Eri cautiously watched him as he looked over her art work. It was a little hard for her to let him look through her sketchbook like that. It was as if she had handed him her soul to look through and see what she was made of. Each pencil stroke, every shaded area, and every blending of colors was like showing him s all bits and pieces of her deepest parts. Hopefully Elijah wouldn't take advantage of this rare opportunity.

The normally pale cheeks turned a bit red at his words of appraisal towards the portrait. "Oh um thanks. No I draw lots of things." A little hesitant she flipped to a page then showed him a sketch a little hesitantly. It was a sketch of a tree house settled in between two trees in a mysterious, mystical looking forest. The moon is a wanting crecscent to and some stars shining up at the top. The colors were more on the realistic dark night style. This was a picture from one of her dreams. It had appeared in many of her dreams. To her it was a place where she could escape from the stress of reality and delve into the Dreamworld to relax.

Lots of things... well, that was new. New? Yes, new, very new. It wasn't like people showed him their sketchbooks, or tried to teach him about the world of art... to be completely honest, he wasn't sure if most people knew that he even existed, in the first place. At least, he hoped that he flew under the radar, most of the time. Did people normally draw lots of different things? He would've thought that artists liked to focus on one or two things... but then again, Eri was only, what, 12? 13? She was allowed to explore the art realm, still, considering she most certainly wasn't a professional of any kind, at this age.

Not that her talent wasn’t immense. No, even with his untrained eye, he could tell that her drawings were beyond spectacular. Either that, or he hadn’t been exposed to enough of the art world to know, but it looked amazing to him. It was as beautiful as watching his sister score a goal as a Chaser, or watching his dad sink two balls at once in billiards, or watching his mother completely dissect a chicken for dinner with nothing but her hands and a knife.

Absolutely beautiful.

The sketch Eri showed him was something straight out of a dream. What did they call this art style? Surrealism? The attention to detail was impeccable, and Elijah could almost feel himself being sucked into whatever world it was the Eri had drawn on the page, almost as if he could feel the cool night air and smell of the forest… No. Stop it. He was too grown up for this sort of thing, being ‘sucked into other worlds’. It was something his English teachers would’ve told him to do, and he would’ve pretended to play along with their little teaching methods just to satisfy them. He was too old for this type of nonsense… yet why did he still get that happy-tingly sensation every time he looked at Eri’s art?

“That’s… that’s amazing,” he murmured softly, finally able to tear his eyes away from the pages. “W
ow.” A girl who was both a savior and an artist. What else did the silver-haired second year hide beneath her fierce expressions and unique accent? She was much more transparent than most people he talked to, he would have to admit, but it was certainly a nice change of pace, for once.

Somewhere, far off in the distance, he could hear the toll of a bell. Instinctively, he turned his head to look at the clock in the courtyard, rising high above the stone arches serving as entrances to the grounds of Hogwarts. “That’s my bell,” Elijah said quietly, stating the rather obvious, and shifting the shoulder strap of his bag slightly. His hand itched to go to his necklace, to fiddle with the pendant, but he managed to restrain himself. “I… it was nice to meet you, Eri. Hopefully, I’ll see you around, although I pray it is not in the same predicament.” With a small smile, the Slytherin turned to head back up to the castle, the Ravenclaw still at the forefront of his mind.
