Being Sorted Closed

My fellow first years and I nervously entered the Great Hall for the first time. There were candles floating, the roof looked like the night sky, and there were four tables, each with hundreds of students wearing their Hogwarts robes. We slowly walked to the front where the Sorting Hat was waiting for us on a stool.

"Gilbert, Micheal," said the Deputy Headmistress.

The Hat thought for a while and then said, "better be... SLYTHERIN!" Micheal jumped off the bench with a cunning smile on his face and ran to the Slytherin table as all the Slytherin students cheered.

"Longbottom, Nellie!"

The second the Hat touched her head, it said, "GRYFFINDOR!"

"Taylor, Brenda!"

I gulped and stepped up to the stool. When the Hat was placed on my head, it said to me,"you have kindness beyond compare, plenty of knowledge and bravery... but... better be.... HUFFLEPUFF!"

I smiled and dashed off to the Hufflepuff table where people greeted me with high-fives and fist-bumps. I sat down next to a Prefect because I figured she would be the nicest.

After about a half- an- hour, the sorting was done and the feast began. The Headmaster waved his hands an all of a sudden the tables were full with platters of corn, chicken, turkey, ham, pumpkin juice, pie, cakes, and so much other stuff that I didn't know the names to. After about an hour, the Headmaster said that all the Prefects should lead the first years to their dormitories. All in all, this was probably the most memorable night of my life.

When in doubt, look in a book.
