Living is the art of getting used to what we didn't expect
She walked over to her favorite armchair, the one she always sat in, and sat down with her book and paper. Today she was going in for a study session. She really needed to study. She was falling behind in homework and schoolwork, and was going to catch up. She was a huge procrastinator and tended to prioritize things she wanted to do, rather than things she needed to do, which often led to forgetting about the things that were supposed to be done.
She was taking notes at record speed and ended up finishing up everything she had to do in about twenty minutes. After that, still having some free time, she got up and went over to the nearby shelves and looked for a book to read to pass the time.

───── As the school year came to an end, exams soon to be taken, the first year found more value in the weekends. While Saturday’s and Sundays were used as an outlet to study, it felt like a breeze in her blond hair comparatively to the weekdays, where the professors gave them heaps of last-minute assignments to complete. So whenever those two days rolled over and Monday began, the pale skinned girl’s mood was exceptionally low. Unfortunately for her, today just happened to be a Monday.
The initial plan was to work on some classwork, then study in a quiet atmosphere. Entering through the tall oak doors, that was what she began to do. Sliding out a heavy Transfiguration book from the shelf, and hugging it tightly with both arms so it wouldn’t topple to the ground, Lilliana placed it on a vacant table. The next few minutes consisted of quiet scribbling, the sound of notes being jotted down onto a piece of parchment, the productivity lasting for a bliss five minutes.
Lilliana’s attention span was significantly less that day, the blond haired girl incapable of sitting still any longer. Giving into her mental pleas to take a break, Lilliana stood up, striding over to the shelves. Her eyes sliding over the titles of the covers briefly before moving from section to section, she ought to have known by now to be aware of her surroundings from all the collision’s she had endured over the past year, yet here she was. The grace and elegance she possessed had been tampered by clumsiness in her genes, Lilliana accidentally knocking into another girl, “Sorry,” she mumbled, not meeting the other girl’s eyes.

Madi turned to look at the girl who had knocked into her. She had long blonde hair and was much shorter than Madi was. No surprise there, most people her age were shorter than her. The girl also wasn't making eye contact.
Normally, Madi would have been frustrated by this and would have said something sarcastic in return, but she was in a great mood that day and didn't want to ruin it. She also didn't see a point in getting angry about this, so she decided to try and respond positively.
"It's okay!" she said brightly. "My name's Madi, by the way. What's yours?" she felt a weird desire to start up a conversation. Madi looked straight on at the girl, even though she wasn't looking at Madi. If this girl didn't want to talk to her, that was fine. But that didn't mean she wasn't going to try.
