmering with tension, perhaps nervous of the accidental crash.

He apologized as if it was his fault but both should know that most of the blame should go to the Hufflepuff, one didn't say it out loud though, as there was still a trace of surprise in baby blue orbs, one still not sure how she could let her guard down to such extent.

He looked at the girl in wonder and confusion. She did not seem interested in talking to him, as in not interested in even saying a single word. But Alan did not mind, he could not force anyone to talk with him and even though he thought it was weird to be ignored by her like this, he was used to stuff like that happening. It was not unusual that he was not noticed or that people were to busy to really talk with him.

He casted a look at the envelope in his hand and remembered what he meant to do in the first place. To not seem like an idiot he just distanced herself from the silent girl and run away in a light pace. He needed to reach the owlery and be on time for lunch so he needed to hurry a bit. His mind was already occupied with thoughts what he would eat and if Nifflers would let Griffith read his letters. Maybe he should make a sign that warns students to not send owls with shiny ink.. He already had so many signs around the stables so another one would be okay, right?

He shrugged as he bolted around the corner into another corridor, out of sight for the other girl.
